BakaOnna said: If this movie is coming out in 2013, then it's entirely possible for there to be a season 3 in fall 2012 covering vol.14-19 and then save the movie for vol.20-22 to end the first Index series. But I guess they would air season 3 first and then announce the movie. Then again, a 90mins movie covering that material will be rushed and probably suck. Guess we'll just have to wait until Oct.11 for more details. Also, NT vol.3 is announced to be released on Dec. 10th. As expected of Kamachi.exe to keep his 3 volumes/year release rate. TBH I don't think 20-22 can be appropriately covered by a movie unless it was a super long one and still do the original material justice. 14-18 or 14-19 would be best as a season 3 (I'm not sure that v19 is a good place to end a season, but I've considered it myself) with the remaining 3-4 volumes as a Season 4. If this is a movie, most likely it will cover only one volume. A lot of anime movies out there are only 30-60 minutes long anyway, so having a full volume covered would still give us 1-2 hours. There's also the possibility it will cover side story material, either from Index SP, Index SS1, the Norse Mythology SS, drama CD scripts, or something entirely different. The announcement in DB will probably give some insight. :|a |

Hmmm... Isn't Volume 15 Accelerator-only? That could be what the movie is on, and volumes 14, 16+ and SS2 could be for the next two seasons. (I haven't gotten to volume 15 yet, so I'm not sure if that would work well) [/WildMassGuessing] |

NO...WAY! I'M GOING TO DIE WHILE FAPPING THE HELL OUT OF MYSELF WHEN I WATCH THIS! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH~!!!! Okay, on a serious note...the plot can be of three ways. 1. Continuation of the current plot following the light novel series. 2. Anime original. 3. A crammed retelling of the aired anime plot. (please, hell no.) If they were to go with the first choice, I'd like to see how long this movie can be cramming so MUCH plot into it if it goes to the end of the first novel series... Edit: He's wearing his Summer uniform...uh oh...option 3 is heavily weighted... |

Way I see it, a standard adaptation of a novel is four episodes. An hour, twenty minutes or so. It's not an ideal adaptation, but it's the standard. You could pretty easily make a 2 hour film an adaptation of a single novel. Make it more detailed. Take your time in some scenes that would normally get scrunched. All in all we'd have something ideal rather than standard at this point. We could just as easily turn it into an adaptation of two novels. An hour a piece without commercials. It could work. Probably would work best with a two novel story. So that'd be volume 17 and eighteen. Don't think I read the second half of that, but the author seems to have a tendency to stretch out the two parters with literary sawdust. There's probably tons to cut making it not only as suitable for movie adaptation as any single volume, but probably more versatile in how they could choose to adapt it. Give the guys some slack to work with. I'm sure anime original material would be fantastic. A retelling of the aired anime plot probably couldn't maintain anything resembling coherence though. |

but, what will the plot be? personally, i don't mind having an original story for this movie... though covering parts of the LN would be better... but, which part? hopefully vol. 15, since it's what i've always wanted to see animated... also, season 3 when? |

Loved the series, never had time to write about but when I did, I really wrote. Just means I liked it a lot. Accelerator! |

I was running all over the house bouncing up and down the walls when I hear about this back in october. I'm still overly excited as not even the announcement of the madoka movies are toppng this excitment! I still wonder why they didn't do a season 3, but oh well, I just don't want a recap, either a adaption of something not yet animatied or a original story(for movies I love original stories, IF they're well done) |

Index 3/Railgun 2 will probably be next year. |

I want a season 3 over a Railgun season 2, but only because Index 3 would contain some KICK ASS material ;DD There's also SO much that hasn't been covered yet that is contained in the light novels, so I really hope they keep pumping seasons out. Why is it that shounen anime I HATE are the ones that air over 300 episodes, while shounen I actually enjoy is so short? -_-; |

