Feels sad for Arnheid. The emotional episodes are really the best.

Thorgil plan almost worked. He might've been a little too hasty rushing up as soon as Wulf left. Probably should've waited a bit long until there was more distance. But he still came very close, gave Canute a nice gut kick and head stomp. A very bold plan that nearly ended things right there. It was the right move to call a retreat even if Ketil didn't want that. Things were sour from the start and didn't look like they were getting better. Ketil pride kept those men there to die, what does debt forgiveness matter if you're dead. Ketil taking a blow to the head despite Canute order to capture him. Canute needs to get a better handle on his soldiers, they're disobeying orders left and right on the battlefield. Arnheid finally passing over to the other side. She can now be with her husband and children. Fading away as her dying words expressed gratitude to Einar and Thorfinn. Those simple days of exchanging stories by the well every morning are long gone but still deeply cherished. I can fully understand Einar rage at seeing Ketil right after Arnheid just died. I'm not sure if it was the right decision to not let Einar get a few licks in on Ketil. But Thorfinn new way of thinking wouldn't allow his friend to go down that path. Thorfinn himself going off on a dangerous reunion with an old friend.

Oh wow, that was quite the fast battle. Even Thorgil failed at killing Canute because yeah PLOT. He could have easily killed him just like the two other soldiers standing nexto him. But, it is what it is. The soundtrack during Arnheid's final moments were just LEGENDARY.
Thorfin's choice to stay back and let there not be any more deaths shows how much he has changed. It'll be crazy to see them have a conversation again.

Don't underestimate Canute. He is a skilled warrior. He might lack in strength but much clever than Thorgil.

All hyped up for the Thorfinn/Canute meeting. Look how our boy has grown, all ready to talk to Canute straight, trying to solve whatever has been going on there. We all know it's not going to be that simple, but heck... we just witnessed the birth of Thorfinn the politician! Our brainless boy is no more.

R.I.P. Arnheid.

After a long time the brutality and the cruelty of this world was shown here. It's so sad to see that innocent people like arnheid are involved into this sh*t and are consumed so much by the dark effects of it that they don't even wanna like anymore. Now I understand how Jews felt.

Politicians and leaders have always tried to annex lands, countries etc but do normal citizens like us really want it? Japan was immoral during ww2 but were the villagers or citizens the cause of it?
Arnheid definitely had a really tragic life, atleast she can rest peacefully:(

I strongly agree man, it's just that the earth is so beautiful but because of these stupid childhish dreams of the leaders of any country throughout the history affected so many people who could have just enjoyed their lives like arneheid. This fact of the world is so pisser that I can't even Imagine about it cooly.

Great episode, Thorfinn's character development is goated, it's one of the best develpments in anime history. From thinking that running away from war is lame, to thinking it's the best decision. This anime is so revolutionary and counter culture. We live in a world were wars are justify by pride and human ambition for power and money. The worst of all is that soldiers serve thinking they are protecting, when in reality they are destroying families, dreams, hope, faith, innocence. Dear men, we need to restore society and humanity. We live in a dark world and the only hope for us to restore the light is believing in Jesus Christ. We need to ask God to give us the power, the strength, the wisdom, the kindness to cast light upon this broken world. Dear soldiers, you are not chasing your own dreams, you are fighting for the ambitions of the ones at power, don't be deceived by evil, don't be deceived by lies, don't be deceived by hatred.

Thorgill takes the middle of the battle again, but Thorfinn's determination is what creates hope in this great story. From the calm of an almost idyllic paradise, despite slavery, to the return to the apocalyptic cauldrons of war, violence will never leave anything good in this world, but man is corrupt in his heart no matter the thousands of years that pass, That is the great curse of humanity...

Thorgil was so close to kill Canute. I was like maybe the Canute is just a fake person there, but lol I'm so satisfied to see Thorgil beat the shit out of the two. xD
Snake alive and happy for him. I like how he is so tolerant even after what's been done. I simply like his character. The same goes for Thorfinn.
The uncle will have to leave alone without Thorfinn this time too.

Snake & Thorfinn are by far among the best characters in the series. They are simply so mature and kind and think rationally. They are indeed strong.

Holy fucking shit it's finally going to happen. Thorfinn is going to see Canute after all these years. I can't wait for next weeks episode. This episode was fantastic itself tho. Thorgil's attack was badass and the main guard dude coming to defend was equally as so. I loved seeing Fox's perspective for a bit at the beginning of the episode as well. Then the pain that was Arnheid's death and Snake showing up. Oh man this show is special.

Again somehow Vinland Saga manages to create an adrenaline filled epic action scene in the first half only to overshadow it with emotional gut punch in the second half of the episode. The last couple of episodes are nothing short of masterpiece. I pray we'll get a S3

I never thought Thorgill would succeed in killing Canute at the end of last ep and sure enough plot armour comes to the rescue for Canute in the form of Thorgill pausing to talk completely unnecessarily but we did get to see some action. The animation looked quite clean and well done.

I didn't think Arnheid would get killed off. I get that she has nothing to live for but einar and thorfinn had nothing to live for a while ago. I think there was more they could have done with her character but this makes sense as well keeping in mind she was badly injured but the way they framed it made it look like it was her decision to pass on. In the end, she was a tragic character and a happy ending was just not on the cards

Thorfinn recalling the story Lief told him about their ancestors fleeing from war and finding Iceland, how he used to think it was lame but now he's proud of them. Fantastic line of dialogue. The music as he heads off to meet Canute is so good. The ost for this season is just so well done and should not go unnoticed.

Him talking isn't inconsistent with his character though.

I'm okay with the action being toned down this season, but damn what a wasted opportunity not seeing Thorgil in action, tearing through his enemies. Him getting close to killing Canute is impressive though.

Looking forward to Canute and Thorfinn's convo next week. Both men have changed much since they last saw each other

This episode was a masterclass.

From the brutality of the onesided massacre, to the badass one-man assault from Thorgill that was almost successful, to the tragedy of arnheid and lastly we are met with Thorfinn's determination to end this bloodshed.

Will Thorfinn also come across floki i wonder🤔

It is in this moment because it's stupid and he's not a stupid character. He knows that his plan to kill Canute is the only way they can win and he wastes precious seconds on talking for no reason. It would be one thing if he was provoked or taunted by Canute but that's not the case. We saw him cut down so many men so quickly a few episodes ago and now he can't kill Canute who was right in front of him

I am glad they did because Einar was crying, so it makes sense to give him some time to sort his feelings. The dialog with Leif was nice; I am glad they changed the dialog from "I forgot something" to this one.

What an episode... and "pain" is the perfect name for it, so many deaths and sadness... and especially with Arnheid's death that was inevitable. Thorfinn is going in now, it will sure be something.

The Viking age was long over by the 1300s lol. This would’ve been around the early 11th century.

I'm not surprised. I assume some people were most likely invested in the anime cause season 1 was a gorefest full of action and revenge, without actually understanding the kind of revenge story the writer is wanting to tell in the first place.

Wars change even the toughest of people. Fox realized it at the right moment to save his life. While Ketil got lost in his foolishness.

Snake and Thorgill were bold this episode with their understandings. Thorfinn moves to face Canute. Next episode is gonna be epic.
When someone asks me why I like anime, I'd say Just Because.
