To think they managed to wrap the ending up in just one episode is so amazing.
It's been so nice to watch, the Tournament of Power saga was seriously on fire, especially the last 10 episodes, holy shit.
Goku's new form, the 3-man team in the end and even Frieza did one hell of a good job along with Goku when they charged together, that was fire.

It was SO thrilling, I haven't felt like this in ages. It felt so good to see all that action and it kept blowing me off my chair because of the random plot twists and the soundtrack was SO COOOL

Thank you for this masterpiece that will never be forgotten.

I know it's obviously been a bit since this episode aired but, this was sick. I kinda predicted that neither Goku or Vegeta would win the tournament. I thought it was kinda stupid how they said at the end that if that's not what the winner wished then they would have all been erased. Can't wait for the next arc to get animated if and when that does happen

Freiza and Goku fighting together. I must be dreaming? Huh?
Great ending. Seems like Goku can't go UI until he's pushed to his limits.
Funny ending seeing everyone. Hope to see more from other universes and Jiren in the future.
Also, Frieza back to his wicked deeds. That guy can never change. LoL

Honestly, was expecting Freeza to betray them (or attempt to) until the very end, when Jiren was completely weakened to knock him and Goku/17 out of the ring to get the wish. So that teamwork play was an interesting turn. Winner wish to return all other universes was very predictable though.

Overall it had impressive animation and some of these last fights looked great visually. The drawbacks were the usual power related plot holes that carried over from the second half of DBZ.

Loved the teamwork with Goku and Frieza, to be honest,t he addition of Frieza during this tournament compared to Buu was a pleasant surprise.
And in true fashion ofcourse they'd bring back all universes as you should expect, Android 17 making that wish was even better.
Fantastic way to end the series honestly.

As for Dragon Ball Super as a whole, it was super (no pun intended) entertaining.
I do think it lacked a lot of suspense and urgency compared to Dragon Ball Z.
My main issues were that it never felt that they were truly in trouble .. and when they were in trouble with the Future Trunks saga with Zamasu it felt too out of this world, not as grounded as Z.

Another aspect I thought could've been better was the art, every character just looked too clean and shiny / bubbly, made it look minimalistic.
The animation was great, maybe not the entire time but the majority was fine.

It seems like every season was completely different, Dragon Ball was more focused on adventure, Dragon Ball Z was more focused on family, powering up and gritty fights and Dragon Ball Super focused more on the fun and fanservice.
All in all I'd say the "Super" season was really entertaining, a lot of new transformations, really good comedy and just fun to watch.

I wonder what's next for Dragon Ball as there's only 4 years left between the ending of Super (Broly) and the ending of Dragon Ball Z where he goes out to train with Uub.

I always thought of GT as a glorified fan fiction, where the creators were Dragon Ball fans who, with all the clumsiness of a middle schooler jotting in their notebooks, made a sloppy sequel full of clumsy sentimentality. It was dumb, but it was fun nonetheless.

DBS feels the same way to me. Were decisions in the show's creation driven by sentimentality? Perhaps it was marketing? Was it the director's favoritism toward certain characters? Maybe it was trying to introduce Dragon Ball to a new generation of anime fans, all the while servicing old school fans who remember watching DB and DBZ on TV?

For what it's worth, I have plenty of complaints regarding the show overall, but I'll leave them aside. DBS felt like a huge excuse to show off cool fights and character interactions, stringing them along with clumsy reasonings and motivations. I first watched Dragon Ball over two decades ago, and I don't remember much outside of the major moments. However, that's enough to have nostalgia toward the series, and I can at least see the show's creators expressing that feeling through DBS. In all, I'm glad Super exists, but I truly have no idea where the series is supposed to go from here.

