Looking at the episode forum threads, it's no secret that this anime didn't live up to the expectations after episode 1.

What was the biggest letdown for you?

The fact that the anime is about after the detective’s death but it barely shows anything about her. Sure, she’s getting mentioned all the time or whatever, but we don’t get to know her character. She might be dead, but I’d love to see how the MC’s character is built and changed by her.

We’re getting this by flashbacks and characters from his past it seems.

The first episode shows quite a bit of Siesta. It’s why everyone is crying because she was a more compelling character than Nagisa.

My problem with the show is none of the characters are that good. Siesta was cool but we knew she wouldn’t last. And the detective work of “btw I already knew” will get old quick if they lean on it too much. But we’ve only had one real mystery so far. I know in episode one she said a good detective always knows, but it isn’t very appealing when it’s every mystery.

I like the show so far. I think the hype died down because the first episode was just that good, and the rest of the episodes are not as good. Also nice pun.

I thought the first episode was great - watched the second episode and I've almost lose complete interest in the series.

I honestly just wish the plot was just like the first episode - Siesta and her sidekick going on cool missions and doing detective work, maybe building some romantic tension as it went on. You could get a lot of mileage out of that considering how awesome the first episode was. Instead they skipped all of that and have changed the vibe completely.

It's not even that they killed off who is easily the most interesting character in the series - of course that's bad, but the main character also seems completely different. It makes sense that he would change, but its jarring when it's so sudden, and it's disappointing that he went from an interesting character who gave me Araragi vibes for whatever reason, to someone who seems generic.

I don't want to overreact, it's obviously just two episodes but I've never seen two episodes have such a dramatic drop off in quality and intrigue. The fact that I now just desperately want to see Siesta and the MC's adventures together and know that that will almost certainly never be realized in an actual series makes me wish I hadn't even watched the first episode. I just hope Siesta is brought back somehow, but it would also make no sense and is very unlikely to happen anyway.

I'll probably end up pushing through for a few more episodes, and hopefully it'll get more interesting.

"I knew it all along" stuff is really bad, I hate it. Illogical plot still reasonable, since sometimes I enjoy nonsensical plot. Cliche harem tropes is good for me. So yeah, it's the sudden of all mystery revelations.

"The hype is, already dead". Nice choice of title my guy.

And yes, the hype is gone. I saw a LN reader say that the anime would get better at the 6th or 7th episode. Imagine a single cour anime taking that long.

It's dead. The anime has a great concept and awesome marketing plans. It is set for success. But then, a horrible thing happened. The show aired. It is so BASIC that I can't even imagine. It's literally every anime ever. And those every anime ever is doing even a better job than this. How can someone even able to butcher a magnificent concept this MUCH? Super weak first episode, at least the ending was strong, the main interest character is gone. Finally after 40 minutes of boredom, something's good. And then you know the rest. It just went downhill from there. Such a waste of potential.

Yeah. This is exactly how I feel. I can live with all the other stuff, but this is just your standard and mediocre detective series. Despite the main twist. It'd be a different story if the mysteries were more intriguing.

Yeah it kinda it is. The second half of the first eps is kinda fucked up, but I can't complaint, since the anime got adapted by a "new" studio so it is what it is. And you know, the studio is also the one who make Full Dive RPG last season which is one of the worst anime last season so Detective is also fucked up. I even cringing the whole eps while watching it, like some of like heart thingy is just weird everything is just too unnecesary. But the plot is still a.... not really good because the plot is feel too forced, just an internal problem plot like school festival, Nagisa heart problem, etc is just too unnecesary, and i don't even get where's the detective part? If it's just solving internal problem it's just too unnecesary

Edit: I think I need to stop ranting about everything

Every episode is generally with haphazard developments with no explanation or proper build up into anything really. “SPES” and “androids” are just shoehorned in for some elaborate conspiracy that isn’t even properly established within the story.
It’s more of a show to just go with the flow I guess.
The detective mysteriesl are extremely weak, even if we were to ignore how it completely violates the fundamental rules of a mystery. They’re also so varied; one moment you have Siesta and the sidekick fighting some Parasyte who looks like he should be in an entirely different series but next moment you have them chasing a stuff costume.
The story itself is half baked and generic, filled with romcom antics and harem tropes. Nothing substantial to any of the characters either.

I sure hope the so called “new detective” who I can’t even name b/c of their lack of character and relevance at the top of my head isnt some replacement for Siesta, just because “they have the same heart”.

It's still hype in my country, even after Mizugi siesta appeared my instagram is full of Siesta xD...but well it looks like people only watch this anime to see the fanservice not the story. no different from any other harem this season. well for me only Vanitas and Sonny Boy really present an interesting story to follow.

when the guy had his ear grow I started losing interest, it is getting worse and worse with every episode, now we are at werewolf, giant monster and mech

I was so invested in getting to know more about Kimi and Siesta. But the ending scene of episode 1 was like “Ha, that’s cute. Suck to be you cause Siesta is dead”

Flashback episode in ep 4-6 makes it even worse. Siesta is already dead, why would you reintroduced her back?

Maybe through the light novel the plot is well constructed but the anime it’s a bit haywire. I’ll continue watching just for the sake of I’m already on this train.

Never read the LN, but I imagine they skipped or cut out some content which could explain why I've been confused ever since the flashback arc (or whatever the arc is supposed to be called). Overall I quite liked it until after the "idol arc" as I'm gonna call it. It's just the whole flashback thing that's confusing me at the moment.

OOOOHHH!!!!! So it was a "Twitter hype"!!! That explains a lot of the hate part. And I was wondering why this show (that doesn't have any ecchi or boobas in every corner) had/have soo much hate. Now I understand!!
Nothing of good comes from that place!! It should be just shut down for good!
For the ones that like to bother others (like me) with "you should read the manga/LN", please stop. I don't read mangas, I will NOT read mangas, I will not listen to what manga readers complain in adaptation to the anime counterpart, I only watch anime except in very few and specific situations.

Honestly, the hype died in the first episode for me. I read the synopsis and the idea caught me instantly. I like the mystery genre, although I didn't watch too much mystery anime. And here it was an anime with an interesting plot, with good animation, pretty characters and romance, that is the genre I most watch in anime. But what did I get from it? A complete mess. The mystery cases were completely ilogic, the actions of the characters were completely absurd and the only interesting character was Siesta, who died in the first episode. They killed the only thing that was good in the anime, that's why the hype died. They haven't made good use of their premise nor their good animation. I'm still watching, but I wait nothing from this anymore, every interesting thing that appears from now on will be a benefit. That's how I'm feeling watching this arc of Siesta before she died.

'Tantei wa mou sindeiru' was for sure the most hyped up anime this season, and from what i saw in the first 2 episodes, it definitely did have potential, but by episode 3 things started to get dull, the plot twists felt really forced and the fan service was as apparent as ever, despite having predictable curveballs, it's still really hard to tell where this show is going. Though it's obvious they're gonna start to highlight the romance aspect since the "mystery" aspect of the show is pure garbage.

I thought that the Dragon Maid and the Slime 2nd part was the most hyped for this season... Every Youtuber said that... I think people nowadays don't have much to chose -.-
Anyway, I don't dislike the show at all. It had its promises but didn't stick truthfully with any, what it's a little bit sad. I like it anyway, it kinda let a little bit of joy on my time, but surely there are better animes this season to watch.
