So i read this short story in class and it basically means that humans will one day destroy themselves and no one is going to give a fuck. Not the trees, not the birds, not the dogs and kitties, and definitely not the martians.
What do you think?

Better how?
The world will just continue on like it's always been. Humans wouldn't cause any more artificial pollution any more, so that would be a bonus for nature, but other than that, I think the world would just revert to how it was before humans evolved into what they are today.

Much better. I read somewhere that if everyone on earth were to suddenly die, the planet can still recover over time from all the shit we've done to it.

Pretty much this, have a look at Chernobyl nowadays and you'll see anture reclaiming its lost land.

What would be the point? Eventually some other species would evolve into something like us and then they'd start whinging about how awful they are and how much better the world would be without them and the process would repeat itself until the universe dies.

Actually, no.
We may have done a lot of shitty stuff affecting other organisms, but we also help them too.

I agree that some species or specific organisms benefit from us being here, but overall I think we do a lot more harm than good.

We are too selfish to give the animals a chance. And we justify that by claiming it is they that are disgusting and lesser beings.

Humans truly are the worst species of all.

Yes, humans were a mistake.
I love Christine

"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness." - Henry David Thoreau

Animals benefit a lot from the presence of humans.
Take cats and dogs for example, but it branches off more than just caring for pets.
On the other hand we have polluted and destroyed a lot of land and I think we're feeling the consequences right now.

We are the World. Without humans this world would be a waste. Nature and the Animals don't matter unless they're supporting superior beings like us.

We've created a downward spiral of extinction.

Animals kill to eat and survive but they regulate themselves. Humans have improved too much and use animals and their homes for practically everything. The rate that we're killing off bees with use of pesticide due to poor farming is a real threat, and we'll see that when a significant portion of our food isn't pollinated by them.

Domestic cats and dogs wouldn't exist in the first place if we hadn't tamed and bred them. I do agree with us being a benefit to other animals/life forms to some extent, but I think we're more of a burden than a blessing to other species tbh.

I think the problem with pollution and habitat destruction is that we didn't really put too much thought into the future consequences, but I think humanity is going to have to learn to be a bit more careful with how we treat the planet in the future. Otherwise there really are going to be some serious consequences if we don't take a step back and look at what we're doing.

And yeah, animal conversation is another issue which needs some serious attention. Unfortunately, I think all of us are blinded by human conceit to some extent that we don't really understand just how important animals are for our own survival. I think a lot of us tend to take them for granted.

we humans are like pest of the earth but there is no assurance that the earth will never nurture/evolve a new intelligent land stupid at the same time life form like us, science says intelligent beings like us are unavoidable to be made by nature since evolution baby

I dunno about that. The earth does have a time-limit after all, I'm not entirely certain anything else would evolve to the point of having another industrial revolution before the sun fucks the planet.

You would first have to define what you mean by "better", because that term comes from a human perspective.

Considering we've only been in industrialization for around 300 or so years and we've already done so much ecological damage to this planet, this planet would be much better without us. Thankfully, when we eventually die off, the Earth will heal itself, and the only thing that will be left is some plastic bags and some Styrofoam. Who knows, maybe after we're gone the planet will somehow incorporate plastic into new ecosystems. I like to think that sometime after humans die off, a species of Gazelle will evolve into eating plastic and garbage, and then maybe they'll gain consciousness, and they'll start to wonder what this garbage and plastic is.

Hypothetical questions are boring. What gives that had it not been human that evolved, dinosaurs taken over and would have done less harmful things to the Earth? That would be a waste of the nature, the resources, there would be no nothing (since nothingness is a human concept).
And if a higher being than human were the ones that roamed the Earth, not we, would they stay still in this confined corner of the universe or would they expand? Then there would be a question would the universe be better off without x/y/z.

'Pollution' just means humans are dumping stuff they don't need. Every animal does that. When snakes shed their skin, they're polluting the environment with their dead skin cells. We just do it on a larger scale, and 'nature' hasn't caught up with it.

I actually think our existence is a good thing. All living things on this planet work together to survive and evolve. The "damage" we do to the world hardly means anything. We are the next step in evolution on this planet. We are imperfect. We make mistakes and cause harm to the planet. But it is okay since the planet offers more than enough for us to have another chance. To experiment, to waste resources. If we fail. We die, and nature just reverts back to the way it always has been before us. But if we succeed, we will be responsible for adding more meaning and diversity to life. What is the point of life on this planet if we don't continue to improve ourselves? This planet will only fester and stagnate without intelligent life to advance life beyond the boundaries it has always been contained in for hundreds of millions of years.. We are the first intelligent animals. We are the first to use technology. We are the first to leave this planet into space and survive. This is such an important step in the evolution of life on this planet. We don't destroy the world. We are a tiny dot on the tree of life, and no matter what we do to the planet as of now, life will continue with or without us. We aren't against nature. We are part of nature, and all of the other living things on this planet work together. With us. So we can survive and grow. To advance technology and the evolution of all life on Earth.