God, people sound so dead inside in this thread, the episode in terms of production was a 10/10, fantastic, and the content was just so good and even kind of emotional, some years ago if you told anyone Goku and Frieza would team up to defeat a big boss in order to save the universe, they would laugh at you, and now it just happened and made total sense, if this episode didn't make you feel pumped and etc i don't know why the hell you watched the other 130 eps because you clearly don't enjoy DB, but whatever, it's MAL i guess.

Even Frieza came back to life after the tournament as Goku promised!

Everyone is happy and Goku will be back! <3

Nº 17 wish actually shows a lot of humility and character development on his part. Even if it is a predictable finale, it would be out of character for anyone else to make that wish like Jiren, Freeza, or even Goku.

Took me 3 years to finish the last 15 episodes, the last three or so made me enjoy the show again. Foresaw the wish but never expected 17 to win. Glad to be done with this show.

The animation, the fight and the ending everything was so good it was just PERFECTION. Started crying when I witnessed the Goku and Frieza teamwork and how well they fought and defeated Jiren. I can rewatch this episode a 100 times like many others and not get bored. the theme song during the fight was so good and combined with the animation style and the beautiful creative fighting style was just absolute 100% Perfection.

What an amazing finale that managed to be exciting, heartwarming, and wrap up everything in a logical way while still preserving the shounen trope of no one actually dying.

so this thing had its ups and downs, the fights weren't very good, there was some awkward animation but i think the characters really made the show. it goes to show that everyone has a shot at redemption, but is that what frieza will choose? roshi really shined, and it was nice to see the gohan/piccolo dynamic as well. still, a lot of it was sloppy and didn't make any sense and i would have liked a slightly longer epilogue.

Overall, DBS is far from a perfect show, but it's been very fun and enjoyable to watch. The ending is pretty predictable but it made the most sense. 8/10.

Crazy. So intense and badass! The tournament of power was awesome!

just 2 more movies and the series will be finished. That is actually so insane, what an amazing journey it was. It this makes me miss the old days of Krillin and Goku training under Master Roshi and all those world martial arts tournaments. It hurts me. It hurts that it will all be over so soon. I wish it could have been longer.

I guess there is also Dragon ball GT, but that seems more like a bunch of filler arcs and it isnt really canon. so I dont think I will watch it. But actually maybe I will. It is so hard for me to decide. I want to, I really do. But idk...

I JUST DONT WANT DRAGON BALL TO BE OVER. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

im gonna watch it, idfc anymore!

ANIME IS LOVE, ANIME IS LIFE. EVEN WHEN THIS BEAUTIFUL SERIES IS OVER, THERE WILL BE SO MANY MORE BEAUTIFUL ANIME TO WATCH AND I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

It tries to do is best to blend story elements of the past to present day anime troupes. The issue i have with super is the animation, its too digital, character density is smaller.

Despite all the complaints I’ve had up to this point, I’m happy to say this was a fucking amazing final episode. The three on one final fight with Jiren was imo better than every scuffle with him before this, it was so hype watching Goku, Frieza and 17 team attack him and at long last end his reign over the tournament, this might be the most team tactics we’ve seen in this battle royale where team play was emphasized lol. And it all looked so good too, they had all hands on deck for this episode and I’m glad they did, the finale wasn’t undersold by any stretch, they nailed it. And in the end, with 17 being the last one standing (love to see it), yeah of course they’d wish all the universes back, that was pretty clear early on, I know it kinda makes the deletions of each universe not mean much but really this is the only wish that makes sense, and turns out the Zenos were planning to delete everything if the winning universe made a selfish wish anyways, so I guess those two share a brain cell after all lol, makes me wonder if the angels knew this too and that’s why some didn’t react strongly to their universes getting wiped.

And I’m glad we got one last look at each universe before the show ended, they were a range of very goofy to cool af, but I’m happy to see them all brought back, including Jiren who had a character arc over the course of the final battle, I have no idea what happens in the manga besides a handful of things, but I hope he makes an appearance again in the future, his last moments in the tournament actually made me kinda like him lol. And lastly was that tease of Frieza’s army being back, we already know that didn’t come into play in the movies yet, so I’m wondering how that went in the manga, but I can at least say this, I absolutely loved his moments in the tournament, nothing ever came of his plot to take on the gods but him becoming a true team player was a nice arc for his character.

