It's shown a bit more of Chisato's past and we'll see more present action of other characters, maybe in the end they will help with fighting for Chisato's freedom? We'll see:) I liked this episode

Okay we get to see Chisato past and how she got the artificial heart but even then I don't know the reason why they destroyed it. Also I don't know what that Yoshi guy want or Majima. But at least Chisato and Takina brief moments together is very cute, I enjoy that

The show just managed to make the entire episods really heartbreaking, even though it still had those chilled vibes. As the mistery around Chisatos past starts to clear, many new questions thrive.

@all_marbles_lost

can't a romantic couple have been friends first?
Yes, but not in this anime SO FAR. It's pathetic when people pretend those two are fated to be a Yuri couple, or even worse - pretend like they're Yuri couple already! Even though there hasn't been a single hint.
Two girls cuddle - Yuri.
Two girls smiling - Yuri.
Two girls sitting together - Yuri.
Two girls worry for each other - Yuri.
It's pathetic...
would romantic involvement between two people of the same sex ruin their friendship?
Unrelated question... My answer would still be NO though.
is it that abysmal for us to want a bit of mainstream rep?
There are plenty of such shows. Why FORCE rep in shows that aren't meant to represent you(in plural) though? It's annoying how these days boys/girls being close is immediately portrayed by some as Yuri/Yaoi. Best friend relationships and same-sex romantic relationships are different!
i don't think that LycoReco is a yuri show inherently but i also don't think that interpreting Chisato and Takina's circumstantial bond as potentially romantic would somehow hinder literally anything about this show.
Well, there's "potentially romantic" and "romantic". It seems like people don't know the difference. When Takina and Chisato sit together in the park, or go shopping or laugh - we don't see anything that hints at "potentially romantic!" It's absurd to say "best friends are likely to develop romantic same-sex relationship." It happens, but very rarely. In other words, it's very likely that Takina and Chisato will remain best friends and not develop romantic relationship, and yet, without having any evidence, there are people who claim the two are in love or will fall in love eventually. It's as if people kept saying these two have some incurable disease and are destined to die! Yeah, it's possible but where did you get that idea??? There hasn't been a single hint!

In this show, we just see friendship developing between two girls. Then there are horny, pathetic people who have to barge in and declare "omg, they should've kissed!" or "such a lovely Yuri couple!"- This is what I call defiling. Wishful thinking of delusional teenagers with no social skills.

This has been bugging me a lot, what the fuck prevents them from getting Chisato you know..an actual flesh heart from a donor. lol
Unless her OG condition somehow prevented that? They still jammed the artifical one in her anyway.

After this episode I'm 100% sure the ending will be Takina donating her heart to Chisato, prepare your tissues.

I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THIS , ISTG THIS BETTER NOT HAPPEN , unless they pull uno reverse where they give Chisato Takinas heart and give Takina one like Chisato has now

Wow, first of all, this aired yesterday and there over 200 comments AND over 2,200 poll results! That's the most I've seen for one episode within a day of airing that's neither the first or last episode (I'm sure other popular anime have had these numbers though). I've read through a couple of pages of comments and there are some excellent points and possible theories how this may all play out. This episode went so fast that I felt it lasted only 5 minutes! I was feeling a lump in my throat throughout because of the black cloud of death over Chisato, but typical Chisato didn't let her pending death down her.

I've had questions in my head regarding Chisato and her artificial heart such as is there a replacement? Maybe that's what Shinji was holding in the briefcase at the end of the episode. Perhaps they had a plan to offer it to Chisato in exchange for doing some assassination-type missions? Regarding Takina and some thinking she'll sacrifice herself, I don't doubt Takina would do that but I hope it doesn't come down to that. Just a theory I have is that Majima directly or indirectly helps out Chisato and we find that the villains are either the DA and/or Alan Institute (I know I should be more specific but its all just a hunch). Regardless, I do cautiously look forward to the next episode.

