| Only two members in the concert was extremely stupid and the two pieces of cardboard was beyond retarded. It probaly would have gone better without those two pieces of cardboard. Mylene never choosing is kinda annoying but watever. The whales were ummmmm. |

| Whales are good. Music is okay. Still, Macross 7 always suffered from weak characterization. Like in here we only learn more about the new side characters. It shouldn't be like this considering that the show has a crapton of episodes, a movie and two OVAs. Definitely could have used more Mylene and Ray too and Basara is just doing whatever again. Regardless of all this, I think it is the best thing that ever came out of Macross 7. |

I think we can't have Macross without a good dose of wtf. The rape coming out of nowhere is because there's side story a manga that goes into more detail about Mylene during the OVA. It's much less out of nowhere in context. Overall it would have been better if the OVA had incorporated the entire manga, or just cut most of it entirely. Just have the scenes where Mylene and Gamlin leave and that's it. Anyways I don't really see Mylene and Basara ever working out, especially given that I can only see Basara continuing to run around space singing, although Fire Bomber has to get back together eventually for the Re.Fire album in 2060 As one of the few western fans who liked Macross 7, I didn't really like this as much, but I think it's a fitting epilogue. I do really like the Final Concert shown in the OP |

| Re-watched: This little OVA might be one of my favorite Macross entries, which I guess seems kind of crazy to say. As someone else said above, a more fitting story for Basara to 'end' this journey with The direction, visuals and the Valkyrie designs were stellar, and I couldn't help but feel something when those damn space whales started singing. I liked the little details, like the radio show that was heard throughout, it really made Zola feel like a real place with real history and folklore. Liza was great too. I guess this is where they tested out the aesthetic, and some ideas, before Zero was made. |

| What I liked about this OVA is its quite rich world (animals in particular, but also culture). Also there's often radio in the backgroung, telling something related to the world of Zola, or referencing the events that're going on. Whales singing was unexpected but I think Basara's song had too many "wow"s in a row. P.S. Got EOE vibes from the planet covered in green P.P.S. I wish Elma recorded a cover album |

| So relieved that my boy Gamlin wasn't done dirty. Seriously Mylene should've picked him all along. Basara ain't got room in his life for anything but his singing anyway. I mean she didn't pick uiltimately but I'm happy I didn't see her pick Basara. As for this OVA I liked elements of it but I don't really think it was worth it overall. Certainly not the story you want at this point with 90% of the characters MIA. |
| The whole cardboard thing with the in-and-out zooming and horizontal pans was actually really clever. Trust the MAL forum folks to take it at face-value and call it 'retarded' lol wow. Taking the piss out of itself with clearly self-parodying absurdist humor reminded me of the sort-of-shitposty pure fun that the early Macross 7 episodes had. |
