Though i wasn't Formally Aware of exactly what Anime was until around 1996...

i was, in fact, basically edging right into Weebdom since at least around 1991-ish...
when i caught reruns of VOLTRON ("Beast King GOLION") on TV in the morning,
and was WAY into the SEGA MEGA DRIVE/GENESIS video game ASSAULT SUIT LEYNOS/TARGET EARTH;

5 - 6 years, with a 2 year break in-between, so 3 - 4 years if you add those numbers up

it feels like way longer to me, but looking at it on paper, it isn't that much

I've been watching anime since I was a kid but the age that probably gotten me into anime is around when I was like 9 or 10 years old, so probably 15 years now.

Used to watch anime without knowing it was anime back when I was kid in 2006 or 2007. Stopped watching around 2015 or 16 because toonami was over. Then got back again in 2018 and here I am. No burnout and my passion for anime still going strong. In fact it increases sometimes.

Roughly 20 years now give or take. From a young age, I grew up on that Toonami wave of shows that were a huge catalyst for the surge of popularity for anime in the states.

Since 2003 with Card Captor Sakura, started prefering anime when watching TV - so 20 years now. In 2005 I got into manga, and discovered ways to watch anime online in 2009 when I started watching seasonal shows. I think my interest with anime peaked in 2009-2012 and then slowing down until I stopped watching and had a break around 2018-2019. Got back into it in 2020 during covid, and have been enjoying it a lot again at the moment.

Since preschool back in 98' with Pokemon, DBZ and Digimon. Pretty much watched most of the animes that popped up on [adult swim] and Toonami.
I didn't start watching anime uber seriously until like 2010 I believe.

Ouch, probably over 25 years. In my case I only got two phases, unknowingly watching since the early 90's. and then I watched it fully consciously from 2001 onwards. During this time, of course... I shifted into a slower gear, but mainly because I simply didn't have time. I can't become a hikikomori in my location.

Actually started getting into anime around late 2013, so it's been exactly 10 years for me.

Can't say I'm at my anime watching peak right now with the likes of University life and JDrama recently joining the fray, but there's still a decent amount going, if you ask me. If we go by my track record thus far, it shouldn't be long until I'm fully back again, lol.

24 years. If going by when I knew what anime was, then 20 years.

Even though I watched most of the lineup from early Toonami and Adult Swim such as DBZ, Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing and Cowboy Bebop, I was still too young to grasp the concept of anime. I just thought they were cartoons having not registered them as foreign works. A part of me could tell they were different from standard American cartoons, but the true distinction was beyond my child mind. It wasn't until a few years later with Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, Trigun, Inuyasha and FLCL that the realization finally dawned on me. My grandmother showing me Spirited Away on VHS was also a key moment of enlightenment.

I started anime with My Neighbor Totoro, Nausiccaä, Laputa and Kiki's Delivery Service. I was aware of anime like DBZ, Lupin and Anpanman but was never a "fan" of these series. As the years went on I ended up watching every single Studio Ghibli film up to "When Marnie Was There" in 2014. Even during 2014 I wouldn't really consider myself a true anime fan because all I had watched up to that point was whatever disc. I could get hold of at the anime section at the movie store (under 50 titles).

I feel kinda bad, because the anime I started out with were so spectacular that by the time I really started getting into anime (2015 onward) my standards were pretty much Miyazaki, Hosada and Shinkai level which explains my Mean Score.

So I would say 2015 was when I went from a general film watcher to anime fan.

I've been into anime since 2005, so 18 years now. While I never gave up on anime completely, I did have a longer period from around 2014 to 2019 when I did not have the time to watch anime as much as I used to since I was working full time and getting a second degree. Like it would take me months just to finish one series. There is plethora of titles that came out during this gap, that I still didn't get to catch on (Kaguya-sama, My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer etc.). I hope I'll get to them one of these days.

Don't talk to me about character development if Kaizuka Inaho or Slaine Troyard are in your favorites.

My first anime I was watching was Pokemon when I was a child and I really enjoyed it. I also noticed that I preferred the artstyle of pokemon over cartoons, so it stucked to me a little that I like the visuals of an anime. Since 2015 with series like FMA Brotherhood, Elfenlied, To-Love Ru, Samurai Girls and 11eyes, I'm watching anime on a regular basis. Back then, I used to play video games way much than nowadays, so I´m spending more time watching anime than in the past.

Around 2015 is when I got into anime, I think my first manga was One Piece; for anime, it's Ore Twintail ni Narimasu!
and then I stopped watching any animes or reading any manga around 2020-2022 and then JOJO Part 8 brought me back into reading mangas and watching animes again.
I also never had a proper conversation with another anime fan.

I think there was a few anime I saw as a kid but didn't realize that it was actually anime. Started actually watching in 2015 I believe. I think my first was Naruto but it took me a long time to fully finish it as I was watching the filler too (didn't know filler was a thing at the time). Death Note and SAO were also some of the first I watched. Throughout the entire time watching I've gone through binges and breaks. Sometimes watch a ton for several months and then watch absolutely nothing at all for 6 months. Recently had that happen. Didn't watch anything for like 3-4months and then starting about 3 and a half weeks ago I've been back watching a lot. It always comes down to me juggling other interests.

Around 25 years. Not counting random anime I watched on TV as a kid without knowing what anime was, I became an "actual fan of anime itself as a medium" in 1998.

I've never experienced burnout or taken a break. The longest I've gone without watching anime in the last 25 years has been maybe a week or so, and that would have been for a specific reason, like if I was on vacation or something. I think it really helps that I don't actually watch that much in an average day (usually 5 episodes or less), I'm open to watching pretty much any decent anime (not picky about genres, demographics, etc...) so I always have variety in what I'm watching, and I have lots of other hobbies and interests, so my free time has never been just anime.

The closest I came to obsession was the first handful of years, roughly through the mid 2000s. I didn't actually watch much more anime than I did at any other time, but pretty much every extra dollar I had went toward anime merch. My bedroom was just floor to ceiling anime stuff at one point. Now, I haven't purchased a single piece of anime merch in many years, and the majority of what I bought back then has been sold. I still have some animation cels and a little box of favorite things that I've held on to, but everything else is long gone.

In general, I tend to stick with my hobbies for a long time. I can't really think of any major hobby or interest that I started in my teens or later that I lost interest in (so not counting random little childhood stuff), even if the exact way I engage with my hobbies might change over time.
