Aika is kinda scary when she's angry...

I know this anime has a lot of social elements but this one felt like it was way too talkative. On the other hand, Wataru seems like a guy that isn't afraid to speak his mind. He and his older sister Wataru also seems to have a somewhat complex relationship.

A bit more focus on the sister brother relationship which got a bit out of hand at the hand.
Remember kids don't beat up your little brother with a baseball bat.

Anyway the main being totally oblivious of Aika's feelings is a bit annoying so hopefully he will realise them soon.

No Rin this episode, shame.

Kei parts were nice but still not feeling it between him and Aika. Every time she sees him or talk to him it's always insults or awkward. Must say that the problems the mc is dealing with lack good build-up to make me feel interested in them and doesn't help that the conversations are not something engaging to me.

My man has been expressing his feelings towards Aika since middle school and got rejected every time. Aika even told him not to bother her anymore, so how can my man suppose to know about what Aika actually wants?

There you have it. You have a sister who straight up bullies you along with your mother (cut from the anime). They are indeed the reason for his none-existant confidence. Last scene just reinforced that he prety much internalized the abuse and doesn't want the status quo to change since he has already given up. Aika cements her position as the worst female lead as well adding physical abuse to the list.

Also imagine forcefully interfering with family business just because your crush seem sad that she might be the reason of his brothers mental decline (she is right). Not becuase you are worried about the brother himself but because you just don't want the girl to be sad.

What a bunch of selfish assholes.

ugh, I'm torn on this show. Wataru seems to be a victim of his environment; dude is abused about his feelings/actions by his sister. so much so that its impacted his outlook. He just wants to move away form these feelings even though he acknowledges that they are still there. Then you have Aika is for all intents and purposes wanted nothing to do with Wataru until she stopped getting attention from him. So, we have a sad, dejected male lead and an attention seeking female lead. Both are assholes in their own right. He was WAY to clingy and she now misses being the center of his world.

This sounds like a terrible show on paper... but why can't I put it down? are these characters written too well? Am I looking too much into this? I don't know... but I know I'm going to keep watching to find out.

Losing half the context during times like this is certainly challenging to say the least.

It becomes even more difficult when there are many things that are skipped in the narrative. Hopefully, these omissions are more of a rearrangement rather than outright cuts, and they will prove to be pivotal later on in the story.

But let's shift our focus from the missing parts to what was actually shown this time. We got a glimpse of Wataru's outlook on himself. From his expressions, it's evident that he doesn't harbor strong regrets, but that doesn't mean he seeks pity from others. He made a conscious choice to follow this path, and it's entirely his decision, no one else's.

What is this nonsense? Why would some random pr*ck care about someone else's relations? Especially knowing that this someone stopped doing weird and annoying stuff. So, if this one pr*ck knew all that he must've known that Wataru's sis is an A-hole towards her brother. And then asks Wataru to help him to make her feel better... What an actual F is that?

Cutting out the visit to Aika's house and the scene in the student council room makes no sense. These are the parts that explain why Aika is unstable and why Kaede is depressed.
Wataru has their sibling dynamic in question. And for me, their relationship is something quite normal, but at the moment Wataru has a lot of internal conflicts, so this is a problem.

Yes, both are problematic. But that's the point, the development of each one will be shown.

Is it really? Then why the dude has absolutely no confidence in himself whatsoever? Is it self inflicted? Did all these issues of his magicly appear out of nowhere? Why did he ask her to name at least a couple good things about him than?

Because he thinks he's an ordinary guy. Wataru has had self-image problems since forever, if the anime doesn't cut it, he'll talk about it in the next episode. It's nobody's fault.
Part of it comes from the shock of "waking up", before the ball incident he was living in the "perfect world", reality hit him hard.

So bro’s sister and the girl he like are both tsunderes, no wonder his life so stressful. He can’t get a break at home or school lmao.

As soon as I go praising this show last week, they start skipping content and losing me with the pacing again. It feels like so much backstory was cut out of this episode that would have contextualised Wataru’s home situation.

It’s clear he’s a victim of emotional abuse and that’s why he has such low self esteem. Even at the end, after that heart to heart, he’s comfortable keeping things as they are because of how he’s given up. Sad

To make things worse, Aika comes and starts physically abusing him. Like damn bro just can’t catch a break.

I feel like this story has some potential with the complexities of the characters, but the adaptation is squandering any of that.

For someone supposedly so perceptive, he's actually pretty damn stupid. This shit makes no sense.

