The last episode was alright. Overall they went with a tame SoL route, instead of the seemingly Michael Bay-esque "Run-away-and-get-shot-and-die-together-like-Romeo-and-Juliette" that it appears some of the posters were actually hoping for.

Personally I was expecting this route. If they really wanted the "Everything goes to shit" route, then they probably would have made the story setting way more dystopian than it was portrayed here. This show is exclusively about the feels, not the action, afterall.

The ending was done well, with it being shown that Tsukasa letting go of Isla and moving on with his life. And as for the debate whether the new partner was a memory-flushed Isla or not, seriously why debate anyway? They purposly showed just the hand because they wanted viewers to interpret it as they wished. It's just like the ending of Inception. You choose to believe what you hoped would happen, and from that you will get the ending that you will be happy with.

Personally I'd expect it to be a new "Non Isla" Giftia, since, as they showed with Eru's "long-lost" friend, even if the Giftia are recycled, they won't be working in the same department as their old colleagues.

But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

Sad ending, I had hoped for some kind of twist, then I remembered that this is anime I am watching not some American cartoon that would always end up with a happy twist ending, so they kept it real and we got the true end. And in a way that's what makes anime so great and why watching "western" animation is usually such an inferior experience. 8/10.

I've no idea how some of u cried in the ending...
I felt extremely bored when watching this ep.
Compared to its middle and beginning, I find this anime ending is not well done. :/

Honestly that was done with class. It was a great finale.

Just because they didn't show the face of the new Giftia doesn't mean it is Isla's body with a new personality. There is no reason to show a new character. The message was that he is taking the next steps in his life just like Isla would want him to do.

Was it implied Isla and Tsukasa had sex in the shower?

No and does that even effing matter? What is implied from the scene is they are enjoying their time together.

Well, the inevitably depressing finale was certainly delivered in a solid fashion, with everything inevitably coming to an end at the amusement park. It was a depressing end to a series that, despite not doing everything I expected it to, was still a very good series, one of the better shows of this Spring season IMO. I can't say that I feel the need for a second season, but if that explored the sci-fi side of things more I'd be all for it.

this series was misleading. initially I thought huge action but turned out to be tearjerking android expected end.

I skipped a bit on the end on the "replay". 7/10 because I like isla and tsukasa (characters).
story plain.

That felt like a pretty fitting ending, not too sad which is great since you shouldn't drill in old times, but instead look forward. I wonder if that was a recycled Isla which Tsusaka was introduced at the end... I don't think so, as i would expect him to show some emotional facial but you never know :3

It was a great series, with all the right emotions at the right time. Its rare to see such clear romance not being interrupted by awkward comedic inputs, but I feel like Plastic Memories really did a great job differentiating those things. From start to finish, Tsukasa and Isla went through a lot, really trying to connect to viewer with their emotions, and they did a fairly good job on that.

The animation has been consistent all the way through, and the art style while being somewhat generic has also seen some things which has felt unique.

Its a clear 9/10 for me.

This series started off on a high note for me but tapered out and went down hill.
I wish they explored the concept of giftias more rather than putting in so many SOL romcom moments.

At least the finale picked up a bit and the second half of this episode was quite nice.
Though in the end, I still wasn't taken by Isla and Tsukasa's romance...couldn't really see how the two fell in love.

This was recommended to me by a friend who recommended it based on the first 3 episodes and didn't complete it yet and I wish I asked around before starting it, I thought it'll be like the first 5 without the romance but that didn't happen. Anyway it was funny at times I guess and a reminder to never take a recommendation by said friend until they finish the anime.

The ost this episode was 10/10 though.

I think i had higher expectations from this series but it was good nonetheless.

Nice final episode, the feels were definitely there and i think everything was finished pretty well. Really liked the ferris wheel scene.

Not sure whether i want his new partner to be Isla or not but it is fine like this.

I just want to say who the f**k design these faulty robots.... they can do all these stuff but memory protection.... Do future don't even have backup or data transfer technology? This company should be out of business even before the start of the series...

I am pretty sure this f**king company will make this "I hope one day, you'll be reunited with the person you cherish" be a very EXPENSIVE option. So it is basically holding customers' children, lovers, partners... for ransom. I would not want a product like this...

Honestly, 9 years is a remarkable life time. Take your xbox which dies after about 5 years, make it 1000x more complex and intricate and then give it motor skills. I'll give it about a week.

[Characters] = 7/10 They were ok didn't blow anything away they at least focused quite a bit on side-characters.
[Story] = 6/10 The story was ok , nothing amazing. Typical stereotypes. Nothing extremely bad either. The drama was a bit unnecessary even though I love drama usually.
[Art and Animation] = 7/10 It was a mix between good and sub-par.
[Sound] = 7.5/10 Quite a good soundtrack I liked most of it and it fit well.

[Overall] = 7/10 Quite good for me , I expected more to be honest. I feel like the show tried to hard to implement too many genre's in too little time. I feel it should have either full out focused on the romance and character development or gone fully with the Giftia's and focused on the retrieval process.

Meh conclusion to an Anime that had potential but squandered it. Sigh, it could've been SO good if it focused more on the Giftia exchange aspect instead of the typical SoL feels romance bs. 3/10.

I guess there was never a point to hope for some miracle to happen but the way both Isla and Tsukasa delt with Isla's retrieval was in itself, very hopeful.

The last episode was the best, 9/10, I liked the production for a change and the fact that they minimalized the background music helped a lot. I never went close to shedding a tear though.

The show overall has huge holes and low points but if you lower your expectations a bit it is enjoyable and pretty. I commend the lighting and the coloring as they were great. 7/10.

But I still think that if they made it double cours and delved into the setting seriously this would have made a much, much better experience.

Well the ending it seems a bit obvious who has new partner was going to be but i guess it will never be shown.
Maybe in an OVA or something like that if it will happen.

This anime started really interesting. But switched to a romance.
Did he ever make a new manual?
Did he get his fathers approval?
Did he retake the entrance exam to get back into school?

Also, if my friend dies, I dont want to be around a person using their body.
Its not the same person; too weird.

Not really. What else is there to add to the story. Tsukasa has a new partner at the end and then what? Isla and Tsukasa relation is what made me watch this to the end. The way it end was good enough already, anything more would be reaching. Maybe perhaps an OVA in the future but I doubt it would follow Tsukasa aftermath.
ughh!! I know, but I'm so tired of these short amines that leave me in the dark of the rest of the characters' lives! ;(

Nah, I don't think Plastic Memories needs a second season. Maybe an OVA would be nice, but if they do decide to make a second season, I hope they'd focus on the Giftias (how they were made, why they were made, why they only have a 9-year lifespan etc...), the 9 months that Tsukasa spent out of Terminal Service or how the Terminal Service 1 was before Tsukasa came.

Well, that's just my opinion, though :p

It was stated many time that Giftia used by the terminal service department were reused. So yes it is Isla's body but it isn't Isla. Isla is dead, it is a new personality in her old body.
