Thats what you consider junk and what you consider good but obviously everyones taste is different. If it sell well means it found a good amount of people that like it. And if it doesn't do well meaning there isn't enough people that like it period. Think twilight its god aweful to lot of people lot of people loved it or else they won't have made all the fcking movies. Thats not being lucky thats call being able to find an audience. Ya they don't explode when if people say bad about about it once, they do when the same people repeat the same thing over and over and over again. To be honest the whole thread is basically Group A call it generic and boring and harem Group B defend it saying it takes time to build up and gets better later one. And should have ended basically there 2 point of view but Group A basically keep coming back and say the same thing over and over again. Yes the first ep of the Anime wasn't that great, I didn't think it was that good either. But you can't exactly say the rest will be bad either, speically when we kept bring up the point it takes time to build up. But hey they can totally fuck it up too but at this point and time it can go both ways and constantly coming here and saying it won't well isn't really helping anything. |

All you guys have to do is wait it out until the anime proves it's not an incest/harem. Seriously, from that first episode, the incest vibe was way too high (there's no denying that), but I'd say the harem accusation is a little unnecessary. Only one episode aired. IMO the way you guys should view it, if someone else doesn't want to/refuses to watch the show after you support your claim as to why they should, it's THEIR loss and THEIR choice and THEIR opinion. Yeah, but it still doesn't mean that it is good. The most successfull movie to date is stolen from every film about native americans ever and just happened to look awesome. Twillight (which I actually read. Yeah, all of it -_-) is written so simple and melodramatic it hurts. I don't mind people liking them. I myself really like a lot horrible harem shows, Symphogear and Transformers, yet I could never claim that they're actually good. Ya they don't explode when if people say bad about about it once, they do when the same people repeat the same thing over and over and over again. Then again, some shining knights went way overboard responding to people who were merely stating that they disliked the first episode. This works both ways. Anyway, I think I have reached some understanding with you, so I will bow out of this thread at this point. Have a nice day^^ |

If a viewer/reader drops a series after one episode because they read some first thoughts/impressions written by a guy they don't know on MAL, they seriously lack dedication (lacking a better term). All Madhouse has to do is adapt it as best as they can and see how it turns out. If the anime turns out fucking awesome, great, the people who were originally skeptical of it will probably give it another go. |

As a person who read all LNs and actually like the series I can only say: This fanatism is pissing me off. This kids don't even have arguments. Actually the arguments against this show are better than the ones the "royal guard" is presenting. I just don't get why this has 41 pages of flame. The series "might" be good, but then its not that great either. So many plotholes in my opinion. |

It may be one sided but the fact that they might end up together because of some family crap with "we better make tats happy or else he'll betray us" - as seen in volume 8 - is serious shit. why ? tats is OP. No its not, you read it yourself, the noval being repeative so far that Miyuki doesn't seek a physical relation ship with Tatsuya. There some fan service but thats where they stand on it. And vol 8 kinda tell everyone pretty clearly why Miyuki act the way she does. Also they don't end up together to keep Tatsuya happy, he being Miyuki bodyguard for a long time(decision made by his mother). They said that Miyuki has to become the head of the family to keep Tatsuya from betraying them, nothing about keeping him happy but using Miyuki to exploit him. |

