I am looking forward to this anime, I like rugby and even know how to pass the ball despite never actually playing it myself but a friend thought me and I even went to watch some of his matches. If it wasn't for the excessively beta Iwashimizu I would've like this episode very much but he became annoying after 3/4 of the episode. Ryuugamono said: No, I don't know the demographic. Could you enlighten me?Also, their ripped bodies with their super tight clothes, and butts more noticable than a baboon's. You know the demographic. Also it seems you never seen a rugby player in real life. My friend did rugby during highschool and he became ripped in like 1/2 years plus his teammates were more ripped than him. They had incredibly hard trainings. Of course the anime kinda exaggerates it but it is not that far from the truth. Similar to hajime no ippo. |

What he is talking is this: BL bait Ippo In All Out!!! they go all the way to emphasize their boobs like they are girls, I doubt your friend ever done that... In Ippo they are just plainly not posing with that intention. I have nothing against BL/Yaoi but teases are another matter or it's either Yaoi or it's Seinen simple as that. If people love bait so much, make it a genre for it... |

If you think that every single male/male interaction is BL tease then maybe you should question your own sexuality. Edit: It's kind of rich that Hajime no Ippo is mentioned. Not even i've seen it and I know that there's a couple of scenes with guys grabbing each others dicks and swinging them around. Maybe @Snaita doesn't want BL bait but rather some recommendations for hard yaoi instead. |

Snaita said: You see the BL bait because you want to see it but personally I don't see it even in that image you posted that has nothing to do with the anime. Ippo's style is too rough to be considered appealing but that's because it has an older style. Nowadays everything has to look prettier not necessarily for the BL bait. Emphasizing the muscles is not only for the girls or gay males but also for showing they have muscles and transmit power. That's why KnB characters seem gigantic despite some have the same height of Haikyuu's characters.zal said: Ryuugamono said: Also, their ripped bodies with their super tight clothes, and butts more noticable than a baboon's. And lets be honest girls would ship them even without elements you would consider bait just like male audience ships male and females characters in other series even though they have no hint of relationship. Muscular men tend to have muscular chests too You don't get what I'm trying to say, it's bait/ tease cause they do it on purpose to emphasize bait poses. I showed you the manga cover image, I didn't show the Ippo manga cover cause it really doesn't show the characters for the sake of showing their bodies. But if you want you have here another image(anime), of number 8 ass, if it's not bait why don't show his front instead of his back... I know this is a topic that it's somewhat subjective, but god it's clearly there, doesn't see it who doesn't want to. The photo that you showed do you see him showing his chest, butt the way a girl would like to see it, obviously no! It's not about older style Ippo Rising or Hakyuu is fairly recent and doesn't have male characters provoking watchers withe their bodies. |

I know, right!? Sekizan's hair is one of the dumbest hairstyles and color combinations I've seen in an Anime. He looks like a fucking idiot with that hairstyle. Too bad, his character seems so cool but the hairstyle totally ruins it for me. Overall, great first impressions, I like both Iwashimizu and Gion. Both are pretty cool. I like Iwashimizu more. I love all the yaoi, gay sex potential this has to offer. Giving the saying "bodies slamming" a whole entire meaning. |

When I first read the description of this anime I thought it was really interesting. You don't see many rugby anime out there. This episode was good. I think I'll enjoy the series (if I decide to continue watching it). The character seem really fun so far. But I'm worried that they are a bit two cliché but, sometimes I like a those character. Still, this was a great 1st episode. |

Holy shit this was gay I absolutely love rugby and played it through HS and College before getting injured. But this was just a series of common tropes strung together with a touch of insane femininity. The characters are all poofs, the insecure manlet, the gay giant, ugh it's like one of those gay rugby leagues that gets caught molesting children regularly. Why would you hit an anime about the bloodiest sport from a gay angle? The mangaka needs to be raped by black guys with aids. |

