| I prefer dfferent groups for different animes. No such thing as accurate group, IMO. They will most likely change sentences to shorten it and match western dialogues |

| To catch the mistakes you have to understand the dialog to some extent... but yeah, most groups make mistakes that are small enough to not totally ruin the show. It is pretty good average quality for practically anonymous volunteer work though :) |

| Hmm if I could actually detect the errors, there would be no point in caring eh. It would mean I understood Japanese, and I'd be watching it unsubbed and raw without text interferring with the view. I'd be surprised if the groups didn't differ. I mostly find it weird when a sub that has a dub, is not identical. If a phrase in Japanese is translated to mean a string of words in English in text, then the same phrase should be spoken identically. Come on, when I speak English, it sounds the same way when I speak the damn words. If I put this through a program that was meant to speak back what I wrote, it would be the same damned thing. I've heard dumb ass reasons for why it is different. Ad they are dumb ass reasons. Yes I realize the lips of the person in the show will not always match the sentence as spoken. Do the people doing dubs actually think I am going to magically forget they were not speaking English originally? Of course the lips movement won't fucking match. |

| Having a favorite group is mostly pointless seeing as how each group only does certain anime, If I only watched the groups I'm knew was good then I would miss out on anime I would actually wanna watch. |

Since most of us on this site who watch anime are not fluent in Japanese there is no way for us to tell how accurate their translations are. The only thing we can tel isl if the translator is being lazy do to untranslated words being left in,for example if a special attack being called by it's Japanese name instead of it being translated or a Japanese honorific will be left in instead of simply finding an English equivalent. I really don't have a favorite fan sub group.I might have at one time but now I just worry about which group finishes a series I want first. |

| Coalgirls or Subdesu. I go to them first, even though Subdesu likes to westernize their translations, and tend to screw up a little here and there. I've never seen them mess up the plot line though, and other groups have. |

As someone with rudimentary Japanese and curious intent I prefer subs with TL Notes, and those that preserve '-dono,-chan,-san, etc...' The alternative I accept is 'mister' for '-san.' I don't think anyone calls an emperor ’陛下さん' (Heikasan) but if that is said I'd prefer the subs 'Mister Majesty' or something similar. The nuances in the original should carry over to translation. I also prefer direct, literal, translations. I do not require 'localisation' efforts. Also of note are even currencies(JPY -> USD? while useful, sometimes really should just be kept original, which is why you don't see Final Fantasy saying USD or CNY or CAD) and times, since different regions use different formatting (12 hr or 24 hr). Usually Spanish will leave questions with question marks at both sides. |

| Just go on the anime page on MAL and go near the bottom to see what some of the viewers prefered for their fansubs. Seems a bunch people don't really quite use this. |

I prefer 高校三年生 -> High school, senior/third year to refer to those who are preparing for University Entrance Exams. |

| sometimes they need to change the dialogue a bit to make it flow more naturally in English. other times, there's really no way to translate it well into English, especially jokes that are a play on words. in those cases, sub groups usually come up with a different joke that's not accurate but works well. an "accurate" translation is not necessarily the best. also: >2012 |