They said that Miyuki has to become the head of the family to keep Tatsuya from betraying them, nothing about keeping him happy but using Miyuki to exploit him. What if everything they said is a lie ? At the end of volume 11 you see very well written : End of year one. Read the following at your own risk: So we have 1/3 of the series written down. A lot can happen. They might as well end up together. Maya says she has a plan, but then you don't know what the plan is, so it can turn out in any way. She just said its a plan to keep him away from betraying the Yosuba. Thats a fact. They mgiht as well end up together. And from the way she acts around him you can conclude she would happily sleep with him and let him do whatever he wants. She even said in volume 8 or so that she would live for his sake. Well read the following at your own risk. It's where she says what she feels about her "oniii-saaaamaaaa <333" Actually I wouldn't advise reading it if you are an anime-only viewer. But this quote pretty much clears up every single misunderstanding in my opinion. "Just how does Miyuki feel about Tatsuya-san?" At Shizuku's question without any covering or roundabout approach, without any explanation or reason of intent, "I love him." Miyuki answered in a single word with absolute calm. "...Is that, as a man?" Rather, the one who seemed upset was Shizuku. She keeping her cool was probably just another aspect of her personality. "No." Miyuki's answer came without the slightest hesitation. Her expression was serene. "I love and respect Onii-sama more than anyone. But, that's not as a woman. These feelings I have for my brother are not romantic love. There could never be such a love between him and I." Meeting Shizuku's gaze, "I'm curious to know, why would you ask such a question of me?" She gave a sly grin. "It's fine. I have no intention to interfere with Honoka whatsoever. ...Just so you know, I will feel really jealous though? So rest assured, although I guess that's going to be difficult." As Miyuki gave a light laugh, Shizuku's expression seemed to be nearing tears. "...Why." "Why what?" "Why...do you try to detach yourself like that? I mean, when it's so evident that you love Tatsuya-san so much." Miyuki took a step towards Shizuku. Shizuku visibly stiffened, but, she didn't flinch. Miyuki walked past her in that way, until they were back to back. "...It's difficult to explain the relationship between us siblings to someone else. There are too many speculations intertwined. But the feelings I have towards Onii-sama are not so simple as that." "...Are you really siblings?" As Shizuku turned around, "You've asked a pretty well worn question." Miyuki answered with her back still turned. "...I'm sorry." "No, I'm not blaming you or anything." Shaking her head, Miyuki's smile was carefree. "Very well... since you have a friend who really is trying her hardest." "I... also think of you as my friend." "I know. Which is why you're so conflicted right? You're doing your best not to hurt either of us." At Miyuki's gentle gaze, Shizuku abashedly looked away. "As I was saying... Onii-sama and I are true siblings. Or at least that's what it says on the records, and DNA tests have always confirmed that relation." "But..." "I know what you want to say." As Shizuku stammered, Miyuki nodded understandingly. "These feelings I have for Onii-sama, even I know it transcends the realm of normal sibling bonds." Shizuku fell silent in embarrassment. "You know... in truth, I died three years ago." "Huh?" In light of this confession, not even she could suppress her voice. "Or maybe it's better to say I should have died? But at that time, I truly could feel my life fading from my body, so I suppose 'I really did die' isn't that inaccurate either." As Miyuki spoke her smile was so fleeting, and the line 'I really did die' delivered with such conviction that Shizuku couldn't help but feel a shiver run down her spine. "It's because of Onii-sama that I can stand before you like this. Being able to cry, to laugh, to speak with you right here and now, is all thanks to him. I owe my life to him, and all I have and all I am belong to him alone." "That's..." The question 'what does that mean?' remained unspoken, and no answer to it came. "The feelings I have for Onii-sama are not romantic love." The answer she gave instead referred to the second question 'as a man?', and the conviction in her voice was no less than before. "Romantic love, means you want something from that person doesn't it?" Even if she could have conversely asked Miyuki 'isn't love wanting that person to be yours?', Shizuku didn't reply. She believed it wasn't suitable, and besides, "But, there is nothing I want from Onii-sama. Because I have already received me myself from him." She instinctively understood Miyuki wasn't searching for an answer. "I don't desire anything more from him. I won't even ask him to accept my feelings. In the end... I guess, love is the only word I could use to describe it." "...I got it." At Miyuki's confession, Shizuku could do nothing but raise the white flag. "Miyuki, you really are the real deal." "I think it's a somewhat warped way of looking at things myself." As Shizuku just shook her head, Miyuki closed one eye and gave a mischievous smile. |

Welp, to be honest I don't have much to say about that first episode. The whole 'onii-sama' bsnss was near unbearable and I dislike the male lead's attitude (even though he's competent... and easy on the eyes) but other than that no major complaints. I guess the info dump was needed in order to introduce the mechanics of the universe so it's fine by me. Nice OST so far, even though I think Taku did a better job on Noragami (at least when I compare both shows' first episodes), but we have yet to hear the rest of the soundtrack so I'll put my first impression on hold for now. Fine animation, as expected from studio Madhouse : fight scenes look great and so do the different magic devices/effects. Not particularly impressed, but I'm gonna stick around to see how things go. |

nah, I'm very interested in the episode itself. If I weren't high, and lazy to boot, I'd be happy to debate the "incest" or "harem" contentions... (there's a lot of misinformation in this thread).... I love the LNs.... but seriously, arguing over the internet is too pointless to even bother with. I'll watch the episode, enjoy it, and then come to the forum to watch the hatred fly :D |

He can use use magic but not as proficiently as others (the reasons are pretty heavy spoilers). The course 2 students lack in practical skills i.e. activation or casting time, interference power etc. They should explain it within the anime or in the shorts so you could check them out. They cut out some explanations there.........i will just leave them in a spoiler. Both of them were using a simple combination of motion and acceleration spells. As a result of their simplicity, not just Miyuki, but even Tatsuya who could only enroll as a Course 2 student, was able to maintain a persistent invocation. In such a situation, it couldn't be said which magic -- the one employed by Miyuki who was wearing rollerblades, or the one employed by Tatsuya who was running with his own legs -- was of a higher difficulty level. At one look, with the rollers to reduce the burden of motion, it seemed like it was more effortless for Miyuki, but, without using her own feet, it meant that she had to control her motion vector completely with magic. On the other hand, for Tatsuya, he could determine the direction of his movement with his running legs. Tatsuya who had to continuously reactivate his spell at every single step, and Miyuki who could not release her control on her spell, even an instant. The training each of them was imposing on themselves were of completely different natures. |

