| I like cosmetics, and I don't think that it's deceitful if it's used within reason. Ideally it should be used to compliment and accentuate good features of the face, but if you decide to paint your face so that it looks like you're wearing a mask then it just comes across as cheap and ugly. |

| Sometimes. My friend and I sometimes go browsing photos of celebrities. We look at the females and compare them to their pictures without makeup. At times, we are blown away by how different they look. Some of them still look and others are like "eh?". I guess it can be deceitful at times. I probably wouldn't date a gal who wore a bunch of makeup like a clown. I kind of want her to be true to her nature. Some makeup is fine, but if she is applying a bucket of powder to her face, then I'm good on finding someone else. Plus, that shit is expensive, and I do not want her digging into my wallet. |

Although, to be honest, it would be a lot better if makeup wasn't used at all. I don't find it healthy that we make people get used to makeup as the norm. The OP example is an example where your skin is fucked after a long time. Also, I believe women that say they're not doing it for the social interactions are lying to themselves. Being a social being is inherent to human beings, while it does give you confidence, it gives you confidence BECAUSE you know it'll make people notice you and see you in a better light. |

I think the misconception people are referring to is the idea that women wear makeup for the sole purpose of attracting men. It's about feeling better about themselves, not appealing to the opposite gender (in some cases, not all, obviously). But yes, social interactions is probably the wrong word to use if they're trying to disprove that idea because it's too broad. |

| When I was younger I would dislike it believing the wake up next to girl myth. But now that I'm in university I've accepted it to be the norm. I disagree with people saying that they can bear it if only used in moderation lol. Imo it seems girls who look caked just don't know how to use make up properly. 95% of girls I know look very different without make-up and when they do have make-up on it's barely noticeable. It's just that when they don't wear it their eyes look a bit sick in comparison to when it's emphasized (and their skin tone is different etc. but you get my point). Sure from one perspective the person looks different without make-up and in a sense you could feel deceived lol. But some girls when you're dating them wear make-up so that you can feel proud of having a hot girlfriend (that's how she put it anyways) haha. I don't think make-up changes things much. After all if they got a shit personality then you're going to leave them anyways. And if it's for a one night stand then does it even matter lol? |