The "banter" is so painfully awkward. That 2 layered acting is cringe inducing trash. This is trying to imitate oregairu's subtle portray of relationships and bunny girl senpai's character dialogues and failing miserably.

Honestly, normally I like parts where siblings work through their problems, but here it feels like they put this in just to have something in there. Had the whole thing with the big sister not been in this episode, or the anime at all, I think no one would have missed anything.
3 episodes in an I'm not sure if this passed the 3 episode test or not - not that I relgiously stick to that at all... usually I drop after ep1 or keep watching because curious/hopefful/waifus/whatever. This is sitting in a weird spot for me.

Natsukawa looks cute, but for a female MC she isn't in focus all that much. Also more than being a tsundere, she just seems like she doesn't know how she feels. That said, it is starting to annoy me now that she is not just sad, but gets angry with him - even to the point with the sister where she thought she has the authority and insight into their relationship to be able to tell him what he can't and can't say to his own sister. She rejected him time and time again and now that he has backed off it's a problem. She comes across as just wanting the attention from him and that's it. I don't think that is truly the case, since she clearly shows jealousy when he is with other girls and sadness when he doesn't come up to her anymore, but if she really liked him, she would not have said 'no' a million times.

Nothing in this show comes off as genuine aside maybe from Natsukawa's friend. Not the MC, not the FMC, at least. On one hand I'm curious to see how things will change and Ntasukawa actually realizing she likes him, but I have never been this bored with and conflicted about watching a romcom. Not that it feels particularly romantic or funny yet either.
Oh and the student council dude dragging MC through the school for a private talk and then set it up so he would talk to his sister was so weird and forced as well... I don't know, I just feel like no one here behaves like a human being; even less so than most other anime. Like they're androids with AI trained on awkward data pretending to play human in a school setting.

Jesus this show gets worse every week. Cliche's are fine but my goodness this is cliche to an extreme.

The Sibling issues seemed to come from out of nowhere. Very weird. =/

Lack of Rin was unfortunate as well.

It summer and its hot but at least the school has air cooling. Sajou sees Aika in her summer outfit. Sajou sees some of the photos from when that guy went to Aika's house but Sajou out here sending the pics to the sister of someone lol.

Sajou is talking with other girls when Aika comes and drags him away and throws him against the wall, damn she's angry. Sajou now trying to figure out what is going on and gets called to the student council room to talk with one of the councils or something and the council thinks that Sajou changed because Kaede. Sajou goes up to the rooftop to meet with Kaede and Kaede is also worried about his sudden change i guess, but out of nowhere Aika & Kei show up, basically they followed Sajou and Aika doesn't even know why, will this be an 180? will Aika end up following Sajou? Anyhow Kaede turned back to normal.

Sajou grabs something from the store before returning home and when home Kaede is as expected on the sofa with her phone and Sajou says sorry for his rudeness and when he says that he is about to eat all of it but the sister takes it from him and this guy ends up taking photos of her, well then. I guess you could say this was an rather complex episode.

The drawing quality died in this episode xd

Removing the cursed frames throughout the episode, the plot focuses more on the sibling relationship between the protagonist and his older sister.

The relationship is very good, despite being very annoying, she does care about her brother and vice versa; she reminds me a lot of the dynamic I have with my older sister xd.

Natsukawa seems to have already begun to realize that it was what she "lost" and she feels bad about it, she deserves it xdd

Let's see if for the next episode the quality of animation and drawing in general improves a bit xddddd

If it irritates Wataru that Kaede's sudden change is her way of feeling regret after years of being a bad sister to him.
Then the same thing also irritates Aika with Sajou's sudden change because it is his way of regret after years of chasing/stalking her.

In my opinion, this episode shows why Aika is mad with Saijou by the analogy of Sajou's situation with Kaede. And the irony is Sajou didn't realize what Aika is currently feeling even though he feels the exact same way with her sister.

I don't think he actually was bothered by his sister seriously but rather due to others treating him this way, notably the one incident described in the anime which lead to him meeting Aika. I think he understood the type of person his sister was and that she cared and didn't let it get to him. That said, many other characters have treated him as extremely average or worse, notably comments about his face repeatedly.

MC isn't moving away from his feelings but rather he never thought he had a chance to begin with and later came to a realization about his very behavior being problematic and also not making sense to begin with for someone who believed he wasn't even worthy of her and never had a chance (the whole idol/fan thing...).

Aika's situation is a bit more complicated though and, pleasantly, isn't the basic tsundere trope with no depth, at least so far.

