All i gotta say is (looks at naked gil) move off that rock (takes off shirt and gets naked) time to show you how a real man sits on a rock....

On a more serious note great series. Coming from a fan who has seen everything and more likely wasted way more then my own personally life and time on Fate and anything to do with it.(movie, fanbase stuff ,pics, games, visual novel,Light novels, anime series and even getting into weiss for fate) Im pleased and to me everything connections from fate zero to Fate stay night to Fate hollow so on.(considering anything i wanted to know more about researched hardcore like if it was a college final) SO im more then pleased and just happy it got the time to shine like it did. I just hope heavens feel will get some love and a chance. Since you can never have enough fate....
Now i dont feel bad for having a entire room base on fate stuff that grows everyday

Well, that's all folks.

It's been a fun 9 months. Overall, it was one hell of an adaption of the novels.
Indeed. I had lots of fun with this community and everyone. Big round of APPLAUSE to the many who devoted their times and energies in writing out and discussing marvellously this series. Truly you know who you are and your merits. There has been no more amazing crowd of knowledge and VN along with LN depth than here on MAL. Really TT_TT to all the wonderful knowledge from the many. There are no other means of happiness I can express despite not being too present in those discussions. Truly those deserve much appreciation you all.

I leave in your hands a little discussion in the spoiler
is this some kind of Joke? Is this a new Rider type to come in the future or ???? I found it just now around the NET. Imagine they put her instead of Alexander, oh the magical girl notion suddenly. ROFL!

I also find baffling the following poster in the spoiler
truly I have no idea other than a girl to love this poster.

Also Gilgamesh naked was O_O GTFO out of my face this body of his. It's for girls not my eyes.

Astolfo is actually a guy (yes, i guess that makes him a trap). Can't wait for the Fate/Apocrypha LN tho. Don't know WHEN it's gonna EVER be released.

As for this episode, it was ridiculously satisfying. Haven't felt so good about a "bad guy wins" ending since WC3 TFT.

Awesome ending for the best show of the Spring 2012 season! ^.^

The writing in this show (light novel) is pure epicness. Kiritsugu realized that rejecting the Grail only caused more innocent casualties and he began to reflect on his sinful actions that he did during the War. While Kirei fully understands his evilness by looking at all the destruction and mischief of the town.

That is so sick that Kirei gave Rin the dagger which was used to KILL her father. So evil, so ironic. :')

The whole conversation about heroes really sets up for Stay/Night.

I haven't watched Fate Stay Night yet (but I do have an idea about what's going to happen) , so I might give it a chance in the near future.

Well, it depends on what you mean by "avenge" and it also depends on the route. Shirou takes Kiritsugu's ideal upon himself, even of he does not fully realize its meaning. (If you want to know more, you should take the above user's advice though. And also stop writing every word starting with caps too, while you're at it.)

All that suffering... all that pain... all for nothing... It was wonderful...
I really enjoyed watching everyone's fall one by one... Kirei became my absolute favourite character of the show.
Saber being a cause for Lancelot's defeat... And Kiritsugu losing even Ilya and living that pathetic life 'till the end. Everything was so well arranged. But it feels like everyone got what they deserved.

Kinoko Nasu, the founder of Type-Moon and the creator of the Fate/Stay Night visual novel, actually gave his opinion on this:

"Ahhh – Well done, Urobuchi Gen."

Finished reading all four volumes, I close the book with heavy feelings in my heart and raise my face to the sky before letting out a sincere word of thanks.

Too cruel.

Too heavy.

No one reaches salvation at all.

But despite these sacrifices, there are still some sparks of light remaining in our hearts.

Creation and destruction are a pair of twins. Everything was swallowed up in crimson flames and all disappeared with the wind. Yet in the end, a new life budded forth from a desolate battlefield that should only have been left with infinite sorrow.

This light was infinitely small compared to all that had been lost, but it was incomparably nobler as a result. We who can only watch can only feel touched by that light.

I only hope to add a little more value to the story.

Even if he himself did not succeed in the end, the heir to his aspiration will one day appear –

I'd rather have both, but yes, a proper UBW adaptation should come before a HF anime (since it's the best arc and all!).

Would love too but let's see what Ufotable wants to. If they want Saber salvation then it is obviously Fate, if it is Kerry salvation then they must go with Heaven's Feel.

I can definitely see why some people didn't like this episode. It's more of a set up for Fate stay night. And sadly Fate stay night has yet to get a proper adaptation. I'm pretty sure everyone will be satisfied if we get a good adaptation of Fate stay night, mainly the HF route of FSN.

Reading previous posts will help with that.
As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all.

Well, thanks for the series, this been an awesome journey that began all the way back last Fall. Archer being badass, Rider being just pure epic, and Saber being the glorious king that she is.

Also, great to see little Shiro with his cameo ^_^

This series has been a jewel of anime for 2011 and 2012. Animation, music, story and characters were first class and few anime series obtain all gardes like that these days. I may have left Fate/Saty Night Incomplete, but I don't have the slightest regret that I picked up Fate/Zero before I did complete it.