And that was it for Dragon Ball Super, feels crazy to say that after always having this to watch for most of this year, but yeah we’re at the end now, wild huh lol. First I want to say what I thought about this final arc, the Tournament of Power, and I can easily say it’s the best of Super, not much contest, the Goku Black/Zamasu/Future Trunks arc comes close but not by much imo, this arc just had the best of everything, be it art and animation, music, fights, story, for me it just beats everything else the show had to offer. Now that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its problems lol, I’ve voiced them over nearly every episode of the arc so I won’t go into too much detail, but I can say one of the biggest issues was how meaningless the stamina was, one of the points of this 48 minute battle royale was that you couldn’t simply go all out early on, you had to conserve energy for the bigger fights. Well you know what that meant? Absolutely nothing because Goku and Vegeta never got tired no matter how many times they pulled out their strongest forms lol, doesn’t help that Universe 7 were always the ones to pull the trigger on each universe losing, it just made a lot of the things that happened really unbelievable, especially near the end of the tournament. There’s also the timer, which of course also meant nothing, they stopped mentioning it even during the last few episodes, probably because they knew how dumb it was starting to seem lol, I mean there’s just no way with how much they talked and drew out fights that there were truly minutes left for the final battle with Jiren. But I could go on and on about that, so I’ll just leave the complaints there, overall I thought the arc was super fun, entertaining without a doubt.

And I know I’ve talked a lot already, but I still gotta talk about Super itself lol. All in all I really enjoyed Super, it had tons of problems sure, some truly awful looking scenes that were rushed to hell and back, but it was a really fun journey, I loved taking another ride with Goku and the gang. Now comparing it to GT, do I like it more? People are gonna hate me for this, but… no, I think I’ll probably die on the hill that GT is the better continuation of Dragon Ball Z, and a better production as a whole. Of course GT has its problems too, but I feel the coolness of GT outweighs the bad, while in Super the bad kinda outweighs the good sometimes, you also gotta consider GT is more of an end to the series while Super is left open ended and has since had movies as continuations, as well as the manga, so it’s hard to compare them on that front, but really I just love having both GT and Super, I may be a ride or die for GT but I’m glad both exists, not really a point at the end of the day to say one is better. And if I had to rank the arcs of Super, it probably goes Tournament of Power, Goku Black/Zamasu, Universe 6 Tournament, Battle of Gods and Resurrection F, surprisingly it wasn’t hard to rank them versus GT where I had a harder time. And as for the OPs and EDs, OP2 beats OP1 imo, it’s just so much more hype but both are great, and since there’s so many EDs I’ll just say my favorites, which were ED2, ED3, ED7, ED9 and ED10.

I greatly apologize for such a monster of a post, I know this kind of thing doesn’t really belong in episode discussions but for me these aren’t good enough for the reviews category so I always put them here, until the day someone tells me to stop I will keep writing these (I may not even stop then lol). And after this, not sure if it will be immediately or not, but I plan to go back to the beginning and hit the OG Dragon Ball and then Z after that since I have not seen them in full before, probably a project for next year or maybe the end of this year, we’ll see what I do there.

Not a bad ending to a messy arc. The tripe team-up was great, and using two of their guys to have Universe 7 take out Jiren made total sense. I kept thinking about that kind of thing before. I loved that the Zenos had used the tournament as a test, and that makes total sense to me. The ending scenes were pretty nice, though I do have to say that Goku just letting Frieza go was weird and bad. I'm Team Vegeta again on this one.

Anyway, I'm glad I finally finished this show. It was interesting and I overall liked it. Some of the changes to the characters are a bit strange though. On to the movies now!
