In the beginning of the pandemic i thought finally i have all the time in the world to watch all the anime that has been put on my plan to watch since forever.
But, Instead since the pandemic start what i do is just playing genshin impact, listening to trash taste, and watch vtubers.

I remember the days when i first start getting into anime where i watch 1 or 2 seasons a day.
Now i can't even watch 2 episodes or more in one sitting.

Is this what people call "Anime Burnout"?
And is it just me or is anyone feeling like this now?

Could be burnout. Switching things out helps or you could just take it slow.

Last year I was focused on mobile games I have not touched any anime show. Then this month I'm just focused on reading manga. So until I feel "tired" of doing the same thing I'll just keep on it. Before pandemic I was just focused on work work and work.

The change in your routine could've caused the feeling of burnout as well since we're limited in our daily lives it's faster to feel too confined.

I get burnout every now and then. I would suggest taking a break if it's hard for you to watch any anime. You may eventually come back to it.

Just slow down to one or two episodes a week, drop everything you don't enjoy or put aside anime entirely for a time, don't make a chore of it.

Well you might be true about my attention span LOL.

But is watching anime at 1.5x the speed enjoyable?
Since i've heard people are doing this too.

I also have a friend who can't finish anime and he only binges those with a lot of episodes that are still ongoing.

Wdym, you actually doing things right. Genshin impact all the way!

Anyways, try find out what you like in an anime, what you look for. Try being specific. Don't just pick any anime.

You gotta have some kind of specific things in an anime that will hook you.
Nowadays I also can't binge watch unless the anime really hook me.
For me it's usually bromance or a character I like.

I personally found it enjoyable. I'm the type of person who dislikes the cliffhanger feel. For me unravelling the story/plot is priority over animation/music..etc. It took some practice but I can watch 2x with no problem (excepting shows that have dialogue bombs). It's easy enough to go back and rewatch scenes anyway. Sometimes I even slow-mo actions scene especially when the effects are really good.

And yes I do still feel the emotion. I cry and laugh and get angry. The trade off is that my unconscious learning of Japanese has died.

Quit Genshin Impact, cut down on the Trash Taste and don't forget to take the meds. In a week you'll be new & will be able to bingewatch 2 different seasons at the same time, good luck!

well, unless the show has some really pretty animation or music, i always watch anime in 2x,, it just feels right (for me personally) and now that i got used to speeding up, watching below 1.5x feels like its dragging on for ETERNITY.

well for most ppl ik, watching in 2x isnt enjoyable AT ALL and they prefer 1.5x

You’re probably getting bored of the anime you’re watching or it could just be a burnout. Take a break and just come back to it when you feel like watching anime.

Because most anime is recycled ideas and badly executed shows, a lot of them are mediocre especially the slice of life, high school stuff, incredibly bland and dull that after you see 1 episode you lose interest, the pacing is off, the music is generic, the characters and the art is bland and dull, the story is recycled or uninspired.
The ones that try to aim for different ambitious things often fail due to terrible execution, its just that the average anime is actually bad/mediocre and not a lot of anime is good imo, less than half the shows are even worth watching. This is the result of mass production of mediocrity. I would prefer that every year there are only few shows but actually well made and worth watching instead of mass production of high school slice of life and generic shounen.

So basically you're worried because you're watching anime at a normal speed? Most of us do. And no this isn't anime burnout.

Couldn't relate more, go back a couple months ago and i could watch a season of anime in one sitting. Nowadays im barely even watching 3-4 episodes a day. I'd like to think it's because im burnt out rather than thinking that anime has become boring to watch since there is a wide variety of options.

what i've found is that how good or how much i like an anime correlates to how fast and how many episodes i'll watch. when you first find anime you have pretty shit taste so everything is good but over time it gets harder and harder to find stuff that satisfies you.

"Anime burnout" happens because you need more hobbies to spend your free time on. If all you are doing in your free time is watching anime then of course you may get bored. Play video games or something. If you're creative, draw or write. Practice cooking, sewing, gardening. The world is your oyster.

I feel the same. Unless I'm watching something I really enjoy (which there aren't many of) I find it difficult to watch more than 2 episodes a week. To me that doesn't apply to manga though, so if you don't want to leave the community maybe you could try that? I'm pretty sure there's more manga content than anime content anyways.

I peaked in summer 2020 where I was easily able to watch 20-30 episodes a day. Sadly, I can't do that many episodes on a daily basis anymore due to a mix of having a busier life and getting tired of it easier. I'm still able to keep up with every seasonal and watch whatever I want to as well so I can't necessarily relate but I can definitely see where you're coming from.

I was stuck in a burnout phase for quite some ago like two months ago but it eventually wore off and now I'm able to watch again.

Just at the start of quarantine is the time I started reading manga online and currently as of now I have about 600+ manga's that I read online then when the new anime this season came up I started watching anime again and it just doesn't do it for me anymore, I feel like reading manga is much better than watching anime I just find more enjoyment reading manga's than watching anime

Honestly most shows are like that for me. Guess what it means, it means all the anime you are starting are bad boring shit. Im bored with almost every anime these days (exception for kuroko no basket, which is the most over the top shounen sports anime of all time and does everything stereotypical sports anime do, which makes it so fucking good) If i'm not with people or outside I'm never having fun these days. I miss middle school when I watched more than half the anime on my current list. I genuninely could enjoy things that arent physical activity.
you're cool

If you don't feel like it, then the best course of action would be just to stop. Try out other things and eventually, you may want to watch anime again
