Idk why but I see a ton of mal users with over 1000 shows on their list, and I just ask myself, why? Anime is amazing but you should still have a life, and having completed quadruple digits of anime, does no make you cool.

Complaining about why others have watched so many anime doesn't make you cool either. All the people are not the same you know some people are watching anime for so many years that's why they have 1000+ anime on other than there are some user aswell who have 1000+ because they add so many useless shorts, music etc.

I agree with the original reply, regarding the message in your post. Doesn't mean you're obsessed with something if you had lots of time doing it; just look at music. Regarding the title, there are some people who obsess over anything. If you're a mega fan of Dragonball and have seen the whole shows tens of times, then that's already more than 1000 anime (depending on the ones). Asking why someone is a mega fan of DB, or trains, or jets, or mechs, or psychology are all as valid as asking why someone is obsessed with anime. The reason being they like it a lot, for various reasons.

Well those people have been in anime watching for years and also their lists contains alot of shorts, specials, music videos, etc. And besides that everybody loves to do what they like in their free time who are we to say if they wanna see animes its totally up to them well but u are a bit low i have actually seen people with more than 5000 entries quite often these days who have been watching these atleast over a decade now and well pretty sure when u have been through that much time u will also have above 1000 entries your interest in animes grow weak gradually ofcourse but thats because your taste matures and everyone keeps hanging to find next big one which is gonna blow their year while just passing time with others. And as for your answer i think they have their own lives nobody i have talked to with so many animes feels typical kind of otaku with no so social life and just animes even i am quite social since my list is also above 500 and yeah its not for looking cool its for keeping track of your watchlist just like imdb if anyone wanted to look cool they wouldn't have been in this area of social networking in the first place where fking 90 percentage of the population doesn't even have their real life pfpπ cool my foot

You can kill time and still have a life. Given enough years, you'll be well over 1000 lol. Most users also log OVAs, specials and all kinds of other shit as well. You reach the numbers before you know it when you enjoy what you're watching. I remember being well under 200. All I do is catch around a few eps almost daily with an occasional binge to pass some time among other stuff in my life. My friends easily waste more time gaming and they still have a sweet life to post about half the time even during these rougher years lol.

There are some people who rate music, experimental shorts, and short OVAs that are under 30 minutes long, so that could be one possible reason why the completed number is high. Another reason could be that some people have watched anime for decades, and watched consistently each year. Watching 30 anime every year, for 30 years, would lead to 900 completed. All the completed titles end up accumulating over the years. But at the end of the day, watching anime is just another type of hobby, like playing video games and watching movies. I personally would love to reach over 1,000 completed one day, but that’ll take me an extremely long time.

Well if it is your goal then you'll probably reach it. I don't consider having anime as a hobby worse than gaming, in fact I consider it better as you actually learn about a different culture. I have posted on numerous COD threads about people obsessing over the game, so yeah.(by the way I looked through your profile and you have very good taste). |

"Why do people obsess over anime?" Jokes aside it's bcoz they urmm, like it? The same way gamers having played hundreds if not thousands of different video games? Same case with moviegoers? And just bcoz they have 1000 anime doesn't mean they DON'T have a life.
