We all like it – whether we want to admit it or not. We watch TV shows where the main appeal is the drama, and we enjoy it when one of our friends gets in some kind of trouble with their girlfriend or coworker or whatever (at least I do). It's just a nice feeling, that schadenfreude. But why do we have this attraction towards this feeling? It is entertaining sure, but there must be some reason why we, as humans, possess this desire to revel in other people's difficulties and daily problems with their peers.

There's probably some kind of scientific reason behind this, but more importantly: do you enjoy drama? And tell me about episodes of drama that you thought were especially juicy. I just like drama, høhø.

Without drama in life, there is no fun. Simple as that.
If life ain't just a joke
Then why are we laughing?

Then why am I dead?

probably darwinism again (well universal darwinism is being studied right now) with all the competition to the point of conflict all for the sake of winning like social power

so watching drama might be an educational thing on how to win lol

Idk, we always needed entertainment. Even if we had nothing we'd still play with sticks and stones. Probably because our brain needs stimulation or something. Just a story to process in our case.

maybe the reason it become entertaining is for us to seek it, like negativity bias evolves on us for the sake of self-preservation and also cooperation or dealing with socializing (besides competition) same is true with gossips

I love some trashy drama. I used to watch Gypsy Sisters and this show was fucking insane.
I also like to watch some juicy drama in person. I once witnessed a mother and a daughter fighting at the organic market. Bought myself some treats and sat there watching. That was amazing.
Damn I want to share one more. One time my uni acquaintance was dating a very shitty dude who was always extra mean to her but she stayed with him for the money. And one day they were fighting as usual and she started making comments about his dick size. He flipped and told her he banged her best friend. The girl fucking lost it. She called her best friend’s parents and her fiancé (they were about to get married) and told them everything. Her best friend’s engagement was ruined, she even had to move to another country because of it. I feel sorry for them both but I’m not gonna lie - the whole situation was hilarious.

Vague thread with no idea in sight what OP means by "drama". Drama can be anything really. It can be the monotonous interactions between characters in a movie, no matter what it is. It can be a word for verbal conflict, or really, anything real life in movies.

So yes, people like drama because it is relatable, and because it is evident everywhere for all humans. Sounds like too big of a reveleation.

Vagueness and ambiguity is how someone get people's attention in Casual Discussion, but you probably already knew that, having been here for 7+ years. That being said, I don't agree with you, and I want to fight you in front of all of these other forumites.

I recall you being one of the first to be interviewed on MAL Interviews. How was MAL back then? Seems like there's a lot of history with over 200 people interviewed over the past five years.

this

power, risk, self importance. anything bigger than peoples boring reality.
it's lots of things, but people take pleasure in things bigger than themselves or the normality they've become accustomed to.

I was reading a bunch of interviews and stumbled across your name at the end (though tbh I didn't read it yet), and given the topic of the thread at hand... Also because some of the interviewees are pretty vocal about who they don't like on this site, so I'm guessing there's some pretty troll stories.

Drama helps develop a sense of identity. Once you develop identity, and stop caring about seeing your identity validated, it gets boring. Besides that yeah it's just fun I guess. Replace identity with whatever word makes more sense. A lot of people get caught up on the validation part because it's the most orgasmic. Slimy trashy drama is good food for that type of person.

I think drama, and the enjoyment of it, is just the result of simply writing a common human experience. It lets us know we’re not alone in our struggles, and yes, it is more entertaining to witness something out of the ordinary to get away from our normal, boring lives. Struggles are exciting, and they keep people on their toes- for good reason, I might add. I definitely wouldn’t want to be caught in the middle of drama, so when I see characters on a screen going through it instead, it makes me feel glad that I’m not them. Same thing with drama in real life.

If anyone has gone to Disney World, you’ve probably seen a mental breakdown or two. I know I have, I’ll never forget the Animal Kingdom Parking Lot Meltdown of ‘16...

Women's idea of drama is pretty meh. Unlike men who work all day, women have lots of free time. They spend their time gossiping like OP or watching drama while eating chocolate on a comfy bed. They find drama wonderful and think that they should try it in real life.

But when they actually try, they end up getting butthurt! Then 4-5 girlfriends need to visit and console her. After crying a river (all of them), they develop a special bond. Like a rainbow after heavy rain. Beautiful. Magnificent.

Everything is good until one of them spilling secrets, liking the same boy, etc and at this point the civil war officially begins. They form coalitions and try to outmanoeuvre each other. Things would get really bad and the peak usually occurs when their period aligned. Finally, they cut their ties and move on. On a rare occasion, one girl would mediate between them and they made up. But that's a facade! Unlike men who are cool, they hold a grudge until the day they die.

Bottom line is that women's righst plus encouraging them to work and focus on their careers is done to save a world from a disaster that would have happened otherwise.

That's right my friend. But being sly foxes they are, they're still able to find some loopholes. For example, women at my old workplace told me they purposedly got pregnant to take advantage of maternity leave. They actually planned to quit the company after some time and be full-time housewives. Why work when their slaves husbands can feed them?
