Which is a shame because the story is still pretty neat.

Same here, I think that HxH's author is the only person who draws manga for so long yet haven't improved at all, it's just weird..

I thought that was because he is seriously ill and really just wings the chapters, since he doesn't exactly have much time drawing.

TO BE HONEST daily lives of high school boys

even though it's one of my favorite anime, i will definitely admit that the manga illustration reached totally unknown levels of godawful (or maybe i'm just so used to the very detailed and generally better styles of a lot of shoujo manga) but whatever i mean look at these wow i just really had to stop reading the manga all together

also nodame cantabile (but its comedy compensates for it anyway)

Actually, the napkin period (I was shocked by how bad it was (I only recently read it)) has long ended. Now, whether the style has improved since the first chapters - I'd say yes, but that might be just my brain adjusting. Also, Yu Yu Hakusho was a level above HxH in terms of art (overall), and Level E looks pretty damn good. So he has actually deteriorated after improving. I'm assuming he didn't simply forget how to draw, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was due to whatever ails the man.

if it's based on those scenes, then that's silly. For Bleach, Hueco Mundo setting/environment is that of non-existence, which has been designed to look plain/empty. What you have shown is a perfect example of that.

Although I'm not a fan of either, you just picked a bad example to show how bad bleach is.
you and i both know they made huecco mundo nothingness just so he can use it as an excuse to half ass the work even more

but fine ill find even worst pictures as proof cause theres ALOT of it

some are worse than other, ide say this sadly is the best out of what im gonna post, i like to call this one

i call this one "strange alien creature makes contact.......or just really bad art"

I call this one "My 9 year old nephew drew this.....oh wait i did nevemrind"

And finally i present you a MASTERPEICE of art, Kubo's most detailed and beautifully drawn art yet, no, nothing can top this gift from god himself,

Wait, is this supposed to be the real manga? I haven't read it yet, but damn, I thought that was a parody or something...
Though I'll also agree on Bleach. The further I got in that manga, the less I understood in some battlescenes and the more ugly it got. His blacks are just blobs. Don't give characters black outfits if the only way you can draw it is by making some kind of random blob on your page!

Onani Master Kurosawa I really liked though. The sketchy style is not ugly, you just have to like it. Personally I think the artist put in quite some work in that. Anyway, I liked that style.

And I don't remember who said he liked to see art progress during a manga, but check out Slam Dunk. It went from quite bad to flat-out amazing!

Yes it is, the funny thing is that this part is the last episode of HxH old version (where a big Cliffhanger is). The mangaka was sick (or lazy, or some other reasons) so he took alot of hiatuses (there's a new one now) while drawing that arc. the last chapter of Greed Island and the first 10 or so chapters from Chimera ant are like this, it gets better after it, not to mention that he'd redrawn those for the Volumes.

I can't stop laughing at this.

Normally i try not to let the art intervene with the story. If it does, it prevents me from reading it in the first place, but there have been rare cases where i read it anyway and dropped because of the art.

I've read a lot of Yaoi/Shounen-Ai with creepy art, but none made me cringe more than that of My Boyfriend is a Vampire. It's a manwha, but I recently found this manga in my very own library and remembered why i dropped it.
That art....*shivers* It's not the worst ever, but it was too stiff and creepy looking that even i couldn't take it. You look at the cover and it's decent, but once inside...yikes.
Junjou Romantica had some pretty horrid hand art in its first few volumes.
http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i324/yourfapsendhere/staysassyyoubadanatomystaysassy.png

Dem hands. So bad someone made a tumbler about it:
http://handsofjunjouromantica.tumblr.com/
I know hands are tough to draw, but i'm probably a good number of years younger than the mangaka and i somewhat mastered drawing them long ago.

Nana's art disgusts me a bit. It's mainly the eyes, but, although i liked the first and second volumes, the art threw any deeper interest out the window.
Most shoujo art disgusts me if it's too overly cute. hence i don't usually read much of the genre.

The worst i can remember is from some manga who's name escapes me about some girl and her childhood boyfriend jumping off a building, being separated, and reuniting after so and so years when she has another boyfriend whom she sleeps with. Ugh, that art. UGH. I dropped it just because of the art.

Probably Hunter x Hunter... I mean the art style was okay at first, nothing great but nothing completely intolerable, but in later chapters the art was very lazily done and it was hard to tell what was happening sometimes... I know the mangaka of Hunter x Hunter had his fair share of problems due to the amount of hiatuses he takes, but still... If it weren't for the decent storyline, the poor effort on the art woulda caused me to drop it already.

I also hate shoujo manga with overly cute female characters with huge eyes taking up like half of their face, and most of the male characters being overly feminine like with long eyelashes, etc. A lot of shoujo art bugs me. Despite that I'm a sucker for romance and read a lot of shoujo as a result, but I end up dropping most of them because of the art and cliche plots.

I can agree with Bleach on some level, it's like every time I see a new character, especially a new villain, I think the art is good but the designs are just so stupid, repetitive, and distasteful.

I'm also currently reading Destroy and Revolution and the art in it is very unappealing.

couldn't agree more with this post - the "weird art" is actually very distinctive, original and detailed. I think the 'weird' fact of the manga may be for you that the main character is drawn as a small bird.

artwork is okay except for the "bugs" - they look like they're computer generated [yes, they do look ugly], reminds me a bit of Gantz (only that it is better handled there)

What the hell is with all the Bleach hate? Yeah sure the story isn't perfect, but as an artist myself, I find it ridiculous how people can even describe his style as "bad art" especially when it comes to the characters. Simplicity =/= bad art. If the designs aren't to your taste, well then I don't think that's Kubo's problem because despite drawing such ridiculous designs (and yes I do think he has drawn ridiculous designs), the guy can actually draw his characters well especially in the more recent chapters. If there's anything I can criticize about Kubo, it's the repetitive formatting of his action panels for many of the fights as well as the minimalist backgrounds and even then he's not the worst offender when it comes to this (one of the worst I've seen is going to be mentioned in the following). But still, worst drawn manga? Far from it.

YoTenshi said:
Yu Yu Hakusho has to be the worst I've seen. I mean, that guy stopped drawing faces and scenery. The hell is that about!?

As much as I love the anime, I have to agree with this in the case of the manga. The guy cannot draw his characters consistently. Sometimes the characters look completely different from one panel to the next, sometimes they'd look really detailed, then suddenly the background disappears out of nowhere. While I can't fully say that it's the worst drawn manga I've ever read, as I've actually seen worse, it's definitely one of the ones that stands out when it comes to the artwork's jarring level of consistency.

EDIT

Going back to Bleach........this pretty much sums up my thoughts about the art:
TheKindlyOne said:

Furthermore, the panels and angles used by the mangaka became overused as well. Especially the "focus only on the serious eyes" panels. Wow. That was really overused.

"worst drawn" manga tho? Not really. It's all a matter of taste tho ain't it?

I think it's safe to assume that when a group of people sit down to make a manga that the character designs used are all conscious decisions done on purpose. The bug designs look to be deliberately shaded, toned, and textured to appear the way that they do. Other than not personally liking the look is there a reason that would make you think the bug design is not deliberate?

Whaaaaaa? Asano's art is easily the best I've ever seen in comics/manga/anything. He's got a unique, distinctive style that's extremely detailed, and except for the main character being drawn as a caricature bird, there's nothing weird about it.