I don't know much about rugby, but I'm well aware of how intense the games can get so a broken arm is certainly nothing out of the ordinary. Like someone mentioned above, it would have been better if the friend was hospitalized or something. Anyway, enough of that, I'm looking forward to more and hopefully I can learn some cool things about rugby in these 25 episodes. I understand that Rugby is a tough sport--never watched any. It sorta looks like soccer cross American football. My question is, was it that he hurt his friend that messed him up or that he hurt his friend which then caused them to lose the nationals so that he felt responsible for the loss? Cute show though. Like the animation probably hang around for a few more episodes at least to see how things develop. |

I've long waited for a rugby anime which drawing style is not too shabby. The opening is pretty cool. I like both the song and the artwork. Well it's rugby after all. The episode's start felt a little off and the feeling stuck until the tackling session, which was the funny part. I hope the next episode will be better. Despite how the characters were handled during the episode, I'm holding off judgement until I get a better vibe from their progression. It's only the first episode and it's already so annoying to watch. Why can't the newer anime do things right? They always seem to get things wrong. The character motivation behind that chibi is fine, but the way he got into rugby is uhm, kinda easy? They spent like 3 minutes max on that part to get him into the core sports of this entire series. They also try to do a little bit too much on putting emphasis on certain motivational words like "you can be a star in this sports, no matter who you are", there's a lack of subtlety that I'd like from that. Another annoying part is the characters, muscled jacked dudes acting like 12 yo sissy, what gives? It's annoying when the character design doesn't match the personality. It's also fucking annoying that this chibi is out to kill everyone who call him short, which is factual. Where is the repercussion to every action? Don't tell me it's a joke, because it's not funny. Another thing about jokes, is that newer anime tend to play way too much on the jokes, they don't try to tell a joke so that people can laugh, they just throw it out there all the time, making jokes lose their novelty and it does a poor job setting up the tone of the series. It's annoying to see a chibify version of everybody like half the time, then try to make the characters look badass during action time, like dude, don't juggle between two of the opposite sides. The OST was also very out of place, it tried to hype up a moment but later on ended abruptly because of a change of scene, basically the scene transition was done poorly without consideration of the tone of the narrative. I also am not feeling this super bright LED Madhouse shit for this series. Why is the lighting so freakin terrible? I know it's a Madhouse trademark but hawt damn don't make it into a MH tradition like head tilt and Shinbou/Shaft, and abuse it in every anime you make. Who gives a shit about your trademarked traits, we want good animu, not you inserting your own quirks into your anime needlessly. I hope it gets better later on in the series but I am not too optimistic about this series. |

As much as this seems to be melodramatic and problematic in its simplicity, characterizing characters very quickly as one note, I will give it the benefit of the doubt and not be too harsh. I did enjoy this episode for what it was. Gion stomping through the hall and slamming the book clubs door open made me laugh really hard. To criticize the humor as being too simplistic, relying on the one or two defining character traits of the cast like Gion being small and angry, or Tree Trunk being tall and cowardly, or Sekizan being big and scary, it would be somewhat hypocritical because I adored seeing Gion get put in his place by the quiet but scary Sekizan. Him forcing Gion to be polite to seniors was hysterical. I hope Gion develops to be more well behaved because of it. Gion reminds me of Noya from Haikyuu. Small, hot headed, determined, but if that was all Noya was. He was hinted to have some personal struggles due to being small, but it still connects directly to him being short instead of giving him some more characteristics. Likewise, Tree Trunk reminds me of Asahi from Haikyuu, the cowardly, sweet hearted giant that feels blame for making his team lose and doesn't play despite how much he loves the sport. I bet he'll go through a very similar character development to Asahi as well. The melodrama of scenes like the 'tackle me' scene made me feel slightly uncomfortable, although I suppose it's due course for cheesy sports anime to have melodrama. I love Haikyuu despite it being there constantly. I enjoyed it, although it had some red flags that make me scared for the future. I'll watch it and stay hopeful. I do agree with some of you that these overly buff dudes who are always blushing is a little suspicious LOL. Not that I'm complaining. ;) |
