Awkward moment when I actually like a lot of JC Staff's anime (Nodame Cantabile, Honey and Clover, and Bakuman in particular). Well, I'm not a VN player so I don't have much expectations right now. I am also a bit skeptical of Horie Yui voicing a male character though...

Still, it's not fair to just assume that the entire anime will be terrible because of it. I'm not familiar with any of the source material of their adaptions, but I do know that they have been criticized a lot for these. It's okay to be nervous about the adaption, but to just deem it off as "it's going to be shit" like some people have/are before even airing is pretty unfair to the anime itself.

I'll admit, I'm a bit worried myself about how this'll turn out considering my own bad experiences with them (Ano Natsu, Zero no Tsukaima, etc.) but all the intense hate on the adaption already is just, well stupid in my opinion.

I know the souce material. The filler arcs/routes are badly written and they will take up 80% time of the whole show IF they are going to be adapted - and according to the last trailer they will be adapted. And they'll have to rush the best and longest part of the story. They could have easily discarded some routes, like they did in Clannad.

But there will be no season 2, so Refrain will have to fit in this + all routes. It's going to be fucking rushed.

Well, nice to know you've went into the future and witnessed first-hand how much this show is going to suck. You mind telling us exactly what is going to happen, since you have obviously seen it already? Would be a good incentive for the other cynics to steer as far away from this show as possible.

It would be a bigger problem if they DIDN'T do the character routes. Now THAT is what I would call rushed, and would majorly piss off fans of those specific characters.

I really hope they won't rush through Refrain. It's easily the best freakin' route in the entire game!

Maybe a second season concentrating on Refrain won't be such a bad idea, since S1 looks like its going to have all the heroine routes in it. (+ maybe Saya, since we saw her in the first PV).

So, how again do you know that it will be badly written if not even one episode has been released..? Where does it say there'll be no season two? This is what I mean - you're talking as if you know exactly how this anime will turn out.

Also @your above post, disregarding someone's own viewpoints because of their tastes in anime is completely ignorant. Them having K-On! on their favorites list doesn't make their opinion have any less value then if they had LoGH on it. In fact, what they said was completely true.

Lol that's pretty childish. A person's top 5 has nothing to do with this argument yet you wont argue with someone because of it?

Grow up dude. Your entire argument has been nullified just from this childish statement alone. If you can't argue/debate properly, don't do it at all.

Agreed. I'm used to be skeptical about JC Staff anime (Arcana Famiglia is s*it, as I guessed it would be), but I think hate is just valid when you actually see things already done.
Honestly, I prefer being hyped for LB and get disappointed than keep hating before the anime is started. JC Staff can do good adaptations.

If the source material is badly written, how can the adaptation turn out good? That can't be improved. The only good part of the VN is Refrain. On the official twitter account of Key, one of the staff explained the production policy of the Little Busters anime. Although the order of the events might be different from the original game, there won't be alterations in the story nor anime original characters. He said the length of the TV series is significantly long, but still it was necessary to shorten the original story to adapt it to the limited number of episodes. He added that the relationships among Rin, Komari, and other new members of the Little Busters team might be described more in detail than in the game.

this was on the post from "Anxiety over J.C Staff btw. I expect atleast 20 Episodes, Unless we get trolled hard.

This is the very studio that crippled Tsukihime. I can't honestly believe that statement.

The trailer does not look promising too. Just look at the hair flow, detail and the roof spinning scene.

I can say with confidence KyoAni does those a lot better. Just... so much better.

Simple - they execute it better and improve the writing. You don't have to change the entire plot to improve a source material's writing. Also, you're the first person I've heard to complain about this as well.

Well, despite what the trailer shows, it's best not to assume things until there's an official announcement or until the anime is complete. I know that the gameplay is long and 26 episodes may be rushing it, but you never know just how it'll turn out. As long as they don't pull an Angel Beats! with it that is.

I also enjoyed Angel Beats!, which was an anime original, like Madoka.

