Almost every year most developers launched their new gadget product. For example, apple launches iPhone every year. But i think there is not much change.
better performance, more cameras, better camera quality, better design, basically something 'a little' better than before.
With that in mind, do you upgrade every year? or do you have some condition before consider upgrading?

If it's something I use frequently, every few years. Probably around every 3 years on average, if I had to guess.

As long as it it's still working, and is compatible with most applications to date.

So every 4-5 years.

as minimally as possible. the small, newly included features aren’t necessary nor worth the money anyway. just like video gaming in the president trump era.

“if it aint broke don’t fix it.”

when a certain gadget needs to be upgraded regardless of time

Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost."

I upgrade if the thing I'm using is about 4 years old, or more. Usually there has to be some kind of good deal going on, or the item I'm using has issues or is insufficient for what I'm doing.

I upgrade when my gadgets can't be used anymore or beyond fixing... XD Or if it affects the progress of my work.

I rarely upgrade, as my cash flow is pretty low, hell, I'm using a preowned 32 bit Win 7 Ultimate Toshiba Laptop ffs
Summertime days, passing gently
Sunlight, leading to an encounter;
Dreams that don't want to end
Continue onwards toward the next day
While she waits in the air.

Upgrade what?!

I only use my phone for 'Google Maps / Texting / VLC player' (Lol) any potato-phone can do it.

All the best games(PC) of all time are almost 15-20(or more) years old, so again, any potato laptop can run 'em.

Did I miss any other gadgets/electronics that are actually useful?!

When they become unusable.

I'm not a professional photographer or a computer scientist for me to blow so much money on the latest model of whatever.

Usually when technology renders my item obsolete. I had a phone for 5 years and it really was lacking in every single aspect compared to my contemporaries' phones. I usually change PCs every 6 years. I owned around 3 PCs till now. My current one is in grave need of upgrade, even though it's still 4 years old. Technology is a thing to behold.

I'm still using my s4 so rarely. Whenever it finally is beyond use. And that applies to phones, computers, cars, whatever. I paid for them so I max them out.

Personally I just upgrade when something breaks. (Unless we're talking about computer parts. Then I just buy new ones whenever I want them.)

I get a new phone every 3 - 4 years, as long as it keeps getting updates I'm all good. For my laptop, I upgrade whenever necessary or if my current one isn't running at optimal conditions

I had a faithful Creative Zen X-fi2 that must have lasted me around a decade before the off button started failing.

It could still be turned on with the same button; just not off. The setting where it would turn off on itself after a certain time of inactivity also stopped working so I assume there was a deeper problem in the circuitry that prævented the hard off function from being executed.

It is obvious that "obscenity" is not a term capable of exact legal definition; in the practice of the courts, it means "anything that shocks the magistrate".

I refuse to be someone whose suckered in to "upgrading" every year. I'll switch gadgets when the gadget stops working or doesn't do it's job properly anymore.

when they become unusable
I use my phone for ringing, sending messages, and setting alarm on morning
I use my pc for browsing web, watching anime and playing games sometimes (I can't run the newer ones but who cares, there are many good older games)
no need for upgrade

Just upgrade my phone from some shitty entry level phone from 2016, and it's already lagging and freezing, you gotta love Miui.

When they break or become obsolete. I recently upgraded to a 1660 on my computer because 1060 is slowly getting outdated.
