I have to agree. I was almost turned off when I thought that RahXephon would completely ruin itself with religious symbolism like NGE but it didn't. |

I have a question; Did Ayako reinvented the world, matching Haruko and Itsuki, and also himself and -a newly invented- Reika? That was it? Reboot, reorganize and ready to go...? Drama and romance, with symbolism spreaded all around, and voilà? It's rather disappointing. |

I got this site from another post here on the forum, it helped me to understand better what the hell happened in the end. Overall good show. |

This series wasn't bad, but it really lacked an emotional punch. There were a lot of scenes where they could have really driven the emotions and the situation home to the viewer, but stopped short; which is really a shame. So basically, he found his "lost" memories and the world changed into one in which he never forgot about Haruko, correct? If you remember back in the middle of the series, Ayato shot at Levy, almost killed her, and she went nuts on him about to destroy each other. Ayato then went back in time and changed everything as if it never happened. As I understand it, he did the same thing on a global scale at the end... right? The only thing in this series I never really understood is what the hell the mulians were. Are they the humans with blue blood, or are they those extra-dimensional beings with the masks over their heads? They can't both be the same thing can they? |

The anime series shouldn't be the seen as the typical drama mecha series like Gundam. Look at the big canvas the anime is painted on. It's a musical composition with subtle scenes and does not pander to the audience for sympathy or any other emotion that anime entertainment currently is today. Due to its approach, it alienates many of its viewers. Check out the site, gbrandelero suggested if you want further clarification on what happened in the end. |

Although it is not original, it has an interesting concept (cough Evangelion cough), but it tried too hard to be profound and symbolic. The plot was very confusing and the pace felt strange. I think one of the biggest problems is that it focused on too many characters making it hard to give them all enough screentime or to understand each and everyone's purpose. Overall it was good enough and entertaining, and the soundtrack is one of this series highlights. This last episode was good (the last 4 or 5 episodes were all very well done) but somehow it all feels a little empty. The ending was still satisfying for me though. Amazing how they killed one character after another >_< a lot of gunshots were fired at people xD |

Well I must say this is one of the better series I have seen. It saddens me that so many people though "This is just an Eva rip-off" at this anime. Wasn't one of the things that made Eva so good was that it revolutionized the way mecha series could be told? Rahxephon just took this formula that Eva set up and rolled it into it's own story, and it paid off. I felt the series was amazing, it was very confusing in the beginning, but the answers slowly came together. The creators didn't through all of the explanations at the viewer in one episode, rather they give hints throughout out the series and let the viewer figure things out for themselves. Always nice to see an anime that requires you to actually think about what is going on in the series. And the ending was over all satisfying(Especially since it had the potential to be some a depressing ending). Overall the series gets a high 9/10 from me. |

Well it still left me with quite a few questions in the end, but they were answered by reading around the net just like NGE :) The whole plot overall had too many holes in it and the pacing was just weird at times and had a handful of characters which pretty much created a harem for Ayato -_-" which was a bit of a turn off point for me other than that the characters were great and very well developed, but it fails at explaining the plot in detail and in the end leaves us confused. BUT the series itself held its own and was a great run i was probably disappointed by the whole Evangelion feeling/plot in this, but this should be great for people who haven't watched Evangelion yet... Oh and the OST is just beautiful! I expect nothing less from Yoko Kanno! Weird how Ayato's hair turned from gray to black <--reverse?? lol XD I pretty much reviewed the whole show here >_>... Overall it gets a 8/10 from me. |

I feel like I have a handle on the story but that link really helped, many thanks. This is my second time to watch this series (I probably watched it about 5 or so years ago) and I feel like I understand and appreciate it more. It imitates Eva (not an insult, just a statement of fact) but nevertheless stands on its own considerable merits. A really great series that I'm glad to own. |

That site really did clear up a few questions I still had. Overall I guess I really started to enjoy the series from around ep 20 or so when things started to come together, rather than the beginning where different plots and ideas were thrown out there. Its been a while since I've seen Evangelion though I do remember being slightly confused but I can say that I enjoyed this series, even with the little storytelling quirks. Its told a bit different from the standard method but its also refreshing in that regard, but heck, thats why we love or hate NGE right, its different There are a few little things that I'm still confused about though; 1) which world was Ayato's mom referring to when she said she created it for Ayato, 2) what was up with the D's/B's classifications, I know they explained D's but what exactly are B's and are there other ranks, and 3) considering how the Mu world had tons of psychological control of its people, why was Asahina dating Momoru instead of Ayato, especially since his memory had been partially erased. Asahina mentioned how she didnt have a memory of parents of anything so I figured she was just another pawn meant to "guide" Ayato. The list goes on but I'm already writing too much |