I can only hope so. I am hoping for Nodame animation and Toradora execution really. Honey & Clover doesn't really apply although it's what J.C. has not terribly wrecked as well. In short, I sincerely hope this does not fail.

Changes on the original material would be nice if they turn to be improvements. There are some anime adaptations that I prefer more than the original source.

Now you say Angel Beats, don't know if I should say this but I have a feeling that if LB is beign produced with less episodes than necessary, it might turn into "2012 Angel Beats": somewhat rushed but dividing a lot os opinions.

My main worry is the animation quality. With J.C.Staff, I was hoping for at least some solid animation, but it seems really disappointing. Compare it to Hyouka, which KyoAni is currently doing. I feel like raging. >:

- Adaptation > Source Material CAN happen, though very rare. Ex: K-ON, although it's just a claim from some people since I didn't read K-ON manga. Again, quality is pretty relative.
- Don't over-analyze a trailer, which isn't a seasonal review. Clannad S1 has ushio in it, but Ushio never showed up in S1, right? I guess it's a purely logical decision to include teaser about refrain, the main selling point of LB.
- The official answer for your anxiety is it will be significantly long. I'm positive that it will be at least 26 eps (bye bye angel beats). My own prediction is 26+13, but we'll see later.

This is not the time to over-analyzing the future, I'm running out of popcorn already after numerous baseless discussion about Little Busters! Let's just wait.

p.s About Yui Horie, actually she is one of seiyuu that capable in long range of voice, so it's OK for me. Riki's voice in VN is already girly from the start.

I'm not keeping my expectations really high or anything, but I must say I'm a little annoyed by all the negative comments about how the anime is gonna suck when it's not even out yet. Sure it's gonna be JC Staff and of course they will cut out some details from the VN. It IS an anime adaptation, and we see that kind of stuff so frequently with different studios. I quote Sakurano Kurimu from Seitokai no Ichizon ep1: "Understand the differences between media!" As Little Busters fans, can't we all simply be happy of the fact that the VN we love is finally going to be animated?

LB fans should at least be happy that the VN they love will be divulgated for more people. Even if the anime sucks, probably will fulfill its function on attracting some more people to the original material.

I'm already attracted, even before the anime is aired! LOL

The source material doesn't have to change completely for the writing to improve. Like said above, it could add improvements. It's not fair to just assume the worst. KyoAni has done bad adaptions too, you know.

I enjoyed Angel Beats! as well, but what I'm saying is that people should be grateful for at least 26 episodes and hope that it doesn't turn out rushed like in AB! I agree with Mary_Vanucchi, though I think the dividing opinions thing is already set-in to happen. It's already happening and the anime hasn't even aired yet.

Someone also said something about overthinking a trailer, which I agree with as well. They aren't going to bring out the best animation and scenes in a 2 minute trailer, and just because it's in the trailer doesn't mean everything in it is limited to season one. I just think a lot of fans are scared and overreacting because of J.C. Staff's reputation and their love for the VN.

I'm pretty sure everyone will end up hating them though if they screw this up, which is why I'm more optimistic towards this adaption. I mean if they fuck up, they're done.

Looking from the positive side,

previous trailer :

recent trailer :

You can't deny that they already made a leap of improvement. Also, we get (another) remix of Little Busters! (OP)

Actually, I'm already pretty satisfied if they keep the animation in quality of that trailer. Comparing JC Staff product with Hyouka in term of animation is a suicide with expectation. Why you want to compare it with the best (pretty much almost not arguable) animation details and consistency in TV series in recent seasons?

Wait, so it's not a baseball anime?

It's a story of friends who decide to play baseball and other funny-silly things for lulz, behind a "twist".

If Clannad is about family, the main theme of LB pretty much is about friendship.

Looks good so far from what I can tell. Now lets see if J.C. Staff can hit it out of the park.

J.C. Staff. I will be waiting for the shitstorm...
As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all.
