| I've been watching a Lot of Gintama lately (it's my favorite :3) and there's a Lot of references to Dragon Ball (Z?). So! here's the big question, do you have to watch all 153 eps of Dragon Ball to make it to Z? Or am I an idiot for even begging the question? | Dragonball Z is a direct sequel to Dragonball. But you can honestly watch Z without being confused. I recommend reading the manga over both. |

| No, not at all. Dragon Ball and DBZ may share some characters, but they have little in common. DB is more of an adventure series, whereas DBZ is just a generic battle anime. |

| Dragonball Z is awesome! Some of the fillers made the characters lovable and you got attached to them. I know Dragonball Kai is no fillers but is it still good like the old Dragonball Z with tons of long fighting scenes or what? |

| It is a direct sequel, but DBZ is fine even by itself and you will definitely not be confused. So you can choose whether or not you want to watch DB, I guess it's just a matter of whether or not you want to put in the time. |

| I actually didn't mind Dragon ball it was pretty interesting, you should watch it because watching Z/kai because there are quite a few people Goku meets and without watching it you may not know who they are. |

Tell that to Cartoon Network. Yeah, that's why I had the question of "is Dragon Ball necessary?" But I'm getting a lot of mixed messages form a lot of people saying that kai is best and disregard the other two altogether or DragonBall is an absolute must. Basically I want a taste and I'm not sure if I could handle it all one possible two if i get into it. Tell me what is your favorite Dragonball and I'll watch that. I got DragonBall from Milk_Is_Special.
