We're talking studio LIDENFILMS that takes on way too many projects in a year so they are an outlier even today. Almost every anime nowadays is bound to a very tight schedule which is an ill-practice that who knows when will get better or just doesn't. I'm also clearly on the side of the ''OG being much better'' camp, my main problem is honestly the bright color palette, after that the animation for mundane scenes which is most of the time just mouths moving, it's really evident from this episode alone that the biggest animation work goes to the fights alone and lots of cutting corners for everything else. |

| Just a few minutes ago i watched the original rurouni kenshin's first 2 sub episodes and i gotta say they changed quite a few things i don't like, actually the whole plot behind the first ep, the old man isn't the same one and the fake man slayer guy doesn't have any brother, he was an apprentice from kaoru's dad. And the interactions with the characters and moments were much better, and kenshin is more serious in this series and i don't like it at all, overall they shouldn't of changed the events from the original series, just make it more polished, and with greater effects and sequences, intro is pretty cool though. |
| Just found about this jewel today, returning me to when I first saw it so many years ago. And my god, it does bring a fresh breeze to it but respecting its full spirit. I just shed some tears after remembering those days years ago waiting and enjoying every new episode. |

But even if some of fillers scenes are good , you will absolutely never see any of them in a Remake , no matter the Anime. The overall tone is indeed much more serious in this adaptation tho , and it's one of its point : A more serious re-telling of the beginning of the story. |

| Bland, soulless, devoid of personality, low production value, OP/ED are terrible, soundtrack is either random, generic or both. Overall feels like an AI made it. It's just nostalgia bait and a cashgrab. |

| Now that the whole first cour is out, would you guys who have seen both recommend this version or the old one, and why? I took a peak at this episode and it looked good but idk if it has the charm that the old one has. |

I really like the opening song. Ayase always does a great job! I’m not sure what to think of the anime yet. I had high expectations, but the start is slow. Hopefully it becomes better with the next episodes.

| It's insurmountable to unpack everything I'm feeling right now. RK was one of my first real tastes of anime back in the early 2000s and has grown into one of my all time favorite anime/manga. This first episode brought back a great deal of that. It's really solid so far, but also makes me realize what a steep order it is to outdo the original's best moments. Particularly the iconic visual effects. This is also the first time I'm going to be watching in Japanese, so that shift is quite jarring. I'll especially miss Kenshin's English voice, that I will. That said, it's great that Kenshin sounds his age for a change (main reason I never watched the subs). The OP & ED are fantastic and have a nostalgic vibe to them. I'm also liking the deviations from the original anime's story...or perhaps it's more accurate to call them corrections. Drawing on a complete story also has other advantages and noticed it being put to full use already (I dare not utter it here). But that said, the only filler I'll truly miss are Ayame & Suzume (they were just too precious). |

| The animation is far better than the original, but it also feels more serious than the original. Kenshin's VA isn't as goofy as his old one. The oro's just don't hit as hard. |

| I don't remember much about other arc of Rurouni Kenshin except for Shihio arc. A good first episode... ED song sound good, and that OP video... Remind me of Samurai Champloo OP scene.... |
