My favourites are Malice Mizer, Dir en grey, Moi Dix Mois, Sigh, MUCC, Aural Vampire and I also love Susumu Hirasawa (although he's not a band, obviously).

I'm just trying to get a list of some decent Japanese bands. A lot of the stuff I find is horrendous. Personally my favorites are Melt-Banana, Cibo Matto, and Maximum the Hormone is alright.

Seconded Loudness, man, that band is a real throwback.

I'll throw some of my favorite bands for the hell of it.

Can't go without mentioning the legendary BOOWY, and Himurock/Hotei. Buck-Tick is great too (RIP Atsushi)...

Pretty much all of the 90s Being bands were pretty amazing (WANDS, ZARD/Sakai Izumi, ZYYG, F.O.V., Manish, T-Bolan, etc.) I think those CMs back in the day really drilled them in my brain. Call me generic if you will ;)

My favorite band has still gotta be GLAY, though. Teru is hot.