1) Maya was referring to Tokyo Jupiter. This is speculation, but the instrumentalist must be 18 years old when they meet Ixtli and achieve Yolteotl. The Jupiter barrier was created to both protect Ayato and to ensure he aged slowly enough to be this age at the same time as Quon reached it so they could perform the tuning. 2) The classifications refer to their capabilities as an instrumentalist. They never really explain, but we see two Bs in the show, one is Ayato's twin though I don't think they were "born" at the same time and the other Bahbem used as a new body. I'd guess Bs are very close to having the requirements to be a true instrumentalist (Itsuki thought he might be able to pilot the Rahxephon, Ixtli wouldn't allow it though.) and that Ayato would be considered an A. 3) I don't think there's anything too significant there. Asahina simply liked the more outgoing Momoru more. It could also have something to do with Ayato subconsciously already loving someone else and not opening up to her. Also, it's possible that Maya and the Mu wouldn't have wanted Ayato involved with her and the mind control was responsible for this. I can't really say though because Asahina was the character that I least understood in the show. She was human when the show started, but was becoming a Mulian through episodes 18 & 19. This had started before Ayato showed back up. I would have thought they would have prepared her more for that rather than making her think she was human and letting her freak out. |

Agreed about Asahina. I felt like she was mishandled in the show. The way she and Ayato were thrown together, it felt so contrived. That he would just forget about everyone else and only want to protect Asahina struck me as ridiculous, as well as callous. That's really one of the only criticisms I have for the show. |

Can somebody explain to me again, why this series should be the the "better" version of NGE? Because that's what I've been constantly told and this is pretty much the reason I watched this show in the first place. In my opinion it's as convoluted, if not even more convoluted than Evangelion. And I really wished that Raxhefoion (insert the name of the show here) took the setting and the basic ideas of Evangelion and turned it into something different or better but...maybe I just didn't get it, but the massages it conveyed were the same as in EVA, right?! (recreation of the world and stuff...) And even if this show was something completly different then EVA, there were like billions of plotholes all over the place (or at least things that made no sense to me) Seriously, towards the ending of the show, I had no idea what the hell was going on...why won't these damn producers, writers and so forth just tell their damn story strraightforward. Why do series like these have to be such a mess! ohh...whatever...I've got enough problems with understanding EVA, no time for another convoluted series like this. |

Why do series like these have to be such a mess! ohh...whatever...I've got enough problems with understanding EVA, no time for another convoluted series like this. "billions of plotholes"? I don't think so. Preety much (almost) everything makes sense, but you'll probably have to watch a 2nd time to get it, like i did (yeah i know you probably have many other animes to watch, etc.).The last 4 eps answered most of the questions that the show set up for us viewers. To be honest NGE has a good amount of plotholes as well (there are many things that doesn't make sense in NGE, but that doesn't stop NGE from being awesome) , so plotholes shouldn't be an excuse for you for not liking Rah. But it's normal you didn't "get it" WTF is going on since RahXephon is far from being straightfoward (they only give you the pieces, you'll have to piece them together, its hard i know, but believe me, it does make sense; plus NGE isn't straightfoward either and you liked it so...). IMO, if Rah was straightforward, I probably wouldn't like it as much as i like now. I like Rah more, cause the story is more coherent, Ayato humiliates whiny Shinji and we have an ending that answers most of the questions left behind ( NGE's end... WTF was that?! That ending just gave us the middle-finger and said fuck it. IMO your phrase describes NGE's end perfectly ~> "Seriously, towards the ending of the show, I had no idea what the hell was going on...why won't these damn producers, writers and so forth just tell their damn story strraightforward. Why do series like these have to be such a mess!" ). And the messages both shows carries aren't exactly the same, even if they do have some similarities. Rah's message is more focused on the romance while NGE's message is more focused on the psychological aspect of the human nature. Obs: I am not a NGE hater, in fact i like NGE a lot (except Shinji and the ending) and I am rewatching it to understand it better and I reccomend you to do the same with Rah. But i still prefer Rah. Srry 4 the english errors, it is not my homeland language. |

