What type of ending do the series that you give 10s to typically have (sad, happy, bittersweet, bad, etc.)?

In terms of the series that I've given 10s to (both when it comes to anime and manga), I'm realizing that they have bittersweet endings (one way more than the others). They tend to lean on the happy side, but there's a very bittersweet element underneath that's hard to miss.

Typically bittersweet, some even sad. Well, I do like drama anime, and they tend to have that kind of feel throughout. I actually prefer seeig happy endings, but my score is usually set in stone by the time it's the ending. Rather than happy or sad the ending is, what usually would affect my score is whether the ending is conclusive or not - I'm not a fan of open endings.

Ending thematically consistent with the show and concluding it in a believable way.

A lot of the shows that I've given 10s to don't technically have endings yet, but for the ones that do, they're usually either happy or bittersweet endings. If the ending is a big part of the reason why I rated it a 10, there's a good chance that it's either a bittersweet ending, or a happy ending that the protagonist had to really suffer for.

My 10s either end happy and satisfying or with the biggest cliffhanger possible- probably because the rest of the show was also crazy

Clip-hanging ending, leave the rest to the viewers imagination and the anticipation of yet another story

Out of the six series I rated a 10:
-one has a very happy/sweet ending
-three have a comedic/kind of 'to be continued' type of ending (which I guess is also kind of an happy ending)
-one has a very happy, but also quite bittersweet ending I would say
-one has kind of a happy/bittersweet ending, but also it doesn't really feel like an ending, more like the season ends in the middle of a narrative arc

Literally any type of ending works for me lol. It should just be thematically sensible, consistent and in line with the story's direction imo.

I think they all end on a happy and satisfying note, some having more emotion to it like 86 and Yorimoi.

Except Made in Abyss, cough cough.

Happy for the most part, though there are examples of bittersweet, and sad endings too. The main thing I care about is whether the ending is satisfying or meaningful. It also helps if the ending seems to fit the show and doesn't leave any big plot holes.

For me its endings that are either completely life affirming or absolutely depressing. I usually don't like anything between those two extremes.

* look at what anime I gave 10s to
* see end of eva and devilman

Yea...

It's either bittersweet or complete depression. With some exception like Kaguya-sama.

Bittersweet.

Now that i think about it, all my 10's tend to have "Goodbye" endings, not deaths, just "We'll never see each other again" endings. Yugi and Atem's departure, Menma's goodbye, the Azumanga Daioh graduation (This one's open as the girls might still be friends after school but given that they're all in different colleges, it's unlikely).
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

It depends on the genre of the anime, In General I give 10 to Bad Ending, Sad Ending and Happy Ending.
I don't like Bittersweet Ending at all

It's not so much the particular parts of an ending but rather how that ending sums up a show that lives in my head rent-free. It's the bittersweetness of it all coming to an end. Sometimes, the ending is great, but it's the emotion that the ending is coming and what that entails for the whole story and the characters.

Okay, example. New Game!, my favourite show. The ending of Season 2.

That ending having gotten to know all the characters and their personal quirks and stories, knowing that this was it? That's what I'm talking about.

Then there's something like Samurai Champloo. What you'd call a traditionally great ending. Their journey complete, the main characters just go their separate ways for real, ready to face a new future without regrets, having bonded. That's it. That's the end. Different from the New Game! example because that was something I didn't want to end, but Samurai Champloo's ending is what makes the whole thing a 10. A tightly knit story with a truly satisfying and somewhat optimistic end point.

Ghost in the Shell (1995) - happy ending
SEL - bittersweet

And then

@TRC_Randy i mean it would work, but then End of evangelion would be both in sad and mindfuck.

sonny boy would also be in both that and bittersweet.

I think most of the series I put as 10 have a happy ending but my favorite anime of what I ranked 10 has a bittersweet ending. I think I prefer bittersweet endings overall when remembering my favorite endings of what I've watched though. I definitely need more recs of those types of anime.