What I love about Touma is that he's such like, the opposite of a hero in a shounen anime. Know what I mean? Every hero in a shounen anime is just way too strong and always is extremely cool. Touma's a loser who's weak as hell, but what makes him strong are his morals and his way of words, which in the end makes him powerful and popular ;T Know what I mean? I just want more Orsola ;DDDD If Yuno Gasai wasn't mai waifu, Orsola would probably be... but since she's a nun, that won't ever happen TT-TT |

Love the series too! But it has the same thing that tends to irk me with all shonen series: The current antagonist always has to take a few minutes in the middle of a fight to explain their back story of how pathetic their past was before getting a lecture from Touma that disproves all of their prior reasoning of doing what they're doing and ultimately getting punched in the face. Everything leading up to that final cliched showdown is awesome though :3 |

I think somewhere it said that the movie was going to be new stuff-- Oh wait, that was just someone's random guess based on Touma being in his summer uniform. If the movie is going to follow the novels, I don't think it could do more than one novel in an hour to an hour 40 min. Then again, it could be a 3 hour movie like the Haruhi movie, but I don't think that's very likely. I'm not sure it would be volume 14, as 90% takes place out of AC and the description says its a new threat to AC... It can't be volume 15 either, as Touma, Misaka, and Index aren't in it at all, and they're the only characters pictured. Although if the single line we've been given about the movie isn't true, as well as the image... well, it wouldn't be the first time Kamachi.exe has lied *NT1 description* |

I hope it continues the actual story :/ If they're just all, "WWIII IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!!!" then durp out and give us some random story based on some guy's random mind... I'd be a little disappointed. If it's only an hour or 40 minute movie, that'd be just dumb... Might as well make it into an OVA series -_-; If they're going to make a movie based off the novels, I say they put a couple novels into one movie and make it not too long, but not OVA-size... then continue making movies until they've finished through the last novel... Hmmm, then again, I'm not an anime-big-wig, so I doubt my opinion matters. |

I doubt it going to be about a war. I expect that the whole next season will feature the war, and putting all that into just 1 hour and 40 minutes (a guess) isn't a great feature. And I don't mind the few (or many) fillers that the 3rd season would maybe count, but I don't think there will be many, as you have to be a very eccentric writer to put fillers in the middle of a huge war. I don't really mind about some side-story, I think it'll be very nice. |

Just trying to add up the time. The movie probably will be released during the summer after that(as I have seen other dvd and bluray releases) it will be at least half a year for the dvd or bluray. Just got done watching both seasons of Toaru Majutsu no Index and Toaru Kagaku no Railgun and I gotta say I am really into watching the movie despite the likely year long wait. |

MysteryFan89 said: Just got done watching both seasons of Toaru Majutsu no Index and Toaru Kagaku no Railgun and I gotta say I am really into watching the movie despite the likely year long wait. Yea, but the "next project" was "introduced", but that didn't hint at the movie at all... It more so seemed to be hinting at a third season of sorts because they had shown a lot of clips from season 2 (flash-second clips o3o) and crap... And the movie isn't supposed to have anything to do with the second season (well, it doesn't have anything to do with the main story, I mean). This could turn out like the Bakemonogatari series where Nisemonogatari was unveiled AFTER the unveiling of Kizumonogatari... Kizumonogatari is the movie-prequel of Bakeonogatari, which is coming out sometime in 2012 while Nisemonogatari is already airing despite it being announced AFTER Kizumonogatari... Did that not make any sense at all? |

Well, the Railgun SS2 (Mikoto and Lessar) does fit the description given, but it would then be a Railgun movie. Plus neither Touma nor Index appeared at all. Also worth noting that Railgun SS2 is most likely the very first novel from the Index timeline. Mikoto has not met Uiharu, Saten, and maybe even Touma. The fact that Mikoto met Lessar before everyone else whereas Touma met her near the end of the original novels is somewhat amusing. :P I was hoping to see the gemstones arc from Index SS2, which would fit nicely in a movie (SS1 was season 2's finale), but it doesn't fit the description and the main characters barely appear. |
