While my taste in anime is a little bit more diverse, my manga tastes tend to revolve around things that are either very artistic or very manly, with an emphasis on violence, cool technical devices and abilities -

As several examples, I enjoy Blade of the Immortal, Berserk, Battle Angel, Air Gear, Samurai Deeper, and the such, and along with those, I've read Hellsing, Black Lagoon, Blame!, etc. You can find more on my list, if you'd like.

But now I'm out of ideas - I need more manly manga to read! Any suggestions? Which are your favorites? Why?

Have you tried Vagabond. About Miyamoto Musashi so there's samurai action. Really good storyline, following Musashi as he goes on his journey to become the best swordsmen.

Now that's some manly manga.

Of course, this thread would be remiss if it didn't mention Hokuto no Ken. That might be the manliest of the manly. It's like the book was chiseled out of pure testosterone. If you stick it in your back pocket and walk around town, you'll be living the Axe commercials. It's just that manly.

Maybe GetBackers?
http://myanimelist.net/manga.php?id=19

There are many characters with abilities (Ginji has electric related, Ban has his evil eye among other things, and other characters later introduced with animal control, needles, strings, and so on). Ginji and Ban take jobs getting 'things' back for people as well as having to face and fight other people trying to transport or get the same things. It's a lot more exciting than how it might sound by my explanation >_>

Trying to think of how to best explain it as well as not tell too much..

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is sufficiently manly, and could possibly be considered the spiritual successor of Hakuto no Ken (Araki's early artwork and influences takes heavily after Tetsuo Hara's style). The series is something akin to a generational saga, each story arc covering the adventures of one of the Joestar family line, the title being derived from the abbreviation of each of the main character's names (JOnathan JOestar, JOseph JOestar, JOtaro KuJO...), as they battle the forces of evil across England, America, Mexico, Italy, Japan, Asia, Egypt...and in an interesting take on the shounen formula, many of the battles rely on them outsmarting their opponents rather than simply fighting them, although over-the-top violence still abounds; as does Western rock music references.

Not for everyone (certainly lives up to it's "Bizarre" mentality), but who knows, you might find something to keep you reading. I myself took a couple volumes to get into the swing of things.

Besides the point, most of you should already be familiar with this series. Even if you've never read it or heard the name, you should be familiar with it. Why? Because:

WRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

I'd recommend Akira, if you haven't tried it already. Also, there's a title I remember buying from a comic book store in America, called "Grey/Gray". I don't know if it still exists, but if you find it, you'll be lured by the warlike story.

Hmmm... considering what you have on your list I would HIGHLY recommend you GANTZ... it is visually stunning and the concept is quite manly I suppose... judging by the rest of your tastes and how you voted some of the stuff on your list i think you'd REALLY enjoy GANTZ

I'm reading some Gantz right now.

It is sufficiently manly, with manly tears and busty women and all, and a sufficiently nice touch of the paranormal. I've had some trouble finding Hokuto no Ken, although by the looks of it, I'd like to try it out :)

Umm, I'm not really one for super "manly" manga, but I enjoy shounen, and I'd say Yu Yu Hakusho is worth a read (um, may not fit your definition, but it has a lot of fighting, and it's pretty awesome imo)

Priest

Some good old fashioned violence and occult action.

Ghost in the Shell

Plenty of violence, technology and a helping of sex.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

Well giant fighting robots, what better than that?

Claymore

Swords, blood, guts and deamons.

Here are some "manly" manga in my opinion
Death Note
It was so awesome that my parents banned me from it...

Fullmetal Alchemist

Gantz
I don't read but I am scarred for life from watching the first episode

Rurouni Kenshin
Blood :) Lots and lots of Blood :)

Chrono Crusade

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Lots of Robot Violence

Basilisk
I've only heard of it

Zombie Powder

Bleach

Bobobobobobobo
It's not manly, just read it if you're depressed...

Zombie Loan
READ OR WATCH IT >:] >:]

Ghost in the shell

Battle Royale

Excel Saga
If you are in the mood for laughs, read it.

That's my list. There ARE others I like but you wouldn't like them.

Of course. Only the manliest of men can put off masturbation/sex, especially in the situation he is in, for a month.

The line between manly manly manga and Harlequin Romance cover is apparently a thin one indeed.

Young GTO (Shonan Junai Gumi) has its share of manly moments and violence... though by today's standards it's a bit old fashioned and probably hard to associate with.

A lot of works from Takashi Hamori are also pretty manly (or about becoming manly). lots of fighting, lots of ecchi content. and I still don't see why the mangaka doesn't have a single one of his manga on this site despite having quite a good collection of work.

Umm I don't know... maybe it has something to do with the fact that Guts is arguably the most GAR character of all time? Or the fact that Berserk's target audience is adult males. Or that it depicts mostly male figures doing things that are traditionally seen as "manly" by most of the world's cultures (i.e. Fighting wars, slaying monsters, accomplishing feats with Herculean strength, etc).

That would make the series stereotypical maybe, but certainly NOT sexist (come on Caska pre-eclipse is one of the best female leads in all of anime/manga. She is strong, skilled, intelligent, 2nd in command, and has a mind of her own.)

Also, why would someone be considered sexist for wanting to find more series in the genre that they enjoy reading. Do you consider girls that only enjoy Shoujo series sexist? Maybe they just like to read what they find pleases them the most.

well if you liked Blame! there are a bunch of other manga that develop in the same world, last one is Biomega that's still being published, anyway on the BLAME! page there are listed all prequel, sequels and spin offs.
If you liked Air Gear I guess Tenjou Tenge is another good one (but I notice now that it's already on your plan to watch list :P)

Also Sakigake!! Otokojuku is both manly and fun, actually it's so manly that it becomes fun :P

Also I second JoJo... it's one of my favourite manga, it starts as manly and somewhat bizzare and goes on to become so strange that it hurts, but it's still great, it actually gets better.

After this I don't really know if you like that kind of manga, but also Yuu Yuu Hakusho could be a good choice.
Needs to fix this sometime but I'm lazy - since 11/05/2009

I can't emphasize enough how right the above is. With that said, it should also come with a recommendation for Garouden, written by the same author as Baki, except way more realistic, even more visceral, and completely insane.

Also, there's Battle Royale, probably the coolest, most exciting manga ever.
