I'll go back to that part and, check to see if it was just a mistake or if he was actually duel wielding Edit: I went back to check it and, ya it clearly shows him duel wielding axes images below. It's probably the animators fault not the story creators I don't think it's cause for concern. |

Not really Like I said I doubt there is any real need for concern. It was most likely a mistake on the animators parts and, like most of us the people who checked to see if everything was good didn't notice it. I heard that the writer of the LN is working with the anime people. I don't think she would let something like that slide. Unless we see a fight or interaction with a real character that is duel wielding It's safe to say it was just a mistake. |

yep thats a huge error that shouldn't even be there but i remember reading in the Ln that its not impossible for people to wield two weapons so some people tried to dual wield two weapons and tried to use use skills but because dual wielding skill doesn't exist, it ended in a failure and any means of trying only ended as a fake imitation i think that guy was trying to use dual axes but was unable to do proper skills such as kirito's starburst stream or double circular and that he was only able to do a limited number of 1 handed axe skills on both hands still that was an error but it is considering that guy is not even a proper character and is now in prison, it isn't much of a problem and please be mindful of spoilers some people don't even know what dual blades is and how important it is in kirito's character |

I think it's possible but, he couldn't use skills like when the weapons glow and, stuff. If you watch other scenes you see people put down and, pick up weapons so it should be possible to pick up 2 weapons you just couldn't use your skills like that. Since SAO relies on skills unlike ALO it's harder to use no skills then, skills but, the end result would be doing more "technical" damage with 2 weapons rather then, 1 |

^yup its possible you could definitely do more damage that way but considering sword skills do the most damage, it won't make much of a difference because in the end, he only has a "1 handed skill" slot so its not like he could do a higher number of strikes to deal more damage anyway we're going into detail a bit too much about it, lets just call it a glitch in the anime and hope that they patch things up |

They're at floor 50 already and it's been several years. How can they possibly pick up the main story now? I have yet to read the LN, but I doubt the LN just derps through 50 floors and several years? I originally thought at floor 50 the first season would be finished or something, since they're half way, and god was I wrong. Please, PLEASE, correct me if I'm wrong. |

In most MMOs lv makes a huge difference in stats/hp. Tanking a group of people 30lvs lower than you should be nothing. Not to mention that I'm pretty sure the main objective of Sword Art Online was always to finish it and get to the final floor, even before the Controller added the negative bonus "Death = Death". I'm sure even at Kirito's level, there are also monsters just as, and even more frigging powerful; ones srtong enough to even do him in at this point. It's not unbalanced at all, actually, Jimqi. Honestly it's pretty basic for the grinding style of mmorpg or mmofps it follows. And that makes it sensible, because if there wasn't such a leap in pwer between levels, how on earth could real gamers ever find it fun and or exhilerating to play? And don't froget, either, that Kirito has probably levelled every single one of his Abilities and Skills to the max to make him the ultimate player no matter his level. Whereas those noobs in the orange clan probably hadn't even begun to level any of their things at all. |

Vforvendetta said: I'm also agree with kaimax, those side stories explain lots of thing that happen in SAO world, as a light novel reader, the novel itself is no different when the author first introduced kirito as a high level player in SAO, and everything started at 74th floor without any explanations, it's the truth. Technically the novel didn't portray how he reach that high level, and u guys honestly want to see how he level up from 1 - 78 in the entire anime? Killing mobs, level up, spending points on skills, eat, sleep then keep doing it until he reaches his current level, he is a solo player and that's what hes entirely doing in SAO and u guys want to show all of that into anime? So basically instead of portraying side story which helps who haven't read the novel to understand more about the SAO world ( we know about orange player, guild, etc and pet tamer in this episode), some people prefer the leveling progress to be shown on the show *sigh. Introducing side story first is a wise choice I must say, so u guys won't be amazed by the awesomeness of the plot later on. My perspective on the show was quite normal, not until I read the light novel and realize what they intend to do with each episode. This is the case with Harry Potter, It's the novel made the movies famous, not the other way around. and yeah 74th floor to be exact. |

It's a shame that future generations of anime and manga fans can now associate the term "The Black Swordman" with shitty Gary Stu Kirito instead of Guts. Or even worse: Actually think that SAO has a "deep" story with "dark themes" and isn't just a power-fantasy for teenagers, who probably feel better irl because they grinded to max gear in WoW. Fuck you for that, SAO. And fuck this episode as well. This series is pretty bad so far. |

