Like a bolt from the blue!its time 4 another threadview!

Well since lot of people on here love stuff like Haikayu,One Outs and The Big Wind up. I figure I may as well do a sports themed anime thread, but what the fuck this is the ultimate fucking edgelord prince of fucking darkness crow’s threads here so of course its going to be an fucking edgy styled thread covering the lesser known shit lmao. XD

So for today I'll go with 2 series that I think you should consider looking at.

Idaten Jump

First sports anime I've seen as a kid, and also one of the earliest anime I've seen as well too. Its an isekai but it sure as fucking hell isn’t a fucking neetaku wetdream kind of isekai either and lol no the x-zone is not something I'd name that’s the name of the supernatural biking area of the anime.

Its cheesy in terms of story, characters and humor and the biking scenes were decent and the animation was aight. And I liked the bike designs.

I can’t really remember much bout it since its been like a really long time I've seen it but other than that it was cheesy but maybe the fans of biking would like this.

Kaleido Star

The most recent one I've seen and its one part magical girl and another part sports with its focus on gymnastics. And also I swear to fucking god, that I am so fucking brain rotted by Kingdom Hearts I'm drawn to like anything that has “Sora” on it lmao.

First off Jonathan the seal was just so precious!! <3

If you like fairy tales, some parts of the anime also recreated stories like the little mermaid.

I personally liked Sora and Layla and I found their polar opposite rivalry to be a compelling aspect of the show as well as the gymnastics stuff.

Some of the cast, I was just meh too since some of them were jealous ass spiteful cumdumpsters, that hated on Sora for the most pettiest of reasons as well too. And Sora was quite the hardworker in achieving her dreams as well too.

Sure there was some sad moments like
but otherwise it was pretty optimistic in terms of story tone.

And overall, I found it to be quite an entertaining show and also by Junichi Sato as well too.

So these are the lesser known sports anime I found entertaining and now what bout you guys? Got any favorite lesser known sports anime or manga let me know and enjoy the thread!!

Uma Musume. It's very popular in Japan so maybe not "lesser known" in that sense but it's certainly not as popular here on mal

Idaten Jump for me.

I also watched it like 8-9 years ago as a kid, rewatched it last year. Loved it.
It is kinda cheesy. The story is fine, same for the animation.

But, believe me, its soundtrack is possibly one of the best soundtracks you'll ever hear.

I really loved Stars Align (though one can argue it’s a bit more drama/slice of life than straight up sports) but I can’t recommend it because of the deeply unsatisfying cliffhanger ending (which is not a “do they make it to nationals!?” type of cliffhanger but a “is someone about to get murdered!?” type of cliffhanger).

Unfortunately it looks like it will never be continued, nor is there a manga to read to get closure. It’s too bad because up until the cliffhanger it was great.

Major is a classic which doesn't seem too famous. Also Ace of Diamond, but as two of baseball animes, it might be boring. I enjoyed Ace of Diamond though.
Too few people talk about Hajime no Ippo nowadays. Boxing with a very good plot seems to be missing it's viewers.

Inazuma Eleven is stupid fun if you don't expect your sports anime to be coming-of-age dramas (not that there is anything wrong with this, but seems people like to weight on those aspects a bit too hard). Eyeshield 21 manga is also good at doing both, can't vouch for the adaption tho

@Crow_Black see you talking about Kaledio Stars makes me happy, even if it would be a hate review, or a badass review. just see people talk about it makes me happy.
Nice to see that someone actually have watched it.

H2 and Major about Honda's kids is really good. Two shows a lot of people have ignored.

I'd say Giant Killing - best soccer anime that I know of. Really captures the whole club atmosphere well since it focuses on not only the players and games but everything around it from the backoffice, PR, recruiting, different fan blocks, etc. and remains grounded while doing so. And while the anime sadly only ran 2 cours - the manga is still going strong well past 400 chapters.

Slow Loop, Birdie Wing: Golf Girls' Story and Houkago Teibou Nisshi (My rating: 9).
Not sure if Chihayafuru can be classified as lesser known sports anime but might as well drop it here.
