| Gil hands down is one of the best written characters in anime. This is attributed to something very unique to him--he appears in so many different roles throughout a number of adaptations. In each of the three FSN routes, Gil died, yet each of those deaths were very different and revealed a distinctive aspect of himself. Furthermore, it's awesome to see how, despite him acting so different in each adaption, his moral compass and actions are extremely consistent to what his values are (as written out in his SGs in extra CCC). As such, it isn't a plot hole that Gil decides to commit genocide in FSN but enjoys himself while gambling and being nice to kids when he is summoned ten years later in FSF: It is literally just that he acts differently under different circumstances, just like any other complex human being. With that being said, older Gil (casgil) is the best Gil person-wise. From what we know of him as Archer Gil, he developed as a person in every area: He is nicer, has more mature ideologies, is sociable and friendly , more fully understands his position as king and his duty to his people, has gained the ability to look back on his actions and reflect on them, and has a much better fashion sense. Never in his remaining lifespan would he even consider wearing the monstrosity that is his Fate/HA outfit. |

| From a writing standpoint, I think my favorite character is Enrico Pucci from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure part 6. I genuinely think he's one of the best main antagonists in animanga, but I'd have to go into spoilers for Stone Ocean to properly explain. As far as kind characters go, I'm not sure who's the kindest. There are a few good ones I can think of off the top of my head, but honestly, I think Mumen Rider from One Punch Man deserves some appreciation outside of memes about him secretly being the strongest character or whatever. He has absolutely no powers, he's not particularly strong, fast, or intelligent, he's just a dude with a bike. Despite that, he goes out of his way to try to save people from monsters that he stands no realistic chance of defeating whenever the opportunity arises. He's fearless, pure-hearted, untouched by twisted ideals that could corrupt him or get in his way. All he cares about is saving people and delivering justice. He's what all of the S-Class heroes should strive to be. |
| Writing Wise: I haven't seen any character come close to Natsuki Subaru in terms of high quality writing. Everything from his ideals to his struggles are so well-built and developed that you can't help but vigorously cheer him on through thick and thin. I'm usually not a fan of analytical literature, but I could seriously crank out a 10 page essay praising his character from a writing standpoint in just one day. Personality Wise: Honestly, I would also give this to Subaru again. The dude is charismatic, funny, brave, and kind to a fault. None of these traits are over-the-top to the point where they feel artificial, but rather, all of them stem from a natural sense of wanting to get along with others. However, if I had to pick someone else, I think it would be Satou Kazuma or Joseph Joestar as they have both made me cry laugh several times in their respective animes. |

| Best written is maybe Griffith, especially in Golden Age Arc. Well at least IMO, he is better written than any characters mentioned above lol. Best personality is maybe one character from Iyashikei or SoL. Maybe Yuno from Hidamari Sketch or Renge from Non Non Biyori. |

He would never betray a friend or leave them stranded and has been shown he isn't afraid to ram his space pirate battleship through the gates of hell to see them again.  |

| This thread reminded me how solidly written Nasuverse characters tend to be My personal favorite is probably Kotomine, who's an amazing deconstruction of the typical "evil for the sake of being evil" villain, and a perfect foil for the Emiyas As a person, Hana from Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki is impressively devoted and hardworking for the sake of her children, and despite the numerous struggles she faces as a single mother she never complains nor shows regret once I aspire to have even a shred of her perseverance ❤️❤️ |
