But there are anime that does the same thing for the female audience as well, so it does go both ways however it might just be a bigger male demographic that watches anime so the industry just goes that way. |

| Its actually always been like that: People tend to assume that women are a bit harder to please and aren't supposed to express sexuality (somewhere back in the 1800s horniness in women was considered to be a disease which doctors had to cure by literally fingering them and calling it a medical procedure). Even though there's none of that bullshit these days, a lot of women tend to be very closed off about their sexuality. But I think that's changing pretty quick. Anyways, I don't think you've noticed it but a lot of shounen shows have a bit of manservice in them, it's just that there aren't many shows that completely focus on manservice like we have for males.. |
| as an artist with other artistic friends i can tell you that men (including me) LOVE to draw idealized girls/women not only from a sexual point of view, but womens bodies are generally more interesting to draw and being from a country where sexual content is open, well most anime is made by straight men, so yea theyre gonna want their girls to be as attractive as possible to please themselves and other straight men and most straight men probably don't want to draw or see a guys ass or crotch or w/e just look on an anime picture site.... 80% of artwork is of female characters but im glad to see girls/women thirsting over anime guys.... idk, more straight women should make anime, thing is less guys will watch those shows look at how many guys hate twighlight and free..... well i wonder why.... lol however, it is true that anime tends to be more popular when it appeals to both sexes, but thats just cause it obviously increases the number of viewers |

| To put it out there If you want anime that are targeted at males but doesn't have fanservice Seinen are either tame with fanservice or there's none at all. Kaiji Ultimate Survivor, One Punch Man, ERASED, Baccano, Black Lagoon, Gungrave, Hellsing Ultimate has no fanservice as far as I remember. Berserk has some nudity but it's not for fanservice reasons. If you want to see some hot dudes watch Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, only manservice here Or, some shounen. Hunter X Hunter 2011, Kekkai Sensen, InuYasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Black Butler, or pretty much any sports show in existance. dunno which of these you may have watched but really though I hope this helps. They're all great shows without having to shove boobs and ass in your face while still catering to male audiences. |

| Shounen is the most common anime demographic; shoujo is the most common manga demographic. There are also anime like Precure which are meant to appeal to both girls and men. Shugo Chara! has Ikuto. He even has his own fanpage with 1600 members http://myanimelist.net/clubs.php?cid=1655. There are also anime like HxH and Kuroko no Basket which are made for young boys but have hot guys which appeal to young women. |

| For statistics sake, none of the 580 shoujo anime are tagged as ecchi. If you don't want things targeted to boys then watch anime targeted to girls. | OT: The market was believed to be compiled of mostly males. The industry has started to slowly shift towards making more shows pandering to the female demographic in the past few years. There will be a growth of fujoshi pandering shows. |
