Do you think Seiyuus read the source material or manga before acting out the voices at the recording studio ?

They need to get a clear picture of the personality and overall feel of the character they're acting out, so does reading the source or manga version helps them get a better feel of the character they're voicing as ?
I am someone that would like to watch a Harem Anime with 2 male leads that each gets their own harem company of girls from the main cast. For example, 1st male lead gets a company of 4 girls and 2nd male lead gets 2-3 girls etc.

They might, but from what I've know, they don't really need to do so. They know how to act and the producer guy or director or whatever tells them what to act.

Depends on the voice actor I guess. But I think they are encouraged to do so by producers
I know Rie read a little bit of Shana at least

There are some from interviews I've seen that mentioned that they read them, some are fans of the source material they voiced for.

And, is this going to be a 2 main male MC harem thread?

There's no need for them to do something like that.

I remember reading that Daisuke Ono, Jotaro's voice, confirmed that he read at least once every Jojo chapter.

But that's probably because he's a big jojofag.
Not because he thought it would help him get Jotaro's personality better.

That's not their job. If the voice doesn't fit, that's the sound director's fault

Why would they?

They're there for a paycheck, that's it.

Ok, SURE some of them probably do....for SOME of the them it's probably something bigger than a job.

But I'd bet good money that's not the case for the majority.

Well, here you can see the voice actor Uchiyama Kouki getting into his character..
So yeah.... I think it does help.

Considering how many characters a seiyuu may voice, I doubt they bother with most of them.

maybe more likely for the main characters than the sides

Even if we're excluding original anime, I'm pretty sure they are given instruction on how to portray a character, their personality, what are their relationships with others and how they should act towards other characters.
Some may read the source material but I doubt that many do it. It takes some time after all.
I'm watching anime since 2012. I also play games, sometimes.

Don't bother me if you want to 'become friends' or things like that.
It's tiresome. I know you just want to collect some meaningless numbers.
Thought: How many people sparked H. Charlotta just for blue pot?

Only when there are more than one MC, preferable no more than two and they have a harem of their own. To put it more elaborately and into perspective, like in a Harem Anime with 2 male leads that each gets their own harem company of girls from the main cast. For example, 1st male lead gets a company of 4 girls and 2nd male lead gets 2-3 girls etc. They have to read the source material otherwise they won't understand the sh!t they are about to give their voice to.

Depends, sometimes they only got a briefing about the character in general, and sometimes the director ask them to read the whole shit, but that a waste of time for a sheer perfection lol