Its like every single shittiest cliche of generic shounen anime stuck together with the most generic character designs and the most bland premise possible. I honestly can't fathom even a single redeeming element of this trainwreck. Dropped 1/10 YEah, as I said somewhere else: - Episode 1 was filled with every single most annoying harem anime cliche - The cast consists of generic harem stereotype submissive females including a tomboy, a socialite and a shy childhood friend(who just happens to also be his sister), all of whom fawn over the gary stu lead while providing every single sexist trope possible. - the lead male is bland guy with douchy hairstyle and unreasonable powers that everyone fawns over - Its set in freaking highschool of magic. How much more generic can this get? All they now need to do is overdo falling down sakura petal sin every single scene. - The character designs are infuriatingly generic. Finally Witch Craft Works is outdone in the most bland character designs area, which was kind of incredibly hard to achieve. - Every single shounen genre trope possible so far - I fully expect silly fighting tournaments, bishonen villains and the male lead having to save his incesty sister from being helpless at the hands of an overpowered bishonen barelly-male villain. Bonus points if someone sprouts angel wings or grabs someone's boobs. First ep literally reminded me of Clannad, Witch Craft Works, Hagure Yuusha no Estetica, Gundam Seed Destiny AND Aquarian evoL, ALL AT ONCE and doing that takes an impossible level of talent at screwing up. Feelings about the show while watching the first episode jumped in between feeling uncomfortable, bored and infuriated at stupidity. The first episode did absolutely nothing out of ordinary nor anything that would hook me(even unbearable trainwrecks like Estetica had SOME kind of a hook to stay for second episode before giving up). And that's generally NOT a good sign for a show. Its the ultimate mishmash of the most generic otaku-bait parts of anime industry. All it needs is bunch of lolis. |

Watching a full episode most likely would turn people suicidal. All it needs is bunch of lolis. did you see tatsuya and his nuke at the beginning ? that was pretty cool. I never thought they would add volume 8 stuff in the first episode. |

And I like the world the whole concept of magic as science. I'll watch a couple of more chapters for sure and see how it evolves. Anyone else notice that in the map, the East EU is to the west of the West EU? LOL. http://i.imgur.com/bMWZAA9.png Such fail. |

I'm especially excited to see that the hand to hand combat scene flowed really well. When the hand to hand combat is animated in such a manner, it's a good sign that we will get many good action scenes in this anime. The spell casting animation isn't falling behind and should blend in really well by the looks of it. Hopefully (´^ω^`). I haven't read the light novel so I am sorry if the following annoys the people who are knowledgeable with the story, but I am very confused as to why Tatsuya was running behind Miyuki using magic when they were going to the temple. I mean, I thought he was trying so very hard to hide his powers. I guess what Tatsuya was using was just modern technology of some sort and had nothing to do with the abilities he is trying to hide? C'mon ep2... COME ON!!! *Just found out now that there have been "info dumps"... Going to watch now to see if I can be enlightened. Tatsuya wasn't trying to hide that he can use magic. If he told the guys who did the exam that he was bad at normal exams and then showed them decomposition and regrowth he would have enrolled as course 1. Pretty sure of it. He's hiding the magic he can use and that fact that he can use flash cast as well. Well he can't exactly use any of those considering decomposition is consider a military secret and flash cast is a family secret. Using either would expose himself to be targeted by a lot of people which is why he isn't allowed to use them. @Fai Come back when anime is than, watch the whole thing than say that if you still feel this way. Trying to assume what an entire series be like based off the first ep is dumb, its the first ep. |

I like when he grabs his sister, and the tea kettle starts boiling, like she came. Was really good symbolism. |

The idea of magic as a scientific technology was what drew me into trying this anime out. But that was probably one of the most generic first episodes I've seen...feels like they're trying too hard to keep the viewer base's attention. The incestuous undertones actually made me groan out loud and stop watching for a bit. I pushed through anyways to see if it would redeem itself by the end... The action sequences were good. Nice animation with the magic. Supposedly the main guy isn't that bad of a character, but I found him boring. Pretty much a borderline Gary-Stu (think Kirito). The little sister doesn't seem to be anything but...well, a prop. Hope she actually /does/ something later on in the series instead of just appearing for the sake of "OMG I'M SO MOE" moments. The rest of the cast was forgettable. Erika and Leon are pretty cool though. |

I have to say the hype for this anime seems pretty strong ..over 40 pages which is filled with discussion for just one small topic O.o (incest that is ),the funny thing is that nobody is actually discussing the anime itself.... I read the first volume of the anime and I liked it a lot and I can say that this anime will be very enjoyable . Now ,I certainly don't approve of incest in real life (it's just disgusting and doesn't set right with my morals) and I hate how it's used in some anime (mainly the hentai/ecchi ones ) but I can tolerate it a bit if it's done well . From what I read so far ,Miyuki definitely has romantic feelings for her brother but unlike so many people,I don't think that she's annoying at all but i can see why some people would think so . I can say though that Tatsuya is definitely not your average MC in a light novel/harem show .He's a character that gets lots of development and he's not weak compare to other MC's . Loved the Erika and Leo secene |
