Would it be a surprise if I mentioned either Chrono Trigger or Chrono Cross? XD
Honestly tho, the Chrono series always had great music. Stuff like Magus's theme need no introduction.

Super Mario RPG has amazing music too, like this gem...

I don't see anything topping Golden Sun for me anytime soon. Amazing OST, considering the limited hardware they had to work on.

Why am I not surprised you necrobumped this? Ain't gonna mention Chrono Cross now since you beat me to it xD

On-topic: The battle theme of Final Fantasy 6 & 9 and "City Ruins" from NieR: Automata. Gets me pumped, especially when 2B fight against foes with her huge-ass sword.

For me there's no better video game music than Octopath Traveler. I always sau that this game is worth playing for the music alone. It's the next level of genius when it comes to OST.

Really gave it some thought on this one. Hell, could've even done a top 40 if been serious.

Definitely +1 on "Silver For Monsters" from The Witcher 3, "Last Surprise" from Persona 5 and "City Ruins" from NieR Automata, although all three have fantastic soundtracks in general in very different ways from one another.

NieR Automata's blend of JRPG vibes with Metal Gear-ish sci fi mixed with all kinds of genres and beautiful haunting vocals.

The Witcher 3's mix of Slavic folk-style vocals and instrumentation and western cinematic music.

Persona 5's very fun and catchy funk, soul and easy/smooth jazz.

I love this version of the boss theme from Final Fantasy VIII remade for Final Fantasy XIV. I have a soft spot for all the music from the PSX era Final Fantasy games. That was the peak of the series. I don't know if the music is necessarily better than modern Final Fantasy games but I played them when I was growing up so there is some nostalgia bias there.

If we're going "epic" and not just good then it has to be Grandma (destruction) from NieR Automata. A crazy operatic, orchestral version of a really memorable song from the original NieR.

If I was going to pick one soundtrack overall it would be NieR Automata. I have a preference for mournful, emotional vocals and (almost?) every song in the game has a vocal version. It mixes a lot of genres with sci fi-ish music in a very interesting way. Also the way that it has multiple versions of every song and shifts between them depending on the mood of the story or whether you are in battle or not.

Dark Souls 1 tbh. I think the Ornstein and Smough track is one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard.

Soundtracks from the developer ''Sen'' are honestly masterpieces.
One of my most favorite game with soundtracks though is the game Misao.
I suggest the soundtracks 100%!!

I don't know about most epic, but I remember certain Disgaea songs for the specific moment they played.

Witcher 3’s music is pretty epic if you ask me. However, a more common description would be “amazing”.

Undertale is pretty epic as well. I think Undertale has the most listened to ost on YouTube, which is quite telling.

Favourite battle music is from Darkest Dungeon. Gets better/scarier as the lights go out.

Suikoden IV and Tactics, but The Ark of Napishtim as well as Wild Arms: Alter Code f come close. Why? well in Suikoden IV's case, the soundtracks sound so Incan and colonial England to me. Tactics has most of the music from Suiko 4, but with some unique battle themes and the Kolook Empire's bgms. That's it for now, I don't got all day.