I knew that Kariya's fate would be like this, but I felt it was cruel that he just died and was thrown away like trash while Sakura could not say anything better than "fool". Well, at least he died happy.

I remembered I was dissapointed that the fight between Saber and Berserker was not given much attention, but I'm glad that it was quickly redeemed.

And now it's clear. Only one character died in the first season, and that character was Assasin. But in the second season, twelve characters died satisfied or in despair. This is the style of Urobuchi Gen.

A series completly worth my time. I give it a respectable 9/10. But now I keep wondering what I will do now when my weekend entertainment is gone.

Wait Avalon was given to Shirou, so doesn't that mean Shirou can't die in Fate Stay Night? How come he died in the beginning and Rin had to save him. Was this Studio Deen's fault?

Gae Bolg slows down Avalon healing anyways.
Even if it worked without summoning Saber, it wouldn't be able to heal his heart fast enough.

Oh. Thanks guys.

Did Avalon ever come in handy in FSN? I rewatched episode 23/24 and Shirou traced Avalon, which left me confused. I had no idea what it did, but it looked like it gave Saber a super power up to beat Gilgamesh lol. So, what exactly was the point of Avalon in the ending of FSN? I thought it only makes the holder invincible.

Avalon saved his life in almost every fight in Fate or UBW...either Avalon or UBW or both. Avalon heals him, UBW hardens his body and pieces it back together.

It also isolates the user from this world to another dimension which is why she survived that Ea blast.
And he traced another one because he gave the "original" Avalon to Saber in his people die when they are killed scene.

No, that was in the story. He gave it back to Saber because she had to fight Gilgamesh and she didn't had enough power to stop him without it. Then again, the end of Fate was a little too unrealistic what with Saber somehow pulling off like 3-4 Excalibur's when at the start of Fate just one put her on the border of death. But yeah, Fate had some asspulls. UBW and Heaven Feel's were a little better.

The 3-4 Excaliburs was somehow explained.
VN said that she got some prana back from regaining Avalon...at least more than what sex gave her...
Nonetheless still an asspull considering how Shirou was leeching off it all this time...

In the VN:

Even if I die, if Saber beats Gilgamesh, Kotomine won't be able to obtain the Holy Grail.
At the same time, even if Saber diesif I defeat Kotomine, Gilgamesh won't be able to stay in this world.
…So there's no need to help each other.
Our battles have already gone their separate ways.

How come Gil would disappear? I thought he has his own legit body in FSN.

Shirou isn't omniscient. He doesn't have the same amount of information we do. He didn't know how Gilgamesh stayed other than that the grail did something so he assumed that Gil was still linked to Kirei in some way.

I'm going through the last few chapters of the VN and how come Ea can do that Ea blast thing. I thought someone in the past said it's only a 'Deen' thing (i.e. made up). Even in Fate Zero (anime), it was basically a nullifying sword thing, so what's with the Ea blast all of the sudden lol.

Was Gil just holding back against Rider?

And in the novel:
"After all, he was a good enough person to let me go.
He defeated me, the cause of that disaster, but he did not take my life." - says Kirei and he's referring to Kiritisugu

Wait what? I thought Kiritisugu killed him. Only reason Kirei lived was cause he was brought back cause the grail felt like it...

Ea has two attacks.
One is a simple compressed air blast that's like a whirlwind.
The second is the one that splits reality.
DEEN made up their own version of Ea and turned it into a laser beam...

Kirei is still alive because the Grail provided him with an "artificial heart" to replace the organic one that Kiritsugu destroyed when he shot him in the chest. By Gil's incarnation, they're referring to the fact that, due to his contact with the black mud and thus with the Grail, Gilgamesh has basically been reincarnated with a physical body as opposed to the spiritual one that he possessed before.

thank you for the explication ... but the grail supposed to be destroyed ... so how can Gil make a contact with the grail !?

contact =/= contract
contact meaning he touched the mud
As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all.

the grail is still some super powered machine. it probably just gave him a body for shits and giggles.

it grants your wish but at the same time taints your mind or some crap like that. just so happens that gil is to boss to get tainted. (might be wrong) /shrugs

if the grail was destroyed how did it come back? did it come back after FSN? cause saber 'destroyed' it again...

Could anyone please explain to me the discussion between kirie and Gil about why Kirie is alive ? and what Kirie mean by " Gil have achieved incarnation ? "

Pretty good episode, although several instances were kind of meh/ cheesy. A big improvement over the first half of the show, which should have been cut down big time. I also still maintain that Kiritsugu's backstory was more interesting than the main plot.

Edit: Holy lol at most of the latest reviews for this, ruthless fanboy-ing.

They destroyed the cup. The Grail System was untouched. As an afterthought of sorts (probably because he went "oh shit I forgot", lol) Waver actually destroys the Holy Grail system (known as the Great Grail) in the Fate and Unlimited Blade Works routes, according to Nasu's extra ramblings and materials. I mention it because it seriously is never mentioned in Fate or UBW.
