| Heh, I do hope you read the synopsis of some of the anime being recommended here Animefreak17a. Anyway, perhaps Steins;Gate? It does feature mystery to an extent, and the whole second half the series is dramatic, a thriller at best. Comedy too, if she understands some of the jokes, as well as some emotional moments. | Monster. This is a great thriller - not as fast-paced as Death Note - but has lots of great plot twists and emotional drama. There is a bit of mystery, but it's more philosophical than whodunnit. This is the one I'd recommend above the others. From the short list you compiled, I'd go with Count of Monte Cristo. This doesn't have that much humor to it - it's a very serious story - but there is some mystery as to who the Count is (probably not that mysterious if you're vaguely familiar with the story), with terrific emotional drama and some solid plot twists. Baccano! would be one to save for later, because the way it tells the story can be a little confusing. It's not in chronological order - even different scenes within an episode can be during different times - but by the third episode it all starts coming together. This has some solid comedy, but is also a very good mystery with some solid drama and plot twists. Definitely a winner. |

I was just thinking Monster would be the most appropriate considering she likes Death Note. It's seems like the next logical step anyways, I've always personally liked Monster better. Also I was really thinking since she's a mother why not watch a nice family friendly drama/action/fantasy series like - Kemono no Souja Erin Seirei no Moriboto The above is really high quality anime if ya ask me, go for those first. In any case here is more appropriate anime that a mature person might like, especially if she has any interest at all in sci-fi or supernatural themes - Planetes Mushishi Mononoke |