Glad I switched up the viewing order of the shows I'm watching, because the next month will be an emotional roller coaster ride with Lycoris Recoil.

The one thing that stands out to me in this episode that hasn't been talked about was, during Mika's and Yoshi's conversation about Chisato's mechanical heart, Mika mentions that Lycoris "are active until they're 18 at best". Considering what we have seen with how DA runs their operations, that should not be a big surprise to anyone, because one has to be good and / or LUCKY to survive that long.
So, one query that come to mind: if a Lycoris manages to see her eighteenth birthday, what happens to her then? Is she allowed to leave DA with no strings attached? Stay on as a member of the support staff (which may be the case with Mizuki)? Or, because they are orphans so therefore no one would be looking for them ... quietly "disposed of"?
I bring this up because Chisato is seventeen at the start of the series, and has to be close to her eighteenth birthday at this point in the series. So, if by some miracle the issue around Chisato's heart is resolved... is she truly out of the woods?

I love that the show finally took a darker more somber turn (should've done so a couple episodes ago tbh). If the ending will be a happy one without either Chisato or Takina dying it will be very disappointing but so far there's hope for emotional and dramatic conclusion

Chisato's birthday is september 23rd, the anime might be already beyond that date. Which means she is very likely already 18 years old at that point in the anime

The Alan Institute only supports/saves people with a special talent. The supported people do not need to pay anything, but there is one catch. They need to fulfill the purpose given through their talent at it's fullest. And they will be forced to do that, as seen by Chisato

See, I take issue with that because Chisato's ability to dodge bullets doesn't mean she has to be a killer. Yoshi just saw her dodging bullets and decided that she has to be a killer. She's already the best Lycoris DA has largly due to her ability so why does she specificaly need to kill? Is the anime saying that the Alan institute just decides what your goal in life is once they help you? If so, what's the motivation? Because "God gives people talents so we have to deliver them" is a moronic, self-righteous, grandiose motivation. And we know that the Alan institute may have been doing this for a 100 years so is there a really old guy that has that ideology or is the entire management made of morons who inheret the same mission to "deliver talents"?

Damn. Chisato is trying her best to keep smiling, but she is obviously frustrated, furious and afraid of dying.
Reminds me of that Pancreas movie.

Yeah I love how they show her frustration, in particular the scene on the highway with Mizuki; it was a nice (but sad) touch. Normally Chisato would probably be the kind of character to shrug off two guys yelling and complaining at them for driving slow- but instead without hesitation she unloads a clip into them. And it's obviously not played for laughs because we are shown a concerning look on Mizuki's face, as we move to Chisato who has her face turned away. The start of this scene also opens with Chisato's face turned away as she looks out the window, transitionally immediately from her answering the phone back at the cafe in her usual cheerful manner. It's so sad to see such a contrast...

Her frustration mostly seems to be centring around how it's affecting Takina, as she was the subject of their conversation before the two guys in the yellow porsche started yelling at them. This was also right after Chisato noticed that Takina was acting distant as she just walks by without a single remark on Chisato making her forbidden poo parfait or whatever it was lol.

But man Takina does not go and slump in a corner and instead takes things into her own hands and tries to make the most out of the time that Chisato has left. And then after a heart-to-heart they part ways as it begins to snow... idgaf if it's generic or whatever, stuff like this will get me every time. Like of COURSE her heart has a durability problem, of COURSE it can't be fixed, of COURSE there's only one like it (or is there... I mean they took the time to animate Mr. Shinji here putting down a briefcase as he was held at gunpoint coming out of the car... probably intends to bribe Chisato with it, but Majima's probably going to grab and give it Chisato for a happy ending), but as long as it makes sense, and as long as you care for the characters, it doesn't matter; you'll get hit in the feels even just a little bit.

We've had a lot of fun and games, but I'm sure most of us are expecting these remaining 4 episodes to be something else. I for one am not ready. Give us that bittersweet ending and put us on the floor in a sobbing mess.