Tempo_plus, could you tell us some of the problems/questions/plotholes that stick out to you? Maybe we could answer some of them, because as the previous poster said, Rah is difficult and demands that you pay attention to even little things. Also the link that gbrandelero posted is a good resource of information. |

....where to start? Ok, first of all something off topic: This doesn't concern just Animeguigas: Please stop excuse for your English errors->I'm totally convinced that you and everybody on MAL is giving their best in order to communicate with the other members, so there's no need to excuse for "bad" English. English isn't my mother tongue either and I think that anyone who expexts everybody to speak a flawless English is a big arrogant jerk. Since we both are still learning this language (and improving it by communicating on MAL) there is no need to excuse. Sry, this was just something that bothered me and I wanted to mention it. Alright, back to the topic: The plotholes: ok, maybe I did choose the wrong word with plothole. I meant "plotpoints which do require to spend a lot of time reflecting about them, in order to arrange them into the sequence of events of the show." I guess, this is a better explanation. I mean, when I watched Rah, I had the feeling that there was a coherent storyline going on in the background but most of the stuff that was shown explicitly were just hints and if you felt like it you could (with some effort) put this story puzzle together. Now, my problem is: I really don't feel like it to spend hours upon hours thinking about the actions of fictional characters in a fictional world of a fictional story because there are enough issues and problems I've got to deal with in reality. And this last sentence was really not meant to sound depreciatory in any way. The one exception is the ending of the orginial EVA Series because there I had the feeling that the guys who produced the ending were telling us about the problems we all have in our lives (Inability to communicate properly with other people no matter how hard you try etc...) And while we're at it:Altough there are moments when I really hate Shinji too because he's such a douchebag, it is important to notice that the whole story of EVA wouldn't work without Shinji being such a wuss. The whole point is that there are no real born "heroes" who wake up in the morning and then save the world without having emotional difficulties. But it is true, that the whole thing with Shinji goes overboard sometimes. So, for starters, maybe these are some questions I have: -Why did Ayato want to return to Tokyo Jupiter with the Raxhepon?->Episode 16 -Why did he leave Tokyo Jupiter so quickly again after he visited his mother? -What was up with Asahina? Why didn't the mind control (...I guess that's what it was right?) in Tokyo Jupiter affect her and why did she know that something was wrong? Why did she control that Dolem thing (has every Mulien his own Dolem?), why did she die when the Rahxephon kicked the butt of the Dolem and is there a reason why all the lights in the city didn't work anymore when the Dolem appeared?->Episode 19 -What was the purpose of Quon? - What was up with those blue cherry blossoms Itsuki Kisaragi was talking about? -Why did all these big "Space Ships" ( I guess those are Mulien space ships?)around the world appear when this Isshiki guy destroyed the Jupiter thing of Tokyo Jupiter? -Did the Muliens (aka the "Mother"? of Ayato) expect that the Barrier would be destroyed and therefore prerpared to attack the rest of the world? -Are the Mulians the bad guys or what? What reason do they have to attack the rest of the world? -Where did the Muliens come from? -For that matter why are the Muliens telling the people that the have red blood when their blood is blue? -The Bhablem Foundation or whatever it's called: What is their goal? -What was up with the cloning? Why are Ayato and Itsuki suppose to be clones, I never got that. Why did the Bahblem Foundation needed clones anyway? -What is the nature of the Raxephon? Is it the same thing as that stone(?) which was alive in episode 15? -So, Ayato's mother wasn't her mother, but what was her job then? -Ayato's memory was erased (why? I didn't even understand that) and despite the fact that his memory was ereased he still had the picture of Haruka in his mind?->The picture he's drawing all the time I mean. But he couldn't really remember and this is why Ixtli (Omg, I can't believe I'm acutally using this word) didn't look like Haruka but like Mishima? And Mishima has never existed and is just a replacement for Haruka? Wonderful, now it took my almost an hour to type this text...looks like I'm gonna spend a lot of time with this series anyway.....*sigh*...yeah, I probably will rewatch RahXephon sometimes, but who knows when I will find the time to do that. And for the record: It's not that I don't like RahXephon. I really like the mood that the series manages to create but for me, the ending left so many open questions that I just couldn't say "I liked it". |

