An Israeli soldier tried to detain a minor during clashes in the West Bank village of Nabi Saleh on Friday, but a number of Palestinian women and children managed to stop him.
According to the army, the 12 year old boy was throwing stones at the troops, protesting the presence of settlers.

Well if he (or the people who put him up to it) had the genius idea to throw stones at armed soldiers he can estimate himself lucky that he didn't get shot.

And the group of women assaulting the soldier really had a lot of chance that the soldier managed to not panic and start shooting to defend himself.

Such badasses.
Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel my leg... and my arm... even my fingers. The body I've lost... the comrades I've lost... won't stop hurting... It's like they're all still there. You feel it, too, don't you? I'm gonna make them give back our past."

If there were soldiers that demolished you and your friends' homes, and made your life a living hell, you'd want to at least throw rocks at them too.

he is a soldier in an active war zone and someone threw something at him. the kid is lucky the guy looked to make sure it wasn't just a kid throwing rocks before returning fire. lucky he didn't, especially when he was mobbed ad injured by the kid's friends.

also, what did they even "protect" him from? he was going to be detained, not killed.

Do you know how long Palestinians get detained sometimes? A lot longer than an Israeli for the same crime. And the IDF have killed many innocent Palestinian people over the years.

1. i doubt that they would hold a civilian minor for all that long, get a some sources for that

2. that is quite the assumption, considering you don't even know the guy and that he didnt open fire after being mobbed.

I shouldn't have to show any additional "Proof." If you read outside the mainstream media, you would know exactly what I'm talking about.

The Israeli government and army are terrorists, and anyone who would ever support them are evil.

Not joining sides on the original debate here, just thought I would chime in to say:

1. Burden of proof is on the one making a claim. If you want to make a claim, make sure to back it up. Saying "That is common knowledge" just invites the question "Then why can't you take 2 seconds to bring up proof?"

2. Discrediting one's argument, or their questioning of your argument, through insults towards their character is an ad hominen. A fallacy. You can call him whatever you would like, and whether it is true or not, it doesn't make your original claim any more "right", or his original claim any more "wrong".

Put yourself in the shoes of a kid living in a war-torn country. Even the slightest move against your oppressor becomes an act of great valor.

He's a kid. Don't expect a kid who grew up in a warn torn country with death at every corner and time of day care about death.

I imagine kids growing up in a war torn country would do a lot to avoid death knowing it's at every corner.

Agreed. It is pretty arrogant to believe that "because they grew up surrounded by death", they don't care whether they live or die. Most humans, regardless of their circumstances, don't want to die. Thinking otherwise could lead to some rather nasty results.

The kid was crying like a little bitch when the Israeli got him. We can make the assumption that he had some desire to live (assuming he was throwing the stones). What are you trying to prove here?

I was just replying with this statement of yours

It depends on the kids perception and understanding of his surrounding. You can't always assume that "All kids will run away after being pointed with gun." They got used to it. Call it naivety but they think nothing else but to throw something against this "bad persons".

That is a retarded analogy. In that instance, please explain to me, who are the authorities that have every right (and will) arrest the abusive husband(i.e. Israel). Last time I checked, even the US who thinks of themselves as the world's police, won't pick up the 911 call of a child throwing stones at soldiers, and instantly come to his rescue. Neither will the UN. Who is the supposed police in this scenario? (Also, technically, by returning violence, it is possible that he would be convicted too if you were trying to apply domestic abuse to this. After all, regardless of his reasoning, he struck out at the "abusive husband", and it clearly wasn't in self-defense.)

Also, this analogy implies that the the kid (abused wife) is justified in striking back at the Isreali soldiers (husband). In other words you are justifying a crime. Whether or not the wife is a victim of abuse, striking back turns her from a victim to a criminal. Plain and simple.

This was a bad analogy, sorry.

Uh no, that's a shitty comparison. I know you hate Israel and all but don't let your bias get in the way of common sense.

It's incredibly dumb for a young kid like him to risk his life provoking an armed Israeli soldier. If he has a score to settle with Israelis, he should join whatever political faction there is and spread his discontent.

Your assumption that there is always a 'police' in such cases is even worse. Well, we are looking at it from different angles. Because there's no such thing as 'domestic violence' in Pakistan's Constitution, so everything is up to the wife and her supporters to solve.

Whether I'm justifying the kid's actions or not, that's a different matter. But your saying, that the kid shouldn't have attacked because it's nonsensical to do in pretext of no 'impunity', is a little off when put in a 'realistic' view.

A lot when they decide to actually do something intelligent instead of throw rocks. A voice can change millions. This skirmish won't change anything, it will only bring more anger on both sides. It would be unwise for Palestinians to resort to violence when Israel is currently being condemned for violence. This would only make both sides look ridiculous.

It would be unwise for Palestinians to resort to violence when Israel is currently being condemned for violence. This would only make both sides look ridiculous.

When you look back at my post, you'll see that I, pretty much, asked the same thing except worded differently: How do the Palestinians raise their voice?

You might want to get more information about the Palestinians.

Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!''

Think whatever you want.

It's obvious how you hide your hate for all Muslims behind the words you say. I don't know why you compare a kids way of thinking should be similar to how you think they should.

If you think it's wiser to stand at a corner because a gun is pointed at you then go ahead. You were raised that way and will die that way.

Longer video of the clashes:

I'm highlighting this because the month of August has been quite tensed with clashes all over Israel and the West-bank. It's like a mini intifada.

So far this month we had:
one Molotov cocktail attack in East Jerusalem (one woman was severely injured), a lone wolf trying to run over Israel soldiers at a checkpoint, 4 stabbing incidents perpetrated by lone wolves (mostly against soldiers except for one), one axe attack (against soldiers), a pipe bomb thrown at a checkpoint (one soldier severely injured) and a group of young Palestinian men throwing rocks on a car (Jewish man his 22 months old daughter lightly injured).

---------------------------

On Topic: I side with those that are saying "Kid is lucky he didn't get killed". Listen, what Israel does is awful, sure, however knowing that they are awful, wouldn't that be all the more reason to NOT do something stupid like throw stones at an armed soldier?

there been mnay a bloody sunday in Palestine in the last 60 years with not ourtcry when so calledvblood sunday happned in ulster the uk army fied on stone thoers in a pro IRA match there was outcry i the us

You can be sympathetic all you want, but you'd better add some sense to that sympathy or you may very well condone the stupid actions that got him into trouble in the first place.

Sure you hate Israel and all, but for the sake of the child, you'd better tell him to wise up, or get his parents & leaders to do so.