This series is pretty bad so far. he isn't a gary stu, ive already mentioned this before in this thread but ill say it again to save you time rereading the previous pages, kirito didn't reach that kind of level easily, he trained through dangerous methods by fighting monsters on the frontline solo, when normally you would have party (team) to cover your back, he reaped the most amount of xp this way but came close to death many times, although it isn't as clear as the LN, it does state it in the anime at a few points like when argo tells him that his methods of training have become extremely dangerous on another note, even though they haven't stated this in the anime yet, his battle healing is a skill that can only be leveled up by sustaining large amounts of damage which is proof that he has been in the red zone (near death) many times, he is lucky to be alive and his kind are rare because solo players like him have extremely short lifespans in SAO but he has managed to pull through it all also these are only the introductory episodes, right now their putting everything into to place and setting the scene for the main arcs, soon it will all come together and you will realize that they did what they had to do judging by the content that needs to be covered before the main arc, i say that the main story will start to take place at around episode 7/8 thats where the series will stop being episodic |

Guts as the black swordsman would not be overshadowed by Kirito the other black swordsman since it is bad. |

Ohhh that felt good! I loved the way he wiped the smirk on her face. ^_^ Wait, he's a bounty hunter now? Not that I'm complaining. And his boots got spurs! I didn't see any horse-riding around in SAO yet, maybe he's using it as wheels? LOL Still not complaining though. XD Finally some hard numbers from the guy himself, currently level 78, 14,500HP, HP Auto-regenerates 600 points every 10 seconds. Now I'm wondering what floor level is the current front-line for this episode... |

One day I started it up again and wanted to try that "new" (not so new now) dungeoneering, only to discover that you must not be carrying any items and my bank was 3 times as full as non-members were allowed to. |

^ Yeah, "clearer" basically the front-line fighter. In a world of SAO, when death is real, do you think there are such an amount of hundreds player brave enough to be called clearer? Well maybe but only a few survive after boss battling/ dungeon though :P Seems like clearers are really rare on the lower floors, almost a legend. I would say it probably less than a hundred player have both skill and experience. Even a guild can have thousands of player but the amount of high level player are only 10~30 each guild. Especially when kirito is a solo player and his level is the highest in SAO. not mentioning about healthcliff though. |

kamikaze_1996 said: he isn't a gary stu, ive already mentioned this before in this thread but ill say it again to save you time rereading the previous pages, kirito didn't reach that kind of level easily, he trained through dangerous methods by fighting monsters on the frontline solo, when normally you would have party (team) to cover your back, he reaped the most amount of xp this way but came close to death many times, although it isn't as clear as the LN, it does state it in the anime at a few points like when argo tells him that his methods of training have become extremely dangerous on another note, even though they haven't stated this in the anime yet, his battle healing is a skill that can only be leveled up by sustaining large amounts of damage which is proof that he has been in the red zone (near death) many times, he is lucky to be alive and his kind are rare because solo players like him have extremely short lifespans in SAO but he has managed to pull through it all A Gary Stu "is a fictional character with overly idealized and hackneyed mannerisms, lacking noteworthy flaws, and primarily functioning as a wish-fulfillment fantasy for the author or reader." Idealized and hackneyed mannerisms: Dark, broodling loner with "tragic" past is not hackneyed for you? Noteworthy flaws: Oh sure, he suffers some damages and has to undergo "risky moves" that could "kill" him. I am sure the fact that he gets one unique ability after another, admin powers and a ton of other stuff just becase of plot convenience is more than enough to compensate for that little inconvenience. Not to mention the fact that he seems to attract every magical sword to existance and wins almost every tournament/race/cooking contest/whatever.... Functioning as a wish-fulfillment fantasy for the author or reader: take a good, GOOD look at this thread. Don't you think that at least this point applies? I could expand this argument of Light Novels in general, but that would be off-topic. tzukimata said: where was it ever emphasized the words "deep" and "darkplot"? link please... power fantasy in my view is not a bad thing[...]*edit- ok now i see, lol you got offended? because your favorite character is GUTS? and only high priority manga is berserk? don't get me wrong i find that manga great I am partially offended because of that, I don't deny that. However, his whole social awkwardness and all his "friends" dying just to give him a -pseudo oh-so-tragic backstory we are supposed to care about (even though the fast pacing made it pretty hard to emphasize with these characters as we barely knew them), his whole loner attitude, the whole plot in general...I know it's just a Shounen, but this whole setting feels contrived to me. Vforvendetta said: you sir, should shut up and die. Haters gonna hate. The legendary novel made an appearance with browsing numbers exceeding 6.5 million page views recorded at the personal website. so basically what you say is that 6.5 mil pp who read the novel are all considered as "teenagers". Your so smart sir. well, the term "power-fantasy" may be right in this case, but it's only one of many reason that make this novel famous, so as Harry Potter you *** head. By that logic Justin Bieber would be a good singer and the bible is the best book of the earth...popularity =/= quality. Most of you should've noticed that by now. And I like how you insult me in the very first sentence of your post, you are the type of mature viewer I expected from the SAO fanbase. Despite the initial premise, this anime is a failure so far and this can largely be contributed to the MC and the bad pacing. And as usual, younger MAL users hype this series to death. Guilty Crown of the season... |
