There doesn't need to just be one token gay couple; go for what works for your story. Nagato creeps me out, but in general I don't see the problem with having more than one relationship in a show. I know this is from a while ago, but honestly, I don't see why people need to look at pairings as "gay" or "hetero" at this point anyway; just see them as couples.
