| Do you mean as individuals or do you mean the difference between Japanese and Chinese and Koreans? If you mean individuals it's because they are not around a lot of asians so they are not used to picking up subtle differences in appearance. The same applies to every other ethnicity out there if they all have the same'ish skin, hair and eye colour. |

| I am sure Asians are just as diverse as any other race, we just have the tendency to view all other races outside of our own as the same. I admit to being guilty of this. Going by facial features alone, I cannot tell the differen Asian ethnicities apart, but I can distinguish between them by language, names, and culture (fashion, beliefs, lifestyle, etc.) |

| Maybe if you live among a specific group of asians your whole life the subtle characteristics of that group becomes well imprinted in your mind, so when you see another asian the difference in subtle characteristics is easily noticeable. Non-asians that have spent their lives away from asians are not aware of these subtle characteristics so just cannot or struggle to differentiate. |

| The real question is : Why do Asians have small eyes? My former boss had a cute theory about this : She thought that it's because they had a hard time at the toilet, after eating so much rice. | This doesn't only apply to East Asians though.. But since this is what it's about, then the only situation I can give is that of K-Pop Idol groups. Whenever I watch a music video of a large group (like SNSD/Girl's Generation for example), I can NEVER tell them all apart except maybe for 1 or 2 people but only if they standout noticeably from the rest. Like one has rounder eyes or a larger forehead or different colored/length hair or something, by then I can pick them out sometimes... maybe. But it's basically the same thing... if a person isn't familiar with a group of people and if they're of the same nationality (Asian, American, or whatever else) or something, then they'll obviously look the same at first. |

Most people have a problem to tell them apart. There is one Kpop band that I've been listening for at least 5 years and I still don't know who is who. Not to mention other bands that I listen to rarer. And I never have such problem with Japanese or Chinese bands. I know about plastic surgery being really popular and common in South Korea but I'm pretty sure not all of them undergo it... if so, all of them would look exactly alike. xD I have read articles on those who had surgery though but they aren't so extensive as to change large amounts (like their entire face for example) to look exactly like each other. They still have their differences though it's not visible to everyone esp. those who aren't Korean because of what I meant that they all look the same due to our unfamiliarity with how they look~ It's like when I first found out about GOT7 (since you're familiar with K-Pop, I wanted to say Big Bang but they all have notably diff. styles to identify each member so they don't exactly count I guess xD), they all obviously look different now that I'm familiar with them after seeing their music videos often but at first they all had the same faces to me. |

I have seen so many black, white, middle eastern, hispanic, islander, and people of any other race look almost exactly like some people of their same race. | It's not just Asian people. Everyone looks the same. White people, black, people, mexicans, whatever. People are mostly identified by their hair and skin color, and for the most part each race share these dominant features within themselves. White people get it said about them less because we tend to have more variety in our hair color, but if you line up two blondes, two brunettes, and two redheads they're going to look fairly similar to each other. |

| I'm Asian and when I first started seeing Kpop I actually had a hard time telling the individuals apart. But good question, why don't people say all black people look alike? The universal buzz cut really doesn't help differentiate a good deal of them. |