When I watched Rah for the 1st time, I had the same questions you have now. It's impossible to enjoy an anime when you have that many questionson on your head. Back then I didn't like it either but my opinion changed drastically after rewatching (some help of other users to understand the story was really nice too). At least all i can do now is to point out the questions that doesn't have a definite "answer" : - What was up with those blue cherry blossoms Itsuki Kisaragi was talking about? I don't think that is important for the overral story. I didn't understand the reason either XD. -Are the Mulians the bad guys or what? What reason do they have to attack the rest of the world? -Where did the Muliens come from? This is what i consider one of the flaws of this show since they don't provide us the necessary information to answer these questions. -Why did all these big "Space Ships" ( I guess those are Mulien space ships?)around the world appear when this Isshiki guy destroyed the Jupiter thing of Tokyo Jupiter? I want to know why this happened too. If someone know the answer, i would be glad to know that too! All the other questions you posted have an plausible answer which can be deduced by joining the pieces the show provides us. Like the previous post said there are too many questions to answer objectively (to answer most of the questions you need some heavy backstory to understand it, but, like you, i don't have much time to do it now, but I'll promise I'll try my best on answering them in the future). At least you're not like many NGE fans which watch Rah, don't like it and don't try to look for answers for this show, all they do is to bash this show saying is a shitty NGE copy that have a shallow story and stuff like that. I really appreciate your effort on looking for answers instead of just giving up and bashing it like most people out there do. I won't apologize for my english this time XD. |

I'm checking out the link, it seems to provide some of the answers I was looking for. But you know...I kinda wish I could have figured that stuff out by simply watching the show and not looking it up, especially all the history of the Bahbem Foundation and the Mulians...I mean, how the hell are we supposed to know stuff like that, if it's never mentioned in the show? |

Some stuff are covered in the movie. The movie itself is a pretty different alternate telling of the series (think Macross and DYRL), but it does have several plot points that can complement the series. Now I feel like rewatching this too, guess I'll wait til someone do the Blu-Ray rip. |

....okay the FAQ cleared some things up but I still have thoughts and questions. 1.) It seems we don't know where the Mu people came from but from their failed project, from Ernst von Bahbem's specifically, the world was split in two for the Mu and humans. The project's initial aim was to change reality any way to the tuner's wish by altering what's physically possible. Tuning requires two Raxephons, 1 to destroy the other, the winner gets the chance to tune the world. The project to change physical reality from "tuning" is like sooo futuristic-ally advance as an ability. I find it funny that everyone is satisfied the Raxephon's can only be piloted by kids. An advance race of people put their faith in kids, lol. Why not just make more, better versions of Raxephons, and have it piloted by more suited people. The Mu people demonstrated technological prowess and seems to certainly possess this capability. 2)All this requires two instrumentalist, which happens to be Quon and Ayota. Throughout the anime Quon blabbers crptic mumbo jumbo. I think everyone in the anime did not know what she was saying, not even Ayota. I laughed at this.. Again, The age thing requiring being 17 or something to be able to pilot Raxephon is kind of silly. Mu people are advance technologically they should have just mass produce new and better Raxephon's or something. It's silly that all of a sudden no one knows how to build another better version of Raxephon. thoughts: Haruka's sister also being in love with Ayota felt kind of sudden and out of now where. Same thing with Asashina. I didn't see the build up there and it was like the anime suddenly decided to start a romantic relationship whenever it wanted. I agree with every that says Raxephon is harder to follow compared to something like NGE. I think it is the most difficult anime I've seen. I can't "like it" because I don't really understand it too... Rated this 7/10 I can answer some of tempo_plus questions. 1-Why did Ayato want to return to Tokyo Jupiter with the Raxhepon? I think that was the episodes he found out he was Mu too, so he return to Tokyo Jupiter with Quon to find out more about himself, I think he wanted to know this by talking to his mother. 2-What was up with Asahina? The FAQ says some could resist control by the golems. Asashina was resisting while in tokyo jupiter. When the controlled human, or golems die, both dies. 3--What was the purpose of Quon? I assume like Ayota, to pilot the Raxephon...and tune the world. |

I don't think the Mu could develop Rahxephon, only Bahbem could. Perhaps Bahbem has some reason for not sharing the technology with other Mulians. Though you are right, it is arbitrary that there have to be two pilots and they have to be 17. |

