| Well, Demon Slayer has some scary and gore elements, that could traumatize some lovely kids who just want to enjoy japanese cartoons, while World's End Harem is a friendly anime that contains wholesome scenes. World's End Harem was also good because it contains school material, kids around that age needs to learn about biology. |

| I don't think it applies to this case. Taking Seitokai Yakuindomo anime as example, it has R-17+ rating for lewd jokes as its main theme. No violence. |

Japanese tv doesn't have any formal age ratings system, it's up to each channel to decide what's ok (for example AT-X is known for more extreme content, usually being the only one to air uncensored versions of ecchi... also late night slots are more permissive in general, see Code Geass s1 vs s2.. But now i don't rely on the content rating, i rather read LN or manga than anime when in public. When the meme appear on my reddit, i realize "Ouh so im not the only one who think MAL content rating is suck" that's why i try to post about it here. |

I've submitted edits at least twice to get this corrected, the first one over a year ago, and it hasn't been changed. |

| I believe it has to do with the content shown on the original broadcast, which leads to a lot of shows that should be "R" (specifically ones with sexual content) getting a "PG-13" because of the TV censorship. The eventual uncensored releases don't seem to change the rating on here often. |
| Nande Koko ni Sensei ga!? is still PG-13 despite the readily available uncensored version, and the fact I've submitted an R+ for it multiple times. MAL's system is particularly flawed in that nothing has as much weight as a single areola. | Well, lack of moderators I guess Its not just rating which is messed up. Lot of other thing require moderation like Tags are also messed up, samurai champloo has shonen tag even though its anime original and new doraemon movie has a seinen tag...lol. There there is Double page, joined page for creator of same name, Creator whose content is not listed in full, many anime whose cast and character are empty etc. I have done many edits. But very few is noticed and corrected |

| Pretty easy explanation - the database is mainly filled by user submissions. As long as no one submits a change request a rating isn't going to change and PG13 is literally the default that gets slapped onto most titles. |

As noted earlier in this thread, there have been cases where multiple requests have been submitted and the rating still hasn't been corrected. |

MAL is largely operated by run by volunteers but beyond that they don't control The Rating Board that classifies and rates the actual titles. If I had to guess the Rating Board had not watched the entire series of "Shuumatsu no Harem" since it only aired one episode a few months ago before they stalled it till recently and instead of not giving it a rating they classified it by it's genre and determined it at least needed to have a PG-13 rating. Something like this is not uncommon to happen and if this Anime series ever gets popular enough it's possible it might be brought back up to The Rating Board to be re-classified when the actual series finishes airing. "Demon Slayer" on the other hand has much of a precedent to go by so it wasn't hard due to it's popularity to give it an accurate rating due to the violent nature of the series. |
