No, not necessarily but too many tropes can ruin an anime.

Nope. Some anime do them well and besides, these tropes are popular amongst fans thats why they became cliches. If fans didnt like these tropes then it would have never become popular.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

No, I'd even say that the mainstream audience values the uniqueness of the premise way more than they should, even when the execution is lacking.

Yes, you should explore more about anime. There's a lot hidden gems that need to be found by yourself.

If execution is bad like demon slayer then obviously it's shit.

But some anime perfectly execute these cliches and are actually good.

Depends on what you look for in a show. If you are looking for something new, then too many cliches will definitely turn you off. But sometimes, you just want to watch a show that presents it's plot in a great way despite it being overdone in the past. In that case, how the plot and characters are handled is given more preference as long as it doesn't blatantly rip off another well known story of the same genre.

No, it's all about getting the audience to buy into your premise. If you can't do that even movies that are not cliche can be bad.

Well, it's definitely not going to do any good to the series, but I guess in most cases you can easily overlook this and just enjoy the ride.

Not necessarily. I believe that an anime doesn't (and shouldn't) have to be groundbreaking or stunning or whatever in order to be enjoyable. Just like what you like.

Not really, if it's generic/cliche but well-executed, then I'm eating it up.
Who are you and why do you show your hostility towards a complete stranger whom you've not once spoken with before. Are you seriously asking to get blocked? Well, if that's what your intent is; to tempt me into throwing hands with someone as lowly and insignificant as you, then i may grant your wish provided you articulate yourself a bit better when trying to spite a person of my wavelength.

If a series doesn't at least tip toe outside the box and try to take a few risks here and there then it can get repetitive.

If you're expecting everything to be unique and never ever done before, you'll probably hate every anime that uses a familiar trope even if it's arguably well made, however, if you're just looking for entertainment as long as it doesn't insult your intelligence, simple things can be good too. It's just when these so called "generic, cliche, tropey" anime don't do anything with it's themes is when things go bad.

Sword Art Online and Fate/stay Night rely on each and every fantasy trope and they're still unique and amazing. FMA is a clichéfest of 'in the nick of time' but it doens't makes it a flaw since it is masterpiece and everytime it is justifiable. Yeah.

There are occasions where a simple or familiar story can be likeable with good enough presentation and characters. Princess Connect Re:Dive is a good example of this.

I think generic and cliché are two different things, cliché itself doesn't mean anything, you can take a cliché and make something amazing with it. The Last of Us is one of the best games ever made, but it's full of clichés, the difference is HOW these clichés are used.
Now, generic is when a work takes a cliché and simply uses it, without trying to do anything different. Taking "the Power of Friendship" and simply replicating it in the most standard way possible, without trying to give it an identity.
So, to me, a generic show is bad, but a show with clichés can even become a masterpiece.
If you're a fanboy, please don't waste my time.

Watch more movies, please.

Perhaps, this is hell.

as long as it's entertaining it's good, and as long as it isn't the same overdone few things i've seen before.

but you have to keep in mind that even if you've seen it before doesn't mean that everyone else has either, and just because someone's seen a cliche before doesn't mean you know of it

You can play the same tropes as long as that's not the only one that's driving the whole show.

No. I find a lot of generic or cliche anime pretty entertaining. I mean, basically 95+% of isekai are generic and cliche and yet I still enjoy them. Even if they tend annoy other people since there are just so many of them lol.

I think it depends on time/place/person. By this I mean: who views it, when they do in their life and even how they do it. Just as well as who works on it, when they worked on it and how much money/time they are allowed to work on it.

For some people, it does. But not for me. Some ideas can be repititious. But if they're able to do it in a way that's entertaining, that's all that matters for me.

It depends on how much care and passion is put into.
Lodoss-tou Senki is the most basic DnD adventure, but you can see the passion the creators put into that.
I really miss fantasy adventure series like that.

Nah, it's the actual content that matters. You can still enjoy something even if it's generic.
I'm either crashing out or fujoing out.
