I think 8 looks fine, The manga version of 8 has a lot more details so it's understandable why his design was made to be more simple for the anime with good lighting this design can work, Kafka on the other hand looks kinda off I am not sure about that one maybe it'll look better animated.

If he looks like this in some cheap frames it’s one thing, but this is how he is being presented, a first look at the character, they didn’t help themselves, it looks pretty damn bad. He looks almost entirely different, from the chin, to the ears, to the eyes. I understand adjusting for an anime to change the designs a little, but this just doesn’t look good. Hopefully it’s like you said, and the animation elsewhere is where the effort comes in.

Same thing's been done with Naruto. This is arguably one of the best- suited designs for animation I've ever seen because of the lack of angular lines and general roundedness of the characters, like in Boruto. The loose style allows for animators to employ their personal quirks without the character looking too off model, and if that happens during production Nishio can just step in. Tetsuya Nishio has some of the strongst AD work in the anime industry. Kaiju No. 8 is going to have a lot of sakuga lmao.

yeah it doesn't make it better just allow better animation on a tighter budget take edgerunners they had lots of unique designs but animation was great what would be better suited is better looking character

Indeed that looks very subpar, all designs look way less striking on the anime, the MC Kaiju's mode looks so SHIT, just look to his chest, that fucking thing looks more like a suit he dressed up, than a badass transformation.

This is very early, the anime is stated for 2024, I have some hopes things will improve, a TON!