@Joe00123 It's hilarious that you assume Bahbem worked on the Rahxephon system alone like in his garage and kept secret knowledge from everyone. There weren't enough details, but the FAQ's said humans witness the Mu continent being destroyed or something. There should be at least some people who had worked with Bahbem too who should be able to produce more Rahxephon. The dude himself lived for a thousand year by transferring consciousness. A thousand years and Bahbems still the only one who knows the most. The Mu people must dedicate very few thinkers among their people, but I find that hard to believe... |

Yeah ok, don't be a condescending asshole. It's only an assumption. There isn't enough in the story to make a definitive prediction one way or the other as to the construction of the Rahxephon, other than that Bahbem was in some way critical to its development and he considered the project his own. You're right; if the Mu have all the relevant knowledge on Rahxephon, they should've been able to make their own. This would be a significant plothole. But if for whatever reason they don't have that knowledge, then they wouldn't be able to mass produce it. Given that the Mu aren't mass producing them, you have to make some assumption about why they can't . In sum, either make an assumption or consider the issue a plothole, your choice. |

I was writting massive post and electricity went off. Damn it. Here are my toughts, I watched TV seres. Neither movie nor special sites i dig. -Why did Ayato want to return to Tokyo Jupiter with the Raxhepon?->Episode 16 There was his homeland. There were his friends and mother. And there was a truth to be discovered. Why with RaxHephon? It is easier and safer. -Why did he leave Tokyo Jupiter so quickly again after he visited his mother? Because everything has changed. It did not cover his memories/dreams. It is just like nighmate from the 11th epsiode. Pretty discouraging. -What was up with Asahina? Why didn't the mind control (...I guess that's what it was right?) in Tokyo Jupiter affect her and why did she know that something was wrong? Why did she control that Dolem thing (has every Mulien his own Dolem?), why did she die when the Rahxephon kicked the butt of the Dolem and is there a reason why all the lights in the city didn't work anymore when the Dolem appeared?->Episode 19 They erase the mind, not the heart. People did not turn to soullest beasts. Only their memory was overwritten. And Asahina loves Ayato deeply. That deeply she could not forgive the emotion, the feeling. It was something subconsious. For the second. Mammoru stated in 21 or 22 episode that every Mulien has his Dolem. And between the Mulien and Dolem is specific bond. Bond of life. -What was the purpose of Quon? Two instrumentalists was needed. Like Adam and Eve, Mother and Father, Gaia and Uranus and so on. - What was up with those blue cherry blossoms Itsuki Kisaragi was talking about? Nothing important, just a little allegory. Cherry blossoms are red. These cherry blossoms are supposed to be blue. Blue blood and red blood. -Why did all these big "Space Ships" ( I guess those are Mulien space ships?)around the world appear when this Isshiki guy destroyed the Jupiter thing of Tokyo Jupiter? They were a lot of time there(some sometimes shows their faces through the series). Just waiting for the final encounter and coming of the most powerful of them. Like some strategic. -Did the Muliens (aka the "Mother"? of Ayato) expect that the Barrier would be destroyed and therefore prerpared to attack the rest of the world? It was just a matter of time. War is war. -Are the Mulians the bad guys or what? What reason do they have to attack the rest of the world? Unfortunately, that was not stated in TV series. Fortunately, it has nothing to do with plot. It does not change anything. -For that matter why are the Muliens telling the people that the have red blood when their blood is blue? This is interesting. None thoughts here -The Bhablem Foundation or whatever it's called: What is their goal? Their goal is simple. To become gods or even overcome them. To re-create the whole mankind. To improve creationism. To achieve something beyond human. Heck, a lot of people dreamt about it(mainly mad scientist or similiar figures). -What was up with the cloning? Why are Ayato and Itsuki suppose to be clones, I never got that. Why did the Bahblem Foundation needed clones anyway? Itsuki is just too old for Quon. They need the same age. So they put Ayato into Tokio Jupiter in order to he is not aging that fast. -What is the nature of the Raxephon? Is it the same thing as that stone(?) which was alive in episode 15? I see it as The personification of God`s Soul or something what Nietzsche could called ubermensch`s soul. -So, Ayato's mother wasn't her mother, but what was her job then? Rise him and take care for. -Ayato's memory was erased (why? I didn't even understand that) and despite the fact that his memory was ereased he still had the picture of Haruka in his mind? This memory is transcendental/metaphysical. It lied deep in the soul/heart. Itxli took Haruka because Ayato has memory of she and in odrer to succes she need to make a special bond between Itxli and instrumentalist. Is there any better choice than the woman who he beloved most? When Ayato left Ixtli it has started to disappear and RahX started to devoling to edge. ->The picture he's drawing all the time I mean. But he couldn't really remember and this is why Ixtli (Omg, I can't believe I'm acutally using this word) didn't look like Haruka but like Mishima? And Mishima has never existed and is just a replacement for Haruka? Haruka`s mother remarried(it was stated in TV series) and changed name. She had been known before as Haruka Mishima. Mind sweeping erased Ayato`s memory of she almost perfectly, but somehow he remembered the "Mishima" part(and Itxli knew how to use it properly). So she took name Mishima and her presence in order to make a special bond between Itxli and instrumentalist. It tooks name Reika, it is just symbol. Reika means spiritual influence. It said for itself, isn`t it? Taking everything into consideration erasing is a marvellous point. Maybe we are just like people on the Tokyo Jupiter? Maybe there are a lot of floating objects in the sky which is admired by us in the sunny day? Maybe there is a lot of truth to be found. But we are just humans with flaws and can not do this. Maybe there is some instrumentalist to? It reminds me the Kubrick`s masterpiec 2001: Cosmic Oddysey somehow. Also i would compare "erasing" to not remembering our very early childhood. Only few of ous can remember any details from second or third year of life. What we only remember is the special bond between people. Sounds familiar to "erasing" concept? Speaking directly about anime, I was amazed. What a piece of art. Everything is so artsy especialy the beautiful music(even opeining and ending are actually good songs, not garbage sweet pop). It is breathtaking to hear that much of good music in the anime. Animation is nearly flawless and the concept of anime does not lack anything. No massive plotholes, not unnecesary characters, no fanservice! It is unique. I also adore the psychological undertones(not as huge as in Eva though). For me it is just an more artsy and more mature version of Evangelion. Mature means it has less whining and less puberty. I do not mean that Evangelion sucks because of this( I love its aproach to cover unstability of human mind and psychic), rather I am really pleased to have two similar yet different good anime shows. The ending I see rather good, but not outstanding. If it was in Eva it would be to most sordid trollfest ever, but here it was not. The story is incredible sad so the ending might be happy even a little : ) It is also another part of uniqueness in this anime. Time to read something. |

