have you ever been to a zoo? how long ago? whats your favorite animal to see? What do you think about zoos?

i just got done visiting the zoo with my family. it was a lot of fun. the zoos in my area all claim to have rescued animals or protecting endangered populations so assuming thats true i think zoos are ok as long as the animals seem happy

My parents always wanted to go to the zoo and I never wanted to. I was bored being there, I wonder if I would like them now.

Visited one this year two times. Came to conclusion I don't particularly like them. But I won't brush off each one and can see what good they can do. Just ensure everything is legal and any possible issue is fixed asap.

This summer. I don't like them because it feels like an animal prison to me. I'm not an animal activists and I love eating meat, but there's just something perverted about caged animals being depraved of freedom for the sake of human entertainment. Most zoo animals look lifeless and they probably wouldn't survive in the wild.

My hometown has arguably the best Zoo in the UK, and it does a decent job in breeding endangered species as well as helping out other Zoos. I think the last time I went to it was in 2019 when they had Dinosaur and other prehistoric animatronic exhibits there temporarily. Obviously it's not exactly ideal conditions for Animals to be in, but may in some case be more favourable than their Country of origin.

My favourite exhibits are tropical houses, although I remember the one at my regular Zoo being much better many years ago, as they had reptiles & insects in one particular area, which now has been sealed off😢

I guess my favourite animal to see would be a Bearcat, although I don't think my Zoo has those, I remember seeing some at another Zoo though.

Scary places that make animals go crazy. I have been once with my grandparents as a kid, and never since... Think about it, if zoos cared about protecting animals, they would just offer them appropriate shelter (not those small areas) and avoid stressing them due to forceful human interactions. Zoos would also have much more "ugly" animals. "Zoos" that protect animals do have a name: they are called "nature reserves."

I like visiting the zoo with my nieces. We used to have a family account so we could go as many times as we wanted during the year. They also do a Christmas lights show so we'll probably go to that this year as well. I always liked seeing capybaras but we have some famous hippos in ours so we always go to see them as well.

I remember having been to a zoo only once. It was..fun. The lions were drugged and only slept. The monkeys were freaked out and were holding each other like a war shelter. The hogs were actually cool though; I threw a banana at them and watched as they ate it. Uh what else? I think that was the only time we had a zoo in out city. There were also circuses with lions back then too but having animals in circuses got banned at some point

Exactly my opinion.
I went to the zoo in summer with a job programme I was doing, and I just felt so bad for the animals there. The meerkats and the wolves... they seemed so lifeless. It hurts my heart.

The areas here are pretty large, and most of them resemble the natural habitat of the animals. Whether nature reserves are better is of course debatable, but some species would not be able to survive on their own in this environment/climate and they have already become endangered living in their natural one.

I think this depends on the zoo. If you go to one that does research and works to better these animals' lives, then I'm all for it. Same with Aquariums.

The most recent one I went to was the Oregon zoo. They've been helping restore the bald eagle's natural environment, which is really cool. My favorite animal to see is probably the sea otters and red pandas :)

thats interesting about the hippos some people at the zoo today were calling the animals by name at the exhibits so its cool to me that people visit alot and maybe my family will become one of those

I think I went, once or twice, when I was a kid. I don't remember much though. I don't know how I would feel going to one now.

This ground is soiled by those before me and their lies. I dare not look up for on me I feel their eyes

I like zoos, my boys love going to the zoo, the one we go to has an Elephant that you give him $ usually a coin he will ring a Bell.
Give him two coins he rings it twice and so on, my twins love that, I give them each two coins and ding, ding, ding, ding goes the Bell. My eldest is like "this is stupid" but then ask "papa where are my coins" 😂
Me every time I hear the word "reparations": 🤣🤣🤣

I went a few years ago just because I couldn't think of anything better to do. I don't have a particular favorite species, but I like reptiles and amphibians the most.

same

as in same zoo

lmao

anyways im mostly anti zoo and pro nature reserves, also now days when i go to the zoo i want to find the closest related thing ti humans amd then just stare into each others eyes. like great apes or even just monkeys. this is kind of fun i think, and i dont like connecting with the animals as an exhibit really, that just feels weird

My favorite zoo is the casual discussion board on MyAnimeList.net

In my opinion zoos are a necessary evil. In a perfect world we wouldn't need them, but unfortunately we live in a world where some animal species will go extinct due to different circumstances and zoos are the only way to preserve these species. And for what it's worth zoos can also be very educational (sure you can just look shit up on the internet and watch documentaries but regardless). Of course this only applies to zoos that take good care of their animals. Bad zoos can go burn in hell.

I've visited several zoos in my life and quite enjoyed it. Seeing such animals in the flesh really is different than seeing them on film, even if they're only lazing around.

I've been to the zoo. I think the last time I went was about 3-5 years ago. I like owls, polar bears, wolves, raccoons, Japanese monkeys, and capipalas.

I think zoos are good places to see animals you have never seen before. There is a big difference between zoos that have a good environment for animals to live and those that don't, so when you go to a zoo where the animals are alive and active, you will want to watch them for hours.

The Zoo is fun.
I like to bring fresh fruit and taunt the monkey's by eating it in front of them.

I think I went about 5 years ago and I really enjoyed the Zoo as a kid. I would literally drag my mom around the zoo all day and make her follow my antics lol. My favourite place in the entire Zoo was probably the reptile room. I think that Zoos are both good and bad. I don't like how animals are in cages but I think that if you take of them properly, giving them all the necessary things the animal needs, then its fine. Also Zoo's help with Endangered species which is what I like about Zoos as well.

Ah, ah, you have convinced me with the dates at the zoo. But I don't buy this propaganda, most endangered animals are ignored, especially the ugly ones that even "objective" researchers tend to ignore...

Do you realise that most zoos have basically the same animals?

Reason for that lies in that all the animals in zoos are born in captivity or rescue animals from illegal exotic animal market, at least that we know of. It's pretty much illegal to capture wild animals, even if it was for some breeding programme today. So if we don't see any "ugly" animals in zoos you can really just blame past humans in their want to see exotic animals, and those cunts who want them as pets.
