| I was just using Megaupload earlier today to download something, and now it's permanently gone? Ugh... I had a premium membership going on there, too. It was supposed to last 'till the end of February :/ Meh. What's most troubling about this is that it foretells how the Internet will be managed in the future. I could sign up for a premium membership on another site, but how long will that last? At this point, I see myself primarily using torrents, but god damn, they need to be magnet-powered. |

Megaupload's main server was already in Hong Kong and they had numerous servers across numerous countries. Keep in mind they were arrested in New Zealand too, so it's not even as if they were on US soil, but that doesn't matter. If the US can apply it's laws globally it will, and in copyright cases here as of late, it has started to apply it's reach in Europe speceifically. If your site is doing illegal things, it's only a matter of time before it gets shutdown. Sad but true, but in the end there will be another site within a short amount of time to replace it, and there are already better services out there than megaupload. |

| came as a surprise to me, i liked MU above the others mainly because of the speed they offered on downloads, doesn't affect me all that much since i mostly download my anime from fileserve or mediafire. this will have an impact on people who frequently accessed icefilms or similar sites that used MU/MV service for watching tv shows, but this also doesn't affect me since i made the move to usenet for all my tv and movie downloads, hell i could download my anime with usenet if i wanted but then i would have to encode the downloads myself which i dont want to do since it takes too much time (i like the mini-mkv encodes saves me space on the HD, anime only gets watched on my pc) |
