Oh my goodness, dealing with some supernatural creatures with feelings of revenge.

I feel bad for Mana that she often gets caught up into trouble like this.

Power of love is well and good but what happened to the classic social commentary?

Not on the same level as some episodes but it was about the old (Tengu) ways versus the new. Accepting inter-racial (species in this case) relationships and how colonization brings destruction (the villain was from Portugal). The villain was also homeless and not being helped by society.

Some of these may be a stretch. I really enjoyed this one though.

I guess you're right. Social commentary has been a bit subtle in the past few episodes but it's still there.

Okay episode, other than having the villain wear 16th Century clothes when he was supposed to be from the mid-19th Century.

I loved this, Kojirou is great, and his powers are pretty cool, just like you would expect from a Tengu! It was nice to see him again, and he really helped Kitarou back there. It was funny/endearing that Mana encouraged him with the dialogue from the shoujo manga she had just read, making Belial's defeat possible. But I do feel bad for him, if only he had fallen in love with someone else instead of the main human character, it would've worked out. But he's young, and pretty much immortal, he will be able to move on. Oh, and Agnes' magic this time was amazing, putting the village back together like that, wow.

I really enjoyed this episode!!! :)

Sorry but the clothes of the youkai are ok! According to history, Portugueses arrived to Japan at 1543.

I just wanted people to know that the anime as portrayed well the boats, clothes and the youkai aspect. Today when i has watching the episode, and since i saw Belial on the illustration in the middle of the episode, i started to remind of my old books of my school times.

They did an amazing work!!! As a Portuguese i feel happy to see a Portuguese youkai, even if it was a villain!!! ^_^
