Kawamatsu backstory was low-key big sad ;_; He, Inu and Neko were so cute, tho lol This was so wholesome in a quirky way. Charming character dynamics is where this series can truly shine. Here in this flashback we have it pretty much at it's best. Oden chose himself one hell of a squad. It was inspiring and moving to see the Scabbards working hard on themselves in order to repay the man they love and who changed their lives. Yasui was a real one btw, respect on his name and fuck Orochi. If I had to nitpick something it would be that there should've been more space between the sequences of events. Yeah, crazy that I think an episode of One Piece was too fast xD but since this a flashback and the manga wasn't any slower either 🤷🏻♂️ Had also a bang at the end. Another legend arrived, the one and only oyaji in his prime. Impossible to say that I didn't love this episode and it will only get better. |

This was a nice episode. Pacing for all the recruitments and such might have been a tiny bit too fast but tbh I'm just glad we've reached the whitebeard part and from now on, It'll be amazing episodes back to back to back to back. Kawamatsu's backstory was well done in terms of color and I like how they made it blue and white with the use of silhouettes. All the moments with the scabbards were really heartwarming and I really enjoy seeing them all together I can't wait for next week. |

This episode was fun to see and watch. So cool to see Whitebeard back. It is too bad the old voice actor of Whitebeard passed away long ago. Though it is still not too bad to see a younger voice to give it a shot even if it is not the same |

Probably more annoyed that I thought Whitebeard would be in this episode and he showed up in the last 30 seconds. |

Man, what a great episode. It really feels so good to see Oden and his vassals slowly becoming a family-like group. Kawatmatsu's story is short but heartbreaking, just goes to remind us about the Fishman discrimination. Inu and Neko are so cute too! AND SHIROHIGE IS BACK AAAAAAAAAAAAAA |

It is kinda of a spoiler lol but I worded my question badly, I should have asked if it was introduced in this arc or not. |

When One Piece ep has a very brief recap, you know the ep will be filled with events, and sure enough, just as it was in the manga chapter, this ep have a quick pace to show Oden from the age of 18 to the age of 27. From zero to hero, from a disowned son of the shogun to becoming the daimyo of Kuri. Oden has an aptitude to attract those around him in addition to his overwhelming power, allowing him to conquer all of Kuri and have a bunch of quirky, lively retainers by his side. However good the retainers are, they won't become who they are today if it wasn't for Yasuie's generous charity. Thanks to him the hooligans became known as the Akazaya Samurai, the strongest, smartest and capable samurai in Wano, truly befitting of Oden himself. Amazing ep, I especially love the scenes showing the Akazaya samurai showing off their moves, but hohoho, the fun is far from over! Edward Newgate AKA Whitebeard has now crash-landed on Wano, prepare yourself for an adventure of a lifetime! |

Something I do want to mention. The story behind the Akazaya nine and how they joined ODEN really is not the focus of this backstory beacuse act 2 provided enough exposition so i think ODA was actually just briefly going over it again so you can kind of understand it from the point of view of ODEN this time around because obvously he is a new character not shown in the story until this flashback arc. How ever, much of the story and tale that you are about to witness is everything told from the point of view of Oden Kozuki and what transpires during his life as legendary samurai of wano. Many secrets, mysteries and legends will come to light through this story, so sit back, and get ready for the tale of a life time. Side note: what is up with the damn clickbate titles though serously. Crunchyroll releasing titles that have nothing to do with the episodes content, but instead is more or less the ending cliffhanger of the episode. These titles should be saved for the next episode. if this is how things are going to be, i would be careful anime watchers because some titles could containt HEAVY spoilers for people that are not reading the manga. Whitebeard for example was supposed to be a suprise. If it were me I would just skip past the title cards and no watching previews. no serously do what I tell you! |

I love the commercial bump. It is saiko! Yeah the pacing of the episode was faster then the previous one's. But, for me, that was a plus point. Yes, the dedication these ex-hoodlums have towards Oden is beyond comprehension. From peasant to a prince to a king. The one and only Oyaji in his prime. Hahaha. Man that is bang on point innit! |

PS: Yeah, the titles and previews are revealing too much. But the episode is filled with so much more. This episode's preview was about Oden fighting Ashura Doji but the episode had so much more. We got to even get how the minks ended up with Oden and how the other hoodlums changed into a fierce, knowledgeable, mannered guardians of Oden. I'll skip the previews from now on or else watch it a day before the episode airs cz the story is going so well that I can't keep myself from watching it. Yeah because of that I feel like the Will of D is being passed through the Kozuki clan too. I may be right or wrong but I don't wanna know that XD. It was touching to see how a bunch of good for nothings come together and become so devoted to Oden. In spite of being opposite to their nature, they fully utilize Yasuie's generous offer and outshine themselves. Yeah it was a very moving episode. As someone rightly said in the thread we get to see "The one and only Oyaji in his prime" XD. Can't wait for the next episode! |

