Hello fellow participants :)
I have came here to ask kindly of you to recommend me a manga/mahua, etc which is already completed and I can find full scanlations for it for the following challenge: Read a manga with children as the main cast

Also for this challenge, if possible I want a series on a shorter lenght.
Read a manga recommended to you by another Manga Reading Challenge participant

And this little bonus challenge : Read a manga based on real event or person
Please don't say Mercenary Pierre, I'm already reading that for another challenge. :D

Thank you all in advance!

Children: Ikoku Meiro no Croisée @tsuyokunaru - this counts right?

Recommended by participant: Shigurui

Real Person: Innocent isn't fully translated yet, but probably will be before the year is out. This is obviously an alternative

@AudioTsunami @Potter_Arrthur Well, this one says that it's on hiatus, so it doesn't seem to be completed. I'm not sure if teenagers can be seen as children. I wouldn't be against someone using it though. Something like Gakuen Alice or Bokurano would work, too but they're longer.

As for real person Sayonara Sorcier could work as well.

for manhua or manhwa I recommend Annarasumanara or Ares
for adventure, supernatural or fantasy try Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

Each manga can be used once within the challenge.
So, just wondering but does this apply to series or is every entry in the database considered a separate manga?
Basically, can I use 8 Umineko titles for 8 different categories? (I know, I know, not very imaginative.)

Yes, it works that way for the Anime challenge as well. I used Major for like 9 categories.

@lequack I'll check out the mangwha's but I can't read nausica on my phone. The details are just too small and I refuse to get a physical copy.

@sooru I'll peak around at the stuff you gave me.

@Annuvin it's a good way to motivate yourself to tackle a long/big franchise so I actually don't think it's a bad idea at all.

Hey, quick question: How would I know what a webmanga or a 4-koma is just by looking at it in the general manga search, as opposed to going to an individual manga's page and looking there? (The latter is more time consuming and inconvenient...)

» Read a manga recommended to you by another
Manga Reading Challenge participant

10-15 volumes would be nice.

» Read a manga that another user has read for this
challenge

Feel free to recommend the best stuff you've read so far (in this challenge).

I know this sounds rather baffling, but does re-reading a manga (the ones I've read 2-3 years ago) count as a new one for the challenge?
Basically a lazy way to kill two birds with one stone...

@Skyz_
You're allowed to re-read stuff for the challenge but the point of the challenge itself is to introduce you to new stuff. So take that for what it's worth. (also there is a re-read category of the challenge).

» Read a manga that another user has read for this
challenge

So far I've read Zero, Innocent(not fully translated yet but should be soon), Jojo part 1(reading part 2 right now and it's better than part 1, Goshiki no Fune, Giganto Makhia, and Virgin na Kankei. None were bad, mostly average. Innocent and Zero were both p good.

» Read a manga recommended to you by another
Manga Reading Challenge participant

Bambino!(15 vol), Bokurano(11 vol), Kokou no Hito(17 vol but worth the extra 2 vol), Ran to Haiiro no Sekai(7 vol)

Edit: It's both ongoing and only 7 volumes currently but Amanchu! is excellent and it's by the same girl that did Aria and Aqua which you read, so that might be something that you'd be interested in.

I have a question: does spin-off/sequel counts for different challenges?
In other words if i read a manga that satisfy the requirements of a challenge and its sequel/spin-off satisfy the requirements of another challenge, can i put them both in? Thanks

P.S: Also can someone recommend me a manga for the challenge, anything is fine. Also less than 100 pages. Thanks

@The_Misanthrope Yes. Different DB entries of a franchise can count towards different challenges. This can be sequels or spin offs.

You ask for a rec, but do you mean a one shot with less than 100 pages or a manga with less than 100 chapters?

Just a warning, it's not really a romance and certainly not a traditional one. I think it is mistagged. It's real real good tho.

I was wondering...
About the " Read a manga that has a main character that is a professional in his field" challenge, exactly what kind of professions should be considered valid? I mean, what if the protagonist is a "magical law executor"? Of course there's no such thing in the real world, but in the universe of that manga the MC would be considered a professional with his own business.

I'm asking this because the examples provided in the form are all actually existing professions like teacher, scientist and artist, but there's this manga about a "magical law executor" that I really want to read for this challenge, since I've already planned out almost all of the others :D

I think it can be considered valid, unless he is a student of course.
Usually an expert is a person with a lot of experience and/or some kind license.
To be sure, it's better if you ask to the one who made up the challenge.

The MC has his own business and office, and the co-protagonist is his assistant. They deal with magic/demon/spirit-related issues. I think it's similar to Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro, but maybe not exactly the same thing.
The point is: is "magical law executor" (or "magic lawyer", or whatever they call him) considered a valid profession even if it's not existing in the real world? :P

@Kella it counts as long as he makes money or receives some kind of payment which makes him a professional in the field. It doesn't matter if the profession doesn't exist outside of the manga.

i still have problems with some challenges hence i'm looking forward to your recommendations :)
» Read a manga that started serialization the year you joined MAL:
» Read a manga that focuses on non-romantic relationships:
» Read a manga with children as the main cast:
» Read a manga that is tagged with a genre you dislike:
i don't rly have a genre i dislike... depending on the (ability of) the mangaka/author i could like/hate every manga but i won't judge the genre itself.
the only possibilities i can think of would be certain combinations of genre (like school+magic <- i usually don't read manga with these genre since most of them just copy each other (seemingly) but even in this case there are exceptions like mahouka..) or genre that are listed in DB but which i wouldn't count as genre (like shounen, dementia,..)
» Read a manga with an archetype as a main character:
» Read a manga that has been adapted to live action:
i'd like to use Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso for this challenge but the live action movie will air in september.. does it have to have an (aired) adaption when i start/finish the challenge or when i submit the turn-in form?
» Read a manga from the recently reviewed list:
similar question: could i simply choose a recently reviewed manga (, include the permalink to the review) and submit my participation in december?
» Read a manga series you can finish in one day:
any limit to the length?
» Read a manga recommended to you by another Manga Reading Challenge participant:
just to be sure: if i get more recommendations than i need for the asked challenges, could i use one of the other suggestions for this challenge or do i have to specifically ask for this challenge?

I'm lacking motivation to catch up on manga I barely started at the end of last year, if I restart them from chapter 1 can they count towards the challenge?

I was only about one volume into both mob psycho 100 and nanatsu no taizai and forgot what was happening in them really, so restarting them might give me more incentive.

@Simar the live-action must have aired before you can declare the challenge completed (with the turn-in form) otherwise it won't count towards the item.

As for the web novel, I think it can count as a light novel (and it was published as one) so sure, you can read that.