MC actually doesn't come off sad to me, at least so far. He is more resigned and understanding of the impact he has had and his situation in some ways but is now growing and meeting new people as well as understanding the consequences of his prior actions. He still is very much trying to support Aika and cares but his perspective has shifted. His biggest issue is his lack of confidence and he likely needs to still yet better understand the him of then and of now as well as better ways to engage with Aika as well as his own self worth. This, fortunately, gives Aika room to grow as well.

I don't thinks he missed being the center of the world but that she took his feelings for granted and did like him but expected him to always be there and underestimated her own feelings. Think along the lines of realizing the value of something too late after you lose it. His behavior prior was definitely absurd, though. It is interesting to see the author work in the multi-layered perspective of outsiders take on the situation ranging from her best friend to the student body and how they accept it, joke about him being a stalker, but also talk about them being quite close and her actually being okay with his sticking to her because she doesn't actually dislike him and such.

They didn't. The post from the other thread the viewer actually skipped content. They didn't realize there was a post ending scene with the visit at the house. They also somehow missed several details of episode 3 that I'm a bit confused how they missed.

I think it is probably just a minor bit and probably not an overly important part of the show's story so I wouldn't stress too much. I think they just wanted to give some fluff to make the world more alive and give more depth, even if it is ultimately just that... fluff.

Once again Wataru gives a very valid reasoning for why he is keeping his distance, and the other girl (Kei) he's around just doesn't freaking get it and keeps making it all about Aika and comes off like she wants him to go back to his bad behaviour (seriously, leave the guy alone in regards to her). I also don't like how Kei keeps sticking her nose in what should not be any of her business. Once or twice fine, but after that, take a hint and stop trying to meddle between the two leads, it's up to them to decide where their relationship goes and if any progress gets made. And speaking of Aika, she's just annoying, and she had no right to meddle in his talk with his sister, especially when she's always being rude to him herself, and the sister was guilty of it too, but oh sure he's in the wrong. That one guy friend with the two girls (and those 2 girls themselves) are just as unlikable as everybody else and one wonders why Wataru wants anything to do with them or anyone in this show. The sister ironically became more likable by virtue of feeling her attitude was causing issues...all undercut by the end because they have to keep the character the same for the sake of jokes. The so called pretty boy meddling in Wataru's personal business got on my nerves too, and acts clueless when told why he (Wataru) quit going after Aika even though it was plain obvious. Wataru not knowing Aika likes him is justified given how she always acted and how now she's giving mixed signals. It's really her fault, I can't blame him. I think that's it for me. Gave it 3 episodes, but aside from the MC himself, and maybe the two minor girls from last episode, I can't stand any of the characters. It's sad too cause I liked the idea. Who knows, maybe something similar will be made down the road that's written better.

If you're looking at this from the perspective that his previous behavior was unwanted (calling it "bad behavior"), then you're not paying attention. Do the other students treat him like an actual stalker? No. Do the girls think he's a creep for constantly harassing this poor girl? Again, no. Everyone else could see that while these two had a very unconventional dynamic, that they enjoyed their interactions together, even if that boiled down to him being overly familiar, and her telling him off. So, as dumb as it sounds, these two were "friends" and then due to his sudden revelation, he pretty much started completely ignoring her. Just try to imagine what sort of mindfuck that would be for her, and then add on top of it that she's too dense to understand why she's feeling depressed and frustrated by the situation.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

Once again Wataru gives a very valid reasoning for why he is keeping his distance, and the other girl he's around just doesn't freaking get it and keeps making it all about Aika and comes off like she wants him to go back to his bad behaviour. Speaking of Aika, she's just annoying, and she had no right to meddle in his talk with his sister, especially when she's always being rude to him herself, and the sister was guilty of it too, but oh sure he's in the wrong.
First off I am paying attention. Them being okay with it doesn't mean it is not still bad behavior, it just means they personally had no issue with it (though they should have). And yes I get the girl's perspective of being bothered by him, which is fine and even get her annoyance with him at the time, but I lost any sympathy for her after he backed off. If she was only confused and wasn't openly hostile all the time after that, I probably would still care (not enough to keep watching, but just my opinion of the character) about her to some extent. Also, he literally told her straight up in episode 1 how he was bothering her with the constant confessions and decided he wasn't going to do it anymore and wants a normal relationship with her (as classmates). So she already knows why he is backing off and trying to move on, but still acts like she doesn't get it even though he did tell her already, which puts her into donkan levels rather than just mere dense.

the last episode was good, even if I don't appreciate everything like the reaction of the girl or the fact that that we force the mc to talk to his big sister...

the interaction between them was not bad but at the end, something is really missing for me...

we don't even know what was is plan to change his behaviour...
