The other day I was sitting around and saw a picture poking fun at women who wear make up. It basically said along the lines that they want a man who is honest, yet they hide their true looks behind a mask called makeup. It got me thinking about how some women are really skilled with makeup, and how some look drastically different when they don't wear any. That brings me to my question, do you approve of makeup? Do you think women should wear makeup as a means to make themselves look and seem more appealing to others while men typically can't wear makeup, or wont?

Yeah they should if they want. Should men not gel their hair or shave or whatever? Or is that fake too? People shouldn't be shamed for wanting to look nice and if make up is the only way they can achieve that then let them cake it up. Wherever you heard that from sounds like some grade A feminist bullshit.

I think women should be allowed to wear makeup. The media really pushes the idea that a woman should be beautiful and flawless, it's only natural that women would try to follow up with that expectation. I don't care if someone chooses to wear makeup or not, whatever makes them feel comfortable. I personally don't wear makeup, but I know my friends wear makeup to make them feel better about themselves, not for men to gawk at, and certainly not to fool them.

You can never have too little makeup but you can definitely have too much. Go ahead ladies, use makeup, just use it sparingly and don't go overboard with it to the point where you look like a clown.

There is nothing wrong with makeup, and people who claim otherwise are retarded. Makeup should ideally be used to accentuate and compliment your natural features, and at the same time hide imperfections. There are obviously girls who overdo it and cake their faces with so many layers of makeup that they become unrecognizable--too much of anything is rarely a good thing--but generally speaking, there is nothing wrong about wanting to look good, and it's certainly not dishonest. Should men stop using hair products and grooming themselves, too? I get the idea that these negative mindsets belong to butthurt men or these dumbass new age feminists who think that dying their armpit hair cyan is "fighting the powah/patriarchy."

The thing is if someone is wearing such a large amount of makeup to the point of it making them look really different, it should be quite easy to realise that they'd look pretty different without it. If you're that stupid to think that's how they 'naturally look' you deserve to be fooled.

lol the kind of guys who say shit like that are also usually the ones who see a picture of someone in natural makeup and think they aren't wearing any at all (and then proclaim it as their ideal, "makeupless" look). Their ideal is unrealistic, they are just too stupid to realize it. Natural makeup often take more product than something more obvious anyway. Basically what I'm trying to say is like no one actually prefers girls without makeup and if it makes someone feel better and be happier then shut the fuck up about it.

It doesn't matter if males approve of or disapprove of makeup. Females will continue to wear it regardless because it's not like we only wear it to gain male approval. Quite a few females wear it because they like the way it makes them look, and their main reason for wearing it is to make themselves feel happy. As for my personal makeup preferences, I prefer a light amount. I like to wear liquid eyeliner on my upper lash line, a light layer of eyeshadow on the corner of my lower lash line, a bit of powder on my nose, and either chapstick or clear lip gloss on my lips. I personally don't like the way lipstick or nail polish looks, in fact I really hate those cosmetics, and I'm not a very big fan of blush either.

So I used to look down on girls that wore make up or got extensions or anything like that for not being naturally attractive (blame my mother for drilling that one into my head) But now that I'm older I've realized women wear make-up a lot of the times for themselves just because that's how they want to look that day. It's not even to appeal to men half the time. So now I believe women can do what they want, it's not hurting anybody. If you don't know what your girlfriend looks like without makeup on though that's weird. I still hate the lash thing though. Why glue hair to your eyes that's the strangest trend. But like I said it doesn't harm me any.

It depends how much they use. Some makeup can make a girl look a lot prettier while too much makeup is always a bad thing. zombie_pegasus said: I think the anime girl rule could work: if a girl uses makeup to make her skin more smooth (foundation or cover up) or to make her eyes look bigger (eyeliner and mascara), then it's fine. Lip stick/lip gloss and eyeshadow usually look like shit in anime and they only work well on a few girls in real life.

Approve of make up? Who the hell needs someone's approval to put on make up? Do you call your friends every morning before you eat breakfast to make sure it's okay? You must think pretty highly of yourself if you think someone needs your approval to do what they like with their own bodies. People need to realise they aren't as important as they might think they are.

Nothing wrong with makeup. Girls usually wear makeup for themselves. It gives them confidence and amplifies their attractive features, I approve. When I notice someone with makeup It makes me think that they care about how they present themselves and they take care of themselves in a way.

As weird as it may seem, even if girls know that guys don't find their makeup attractive it can still make them feel better. Female psychology is pretty weird. There are girls who wear certain clothes that make them "feel pretty" only when their boyfriend isn't around because he doesn't like those clothes. Some girls will wear makeup to actually be more attractive, but this isn't always the reason. I bet this whole concept is very different for lesbians.

Well thats certainly true about peoples reactions making you feel good i mean. I usually slob around but feel nice when I dress up. Feels like people are nicer to you and they see you more. When you just throw on a hoodie your invisible but people really see you when you dress better they approach you and talk to you on level. Makes you feel good. This makes me want to be better presented when in public. I used to never take care of my image ( like now ) but I felt so much better when I did. |

I never understood why some women feel they absolutely need makeup. I think a lot of women look pretty naturally. If it makes you feel good, then by all means do it, but you shouldn't feel ashamed about your natural face, regardless.

People who say they prefer the "natural" look don't realize that what they're into is still a caked up face. If you're completely bare, people will think you're sick or lacking sleep. "Natural look" http://www.studios4u.co.uk/Slide-Make/large/Beauty-Makeover--76.jpg No makeup http://imagesmtv-a.akamaihd.net/uri/mgid:file:http:shared:mtv.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/marc-jacobs-no-makeup-jessica-stam.jpg?quality=0.85&format=jpg&width=480 Again, like what Usagi said, most females don't even wear it to get guys. It's just something that gives you better presentation daily. I still don't find the need to wear makeup but I do my eyebrows if I go out since it makes the entire look more neater.

Shaheen- said: And they feel happy because it makes things easier with males -- or females if they're lesbian. Come on, it doesn't take much to get into the 'reasons'. There are plenty of different reasons why makeup can make someone feel happy. Being more successful with males can certainly be one reason, but there are plenty of other reasons that have nothing to do with males. Some like to use makeup as a form of art, some like to seek approval from their fellow females, some like to hide blemishes that may not even be noticeable simply because they become obsessive about said blemish, some like to enhance their better physical features so that they will notice the things they don't like about themselves less, etc. Self-satisfaction is a thing. |

As a guy, I don't have anything against it. To keep this reply simple though, I'll just say this: I prefer a girl who uses makeup to accentuate the features of her face instead of using it to remodel her face. (In my opinion, makeup shouldn't be used to hide who you are, but to do the exact opposite)

Well, makeup is totally okay. However, what is too much harms you, right? In my opinion, women shouldn't wear as much makeup as they do now (not all do it, but still) and also I can't look how 12-13 year old girls cover their faces with kilograms of foundation, mascara and lipstick. You can't forbid that, of course and that's sad. It also depends if a woman knows how to apply makeup. If she is skilled in it then it's fine, but when she goes out like a clown which would appear in children's nightmares - unacceptable. I like it when a girl shows her true nature and applies makeup occasionally (I'm like that). Makeup can be really convenient though. A concealer helps to hide under eye circles and powder helps to cover redness (yes, I just revealed you, guys, the secret why our faces can look so smooth and nice). But what I wanted to say - If a girl applies makeup occasionally or she does not overuse it - it's k, but if it's too much - not k.