so this entire thing is really just the machinations of some painter with too much free time on his hands? Wtf? Sorry but the last minute of this series just killed it for me. |

That's about the equivalent of saying NGE is just the machinations of some insecure and immature emo kid. It's a bit more complex than that. |

I finally finished watching this boring cartoon. I still don't understand what's happening, it all felt like Evangelion but romance instead of whiny teenagers. My brain is hurt. |

So, umm, as far as I can tell, this ending was just a glorified "press the reboot button" ending. God damn shit like that makes all the rest feel like a waste! But I will admit I enjoyed seeing Futagami shooting Bahbem right before Bahbem got to see the fruits of thousands of years of labor. Lol, how's that for some fucking punishment? Honestly though, this ending seemed too vague. I'll agree that this aspires to art and thus shouldn't hand us everything on a platter, but on the other hand I don't think art is a jigsaw puzzle. I understood some earlier episodes perfectly, and these were episodes that were pretty difficult to piece together and required an "oh, now I get it!" moment. Those were great, lots of brilliant subtlety. I guess what I'm saying is that the mindfuck element of the ending was so overplayed that it lost emotional impact. As I'm sure you can guess from my awkward complaining though, I loved this show, easily a 9/10 and a worthy variation on the Evangelion formula. |

This was great anime, it took me while to realize what exactly has happened at the end but i get it now also thanks to gbrandelero's link . Everything makes sense, There are no potholes as someone told earlier. At 1st I didn't get that Ixtli was young Haruka impostor who was created from what left from Ayato's memories, That explained also fact of changing hair color on painting in the end ;) I would not compare it to Eva because it's quite different, Eva is about psychological problems while Rah is on the other hand more about love and connection between characters. They have long history with each others. It makes them both pretty different. Thanks for this gbrandelero, it really helped lot ;) gbrandelero said: I got this site from another post here on the forum, it helped me to understand better what the hell happened in the end. It's not a waste, it's through his experiences, relationships and development that Ayato could grow into someone capable of "tuning" the world. It's a culmination of all the series' themes. |