Well for some reasons it felt like 18 year old Oden's haki/or advance armament haki(ryou) was more powerful than Luffy's Haki. Plus his childhood was even more ruthless than Luffy's. Now then there still are many members of Rocks Pirate that we don't know. See this who are those and are they that powerful that they are showed with the Three Yonkos. |

Remember guys there was time when ever Whitebeard appeared on screen or just merely mentioned in the anime, that the studio would instantly flash back to Marinford continiously like we always had to be reminded of those events even when they had nothing to do with present stories. Thank god we are not dealing with that shit anymore. |

Oh and btw guys it looks like next ep, things are going to slow down just a bit. Thank god because this next part coming up needs to have some time put into it. I don't want it to go to fast. Even if there's a lot more to tell it's nice to see things slowly come together in the story of Oden. The little showdown between him and Ashura was exactly what I expected. And what Oden created out of Kuri and it's people is just amazing. I can't help but shake my head when I see how good Big Mom used to look like lol. Rough start for Kawamatsu, Cat Viper and Dogstorm. Oden really saved their butts. The scene with Catviper throwing the big bowl with Oden to the floor because it was to hot for his tounge was pretty funny. Just imagine Sanji in this situation, oh boy haha. Terrible what happened to Kawamatsu and his mother but it suits the mindset of the people in that timeline. Something isn't human = must be bad. Wow just wow. Oden even lent money to Orochi? This makes me even more mad. >.> I loved the change of Kinemon and the other Akazayas when they finally became worthy Samurai for Oden. When I saw Kiku's older brother, I immediately felt a resemblance. So he really was 1 of the Whitebeard commanders. At Marineford just from his first appearance I also thought he was a woman like with Kiku in Wano. Now that explains why. Finally some more Whitebeard and his in their younger age. Am I wrong or is his new voice actor Ryuzaburo Otomo who also voices Crocodile? Of course there won't ever be a replacement for Kinyu Arimoto but it doesn't sound bad. |

Oden's backstory is really good and interesting. The old gen dude's story is itself like a new gen shonen. Amazing. The pacing is superb too. |

This is very pleasing to watch, Oden flashbacks are being done so nicely that as a manga reader I don't have a single complain or problem about their pacing or animation quality. The upcoming stuff will just keep getting better and better and I hope we can get that classic One Piece feel while watching this awesome flashback. |

I wished the fight between Ashura and Oden was a bit longer. It only lasted for a couple of minutes where there were a few slashes. Nevertheless, the animation was okay. Also, nice to see dogstorm, Nekomamushi, and Kappa together. Looks like they have known each other for a long time. On another note, it's amazing how big they become in only 3 years. Looks like Fish-Men (which I never knew he was up to now) and Minks grow-up very fast. Also, it's strange seeing Inuarashi and Nekomamushi get along so nicely. Usually, they are all fired up when seeing each other. Orochi is a sly guy. I bet he was the one who killed or had something to do with Oden's father passing away. Looks like he wanted to be the Shogun from the start. Sly just like Blackbeard. Cool to see Whitebeard again. Sad to see his VA has changed. I guess the old VA has passed away. :'( I liked the old VA better, but I will get used to this one too (though it's too dark for him). |

WolfWood37 said: Now that we got the Akazaya story out of the way....time for the main event. This is why manga readers as well as Oda's editor Naito have mentioned previously that oda is rushing things a bit to fast in wano and why the editor proclaims that a 4-5 year approximation for the end of one piece is feasible if the story continues at this pacing. We were kind of hoping the anime would elaborate or expand upon some of these segments in the story but it doesn't look like it. Thankfully upcoming episodes will only adapt 1 chapter this time around so things look to slow down a bit. |

I was on verge of tears :'). Such companionship. It's beyond moving. Why One Piece keeps on doing that! Chaden is a good person from the core. F. I'm flooding with emotions. For every single scene, I was either smiling hard or was awe inspired. Yeah, it's normal for parts of a flashback, especially when they're not the focal point, to be faster. PS: I was missing the Mountain God they stitched together You were missing mountain god? XD. Could you tell me at which min he was shown? Oh like you meant it that way. Lol I misunderstood. Yeah they didn't show Mountain god. Here is he in the manga btw |
