I mean I'm not sure why anyone would invest 17 episodes into a show THEY DON'T TAKE SERIOUSLY unless it had something that compensated for its major weakness in this case the said weakness being an inability to be taken seriously by those watching. My reason is its art style. What's your reason? The action? Couldn't be. The characters then? Probably not.
Maybe because one doesn't have to take a show seriously to enjoy it? Why does one have to have a "reason"? Maybe people watch it because they find it entertaining? And one can find it entertaining without having a reason. Indeed entertainment is often at the expense of reason.

So if you ever say this show is awesome I can assume you don't mean the story? Since you don't seriously, I mean. Jolly good. I assume that when the show is over you'll probably forget all about it? Since you don't take it seriously, I mean. Hmm. An interesting journey into the mind of a Kill la Kill fan.
Let's assume what you wrote is true. Enjoyment is a "now" thing, not a "future" thing. There are plenty of things that I have enjoyed at the time, but probably would not enjoy if I were to watch it today. Entertainment and Enjoyment do not have to be eternal, as long as they provide merely a transient sense of enjoyment that is good enough.

One question, did you find Attack on Titan to be a good anime? I felt that show sucked ass but still watched it to the end just to see if it could save itself. It recovered a bit with the Female Titan Arc but those inappropriately placed flashbacks, man - they were.a bother. (Kinda like how Mako is becoming a bother)
Just to respond to you. No, I did not like AoT, and yes, I thought it sucked. But so what? My tastes differ from other people, I don't assume just because other people have different tastes that they are somehow inferior because they do have such a taste.
Aesthetics are not eternal, but are dependent on the times. Each generation has its own anthem, something that appeals to them specifically because it was important to them at that time and space. KlK is an homage to Japanese shows from the 80's, so of course it would resound to people from that time, at the same time, since tastes did change, there hasn't been a show like KlK since the 80's, so for the succeeding generations it has a sense of novelty. Kids rebel against their parents, but their Kids also rebel, which means they become more similar to their grandparents.
Arara, yet another guy who likes "Kill la Kill" but is level-headed about it.
Makes trolling difficult, ya see (I'm being sarcastic here. I'm not trolling. But because a lot of people have their 'This Show is The Best - Let's Ignore It's Flaws' goggles on any criticism aimed at the show would seem like trolling).
Well as someone who's watched countless ecchi and enjoyed them without taking them seriously, I know. I was just throwing dude's argument back in his face which was that I should just drop "Kill la Kill" since I don't enjoy it.
I was just trying to show that people watch a show for numerous reasons and that in the grand scheme of things, his reason for watching "Kill la Kill" was kind of similar to my reason for watching it i.e. not necessarily because the story was amazing.
Despite the not very well written story (IMO) I'm seeing this baby through to the end because it is just a joy to watch. I love the character design, colours, music and voice acting.
I have no defense for trying to use AoT to mock him though. Or remorse. That show was pretty awful ("Kill la Kill" has the same pacing issues but is infinitely better...how weird it is that I say this show has pacing issues when it goes at break-neck speed...content-issues then).
