"in a story world we are free to explore the darker side of our personality without having to worry if we are actually bad people" - part of the youtube video

yep definitely Thanos, Joker, Shishio (Samurai X), Madara (Naruto), etc are some of the top villains for me

how about you? and thoughts overall

EDIT:

"we live in a society" - Joker
"survival of the fittest the strong shall live and the weak shall die (literally and figuratively)" - Shishio
"reality is often disappointing so now reality is whatever i want it to be" - Thanos
"as long as there are winners there will be losers blah blah... hate is born to protect love" - Madara

Only if they are realistic and its understandable why they turned evil. I like it more where the villain was just a normal person that was corrupted by something, and that any one of us can become like that too.

A good example is Adolf Hitler... if only he was fictional... since he's real fuck him.

It entirely depends on the writing and characterization, but also a good villain can sometimes be one without any explanation at all but that only works in certain specific cases. For the most part I can't enjoy a story with a 'villain' unless the writing is solid and the portrayal of the villain is pulled off well by the actor/seiyuu/writer/etc.

A good example is Adolf Hitler... since he's real though he was extremely based and redpilled.

If you want decent quotes from an anime, try Makishima. The quotes you gave are incredibly bland, especially the Joker's one which is meaningless.

Any character of Fate is better than Shirou and any character of To Aru is better than Touma (excepting... Index), and that includes the bad guys. Otherwise, one can think that Aizen is the only one who wants to address the decline of Soul Society, even he his goal is nothing but selfless. Makishima is one of the few with a functioning brain of the country, his goal is relatable, and he is just cool. Kaiba is not embarrassed like Yuugi with self-righteous principles and goes as far as threatening him to kill himself just to win. He just has so much character development and willpower that one can only root for him, even if we know that he will never win because of "destiny." I also like moral neutral character like Kiritsugu, but not much people like Gilgamesh and Kirei.

I really like Thanos. And yes, I’m a basic bitch.

I also like Lunatic (Tiger & Bunny) and Hideo Kuze (GITS). But you can’t really call them “villains”, they are more of anti-heroes.

Yeah, my taste in characters mostly aligns with villains. I tend to like more over the top characters or characters just there to be fun, and I believe I've seen more villains fit that mold than heroes generally.
I also find characters that are overly flawed to be better than those who are too good in terms of character charm.

Some crazy villains can still be entertaing even without understandable points/motives, Yoshikage Kira is an example.

Fine, I will give you one that is just acceptable, and the other one that I like a lot (I will give my own translations). Basically, that life ceases to be valuable with Sybil System is something that most people miss in the show but him.

「シビュラに惑わされた人々は、目の前の危機を正しく評価できなくなった。その意味では君たちも、あの哀れな羊達と等しく愚かしい」
"The people mislead by the Sybil System, would be unable to estimate any danger in front of their own eyes. In that sense, that you people are nothing else than pitiful sheep is something to be laugh about."

"However, the human beings unable to ask themselves about their own desires who just keep living by trusting the Sybil System, how can their lives be valuable in the end?"

A lot of times I find myself able to identify with the protagonist and the antagonist. The antagonist often has great ideas and is misunderstood or has been through a lot of trauma / bullshit. They aren’t always bad and sometimes you can see how they turned bad. Oftentimes there will be a backstory showing gun how the antagonist became a villain and it is often tragic. A lot of times the villain could easily represent a black person. Someone such as myself even.

Not necessarily absolute freedom (and he does not want to abolish the state or society how did you get to this conclusion?), but the human mind could not develop in a society ruled by the Sybil System. He would have become a literature professor in a normal democracy and wrote anonymous satires against the government. One cannot write books in the state of nature...

If you let an AI (say, a "society" is too vague) decide for you what is important or what is dangerous, you are a failure as a human being. You become a thing.

"Whoever has no character is not a man: he is a thing."

"Quiconque n'a pas de caractère n'est pas un homme : c'est une chose." Chamfort.

He has also an interesting fascination about crime and criminals, which reminds me of Dostoevsky, so he may also have become a popular writer in normal circumstances. And he could only develop this mindset because of the complete lack of morals in this society, which is replaced by numbers (hanzai keisuu) and colors (shikisou). Ancient books are not available online for being judged controversial, just thinking about crimes makes your hanzai keisuu increase; in a word, it is all but an inept way to judge of human beings and their actions.

The only "villain" I can think of that I like is Nakamura Sawa from Aku no Hana. But I'm starting to think that she might be more of a bully than a villain.

ah ok i guess i remember Shogo wrong then but a Sybil System (true AI overlords this time) is one dark future CyberPunk style anyway

Yes I usually prefer them over heroes cause many times heroes are so poorly written.
Although my favorites are still anti-heroes.

Singing crew yes but singing myself not. It is quite taxing on ones vocal cords when you're supposed to hold massive rallies every day.

I usually end up either liking the villain or the antihero. I probably like antiheroes more than villains, but villains can be great too. Evil queens are awesome <3
