I started anime when i was 8 manga at 12 im 29 now and im still finding work's of anime and manga art that I might not have matured enough in the right areas to enjoy yet.

And also age and acting your age are going to continue to mean less as years go on because of the modern world people live a long time, theres over population and so much more. Anyways no its not weird at all and those social barriers that existed in the past around anime are starting to fade. I know a lot of older people just now getting into it that used to think it was weird.

Im not going to lie, it's at least a little weird for someone that old to be into something like anime that's dominated by a teen fanbase

Nah im 25 and watch anime what would be weird about it. The amazing thing about anime is anything can happen they can make up any story they want. Im not a fan of newer movies or shows because they always try to make it seem too real with cgi but you can always point it out. Dont have to worry about that with anime

It's only weird if you want it to sound weird. Hobbies don't require maturity, they are just fitting ways to spend your free time.

Also, take into account that interests may or may not disappear. It's not like they come with an expiration date, so it's more than likely that you are still an anime fan at 25. You won't certainly find yourself in the position you assume here.

Age does not matter and anyone is free to watch Anime at any age with respect to the show's age-suitability rating.

The adult audience can feel free to watch Ecchi, Hentai, and Seinen shows.

lol, that must be fake (how can you spend more than a thousand days watching anime?)

I don't think it is because it will pointless to do so. And he is 90 yrs old so 1.7k days is a small part of his life (not that I get it)

Unless he was living in Japan and being watching anime since the 60s without the need to catch up. Mass binging of anime became the norm after 2000 with the internet for all anyway.

Can be feasible by fast forwarding and skipping many episodes, while for manga it is even easier, eslecially for mediocre and garbage anime. Though I prefer 1 anime at a time at a slow pace for more enjoyment.

Maybe there is some misconception about adulthood applying here.
Most of the time there is no difference between being 17 years old and being 25 years old (or not a big difference.)
The only reason you would not endulge in your hobbies is because you have a job that needs your utmost effort and does not allow much freetime or because you have a family with children. In that case you simply do not have the time to watch anime or similar things. And not because it is wierd, but because it does not contribute towards those goals.
Of course even then you might have the possibility to watch anime, but you might want to do something else with your free time.
Lastly if you have a family you might be able to watch anime with your children (if you are okay with kids shows) or after some time when they grow up. This is one reason why many parents like Nintendo products in gaming because they are able to play them with their children.

Literally nothing will happen. You will be yourself but a little bit older. Maybe one day you'll find anime less appealing, maybe one day you'll pick up a hobby that takes up all of your freetime. Either way, aging doesn't change us. I'll be 25 next year and the only difference between now and me at at 17 is that I experienced 7 years inbetween. Once you're an adult, years don't change drastically anymore. With 17, your years start to become the same.

Don't stop there either.. I'm in my 50's and watch anime.

Seriously tho.. stop watching anime at 25, is OP mental?
Guess I should stop eating cookies & candy too huh?
You're never too old to watch anime.
If I ever stop watching anime, check my pulse I'm likely dead.

I wake up with coffee & anime, I go to sleep with coffee & anime.

Is it weird if people aged 25+ read books?
No, just like books & movies, anime is a medium of entertainment that has substance and things you can learn from.

what you should do is learn to affirm yourself without having to conform yourself to others. You have 8 years to do so, you're gonna succed I'm sure of it.

Oh no, I'm 28 and should forbid any fun whatsoever or maybe dig myself a grave straight away. How dare people have a hobby they like when they are older?! Maybe I should start watching the same tv shows my grandma is watching on TV. Ah, seriously. Nothing is weird if a person likes something and it doesn't harm anyone.

Hehe this post made me laugh outloud
I'm 26 too so we can relate some there at least

I think OP just doesn't have a lot of perspective because they are so young
When I was 17 I probably couldn't have imagined what I'd be like 10 years later either

Soon to be 27 and I feel the same. I guess I lacked the empathy or imagination to imagine adults could also want to have fun. Hell, adults were all the same for me. I never thought or recognised the differences of age cohorts. It was children, teens, adults, seniors. :P

*hits 25* That's it. Fun time is over. Better throw all my anime stuff away and start watching normie stuff.

There are many anime that are not for children and handle deep subjects that I don't really see anywhere in mainstream media.

If anything more adults should watch good anime xD

46 here. I'm more into stuff like LotGH and Cowboy Bebop now than the things I watched in my youth, but it has been a delight to watch My Hero Academia, Cells at Work, High School Fleet, and the like together with my kids.

I guess so if you only watch anime that are aimed for the really young audience, but if you're into more mature themes then not at all.

"I should quit my hobby that I completely enjoy for no other reason than to conform with the expectations of society."

I don't think this is a logical or fulfilling way to live life. Just do what makes you happy, even if it is weird. It's also not like the number of anime fans drops dramatically after 25. Heck, seinen and josei are aimed primarily at 18-30 year olds and expect to have a decent number of fans older than that. Precure considers its targeted demographic to include men up to 35.

Just watching or reading? Nah, anime and manga cover a wide range of demographics and even something targeted at a younger audience can have its appeal.

It's when it starts going beyond watching that it can start getting a little weird.

Not at all, it’s merely another form of entertainment. You shouldn’t have to stop doing something you enjoy just because “you’re too old for it.”

I’m 28 and only started watching anime a few years ago. Do what you enjoy, screw what other people think. If you’re not hurting anyone else then why should anyone care what you do with your free time?

Tbh, I think it’s kinda sad that society has led people to believe that they “should” and “shouldn’t” enjoy certain things, or that some things (like live action shows aimed at adults) are “normal” and some things (like animated shows aimed at adults) are “weird”. Be who you wanna be, people who judge you or think you should only like what they like simply aren’t worth the time.
The criteria I use when rating shows is on my profile.

I'm X, and anybody that is not X should not be enjoying life like me. Typical bigot statement.

When I was 12, I got my first job on a news paper route. I couldn't afford manga or anime. When I was 16, I got my first job at McDonalds flipping burgers. I couldn't afford manga or anime. When I was 17, I joined the military. I'm a 6 year honorably discharged veteran from the Reactor Electrician field of study. At 25, I went to college with my GI Bill. I didn't have a chance to enjoy life until 25+.