Drama and romance, with symbolism spreaded all around, and voilà? It's rather disappointing. that was ayato and haruka at the end with the kid wasnt it? he was painting and his hair was ayatos color just with itsukis hairstyle. also questions quon is haruka and ayatos daughter? how was a new quon born? who was the parents of the other quon? did elvy, sou, everyone else come back like the spoiler in the description said? |

UnAssisT said: quon is haruka and ayatos daughter? Post-Retuning, yes. Makes the family tree even weirder, don't it? UnAssisT said: how was a new quon born? Like every other child, presumably. UnAssisT said: who was the parents of the other quon? We're never told that, actually. It might be in one of the novels (untranslated or otherwise) or the PS2 game. I have the latter, but I don't know enough Japanese to really be able to answer anything from it. UnAssisT said: did elvy, sou, everyone else come back like the spoiler in the description said? I'd have to assume so. I've stumbled a few endings of the PS2 game that seem to imply how they are in the post-Tuning world- but again, don't take my word for certain on that, as I can't translate the game's text. |

Finished this anime recently, this anime was recommended to me 5 years ago and I regret the fact that I did not watch it until recently. I loved it. The whole coming of age story resonated on a personal level very handsomely and I loved it. It was the inverse of a BONES series: jumbled beginning which got steadily more comprehensible until a great IMO ending. (The way the ending just clicks is amazing. The story is really well told. One of the few times where you can tell the writers aren't pulling stuff out of their butt, but made a series with overall great planning.) I quite liked how this series did the whole jigsaw plot. A lot of series will only have technobabble/foreshadowing scenes that will only make sense in context once you re-watch the series. RahXephon had some technobabble/foreshadowing, but it also had scenes which sounded like ordinary dialog, which only became more meaningful and really add to the depth of the series a second time around. The pacing was, by-and-large, was masterfully handled, with the exception of the first four episodes (which were fairly condensed but by no means intolerable). Also, this is a great series to watch with a film-major or writing major. There's oodles of neat direction techniques and subtle catches you probably won't notice unless you're really on the ball, and they all work towards telling an excellent story. (he creators of Rahxephon are obviously extremely well read and intelligent people. For the plot and story line of this anime to make sense and avoid the boredom it emits in most people, one has to understand a number of things. The anime's plot is based around the writings of Mr. Churchward. His ideas are alluded to in every instant of the show. Throughout the anime we also see direct references to JRR Tolkiens "Music of the Ainur," CS lewis's "Narnia," Sections of "Genesis," several works by William Faulkner, and even Gabriel Garcia Marquez's "One Hundred Years of Solitude." Also, Mayan creation philosophy also plays a tremendous role on the plot.) This show appealed to the part in me who likes to puzzle out clever plotting and the sentimentalist in me who bawls over touching character relationships. |

Original romantic relationship. Would like to know more about the origins of the Mu for a conclusion. Overall 8/10, this may be the highest I have given to a mecha series Also is it just me or does Haruka look a little different from the Reika Mishma we know? |

My take on this last episode was: Ishtori is the connection between the performer and Rah, and for this to work, the performer has to accept (love) his/her Ishtori. Consequently Ishtori assumes the form that suits the tastes of the performer (the responsible for Ishtori's form are the feelings and memories of the performer, the show explains this way). The last minute show us that Ayato's Ishtori has the shape that resembles Haruka, even after a brainwash he still remembers the shape and characteristics of the woman he loved! By the end of the day, that's a implicit love story. Notice that Quon's Ishitori... is Ayato(episode 22 minute 14-15, if you wat to check it out).Quon loved Ayato. Thats the reason that, at the last episode, Quon said, at the "dream at the subway", that she wanted the world Ayato wants because she loved him (one flaw: i still don't know the exact reason she loves him, all we can do is speculate), so she LET him win to recreate the world the way he wanted to do, she could easily win against him. Confucius said: Also is it just me or does Haruka look a little different from the Reika Mishma we know? Mishima Reika has brown hair, unlike Haruka above :D |

Itsuki-san ;.; RIP Okay so I guess she was programmed to love Itsuki although somehow, I think she developed real feelings of hers own for him. The confession coming from Megumi felt so natural tbh. I liked that part. A happy ending to this show I guess although I'm not sure this is a perfect conclusion to this type of show. Overall, 7.5/10. Pretty good series imo with its surrealism and soundtrack. |
