The 1st time I saw that I sarcastically thought to myself "that doesn't seem mafia related in the slightest...". After saying all this 4kids isn't really a bad company. In fact it helped me find suitable Anime for my daughter to watch when she was growing up. During this specific time period my wife and I let her be exposed to such Anime as Pokémon, Kirby, and Tama & Friends. I actually enjoyed watching some Pokémon with my daughter. Granted I wasn't so interesting in Pokémon that I would have ever watched it by myself. |

| Talented voice actors, some really good quips and comedic writing, and meme potential. I do think they overall damaged the Yu-Gi-Oh product in the US by aiming it at a younger target demographic as to this day cards are still being censored for ridiculous things to the point where characters are having armpits censored now, and the plot of the first 3 series were severely ruined by their dubs removing any references to death and messing with some character motivations. However, Yu-Gi-Oh has some really good punched up dialogue in particular with quite a lot of the mid turn dialogue being made a bit snarkier and filled with more trash talk compared to the Japanese version. Kaiba responding with "Nah as the president of a Major Corporation I have to do that everyday" in response to Dartz saying that he would hurt an innocent soul and if that would make him feel bad was just so funny, and dub Kaiba naming the Dueling Monkey after Joey was fucking hilarious and petty. I've been watching the Arc-V dub and comparing the sub, and while this was done by the remnants of 4Kids at 4KMedia, it was actually pretty accurate for the most part and had those added jokes so far. Idk if it gets wrose with accuracy of the plot later on but I wish the older series had this good balance I am seeing so far |

| the only good 4kdis did when it comes to "anime" was handle yugioh, and make it popular. 4kids was fired from their pokemon duties and got handled better. A lot of 4kdis people still handle yugioh. Their yugioh dubs are still an abonimation. |

The trash talk is pretty good and well written, the only poorly written dialogue in my opinion is the stuff trying to censor the fact that some villains want to kill people, a few punchlines that did miss their mark with the jokes, and they way they just gutted Yubel's storyline in Season 3 of GX. I definitely prefer the Japanese version overall, but I don't think all the dialogue changes are terrible and some are rather well done since they do get the same meaning across while adding a bit more personality The yugioh dub is just godawful, even all the way to vrains. I say the first 3 series have decent dub soundtracks but after that it is kind of awful. As for gx, they outright didn't even dub the best season |
| Definitely nostalgia, but nowadays, I root for better ADR companies. 4Kids superfans disgust me like some hater from Hawaii that doesn't know half the profilic voice actors names (doesn't know Kevin Conroy, Dee Bradley Baker, John DiMaggio, Tress MacNeille, John Witherspoon, etc). Can't even pronounce Japanese names right. If the hater's going to be spending time watching anime, then that jackass should at least respect Japan, their culture and their language. I grew up with 4Kids, but I prefer the original actors like Megumi Hayashibara and Shinichiro Miki. The original Japanese actors even get more roles, both anime and non-anime. I wonder what haters say to that. Mad respect to Megan Hollingshead for putting real effort into voice acting beyond children's anime and is one of former 4Kids people that aged well. Glad she got a role in FF7R. Definitely the reason I played Tales of The Abyss. Absolutely one of reasons why I binge-watched Fafner in the Azure. |

| Largely just for nostalgia as I grew up on their Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh: Duel Monsters dubs. In hindsight, former still holds up for me since it was actually one of their more faithful dubs to the source material. The latter, would rather dabble into The Abridged Series for Duel Monsters over the 4Kids dub. |
